If I had to define my race I would say that I am a mixture of black, Caucasian and indigenous. I had the honor of meeting my paternal great-grandmother who lived to be 95 years old and was a descendant of the Chaima Indians.

The Chaima Indians were a tribe of indigenous people located in the northeastern part of Venezuela, our great-grandmother told us few stories related to the ancestors, at that time it was a shame to say that you were indigenous. Something that has now changed.

While I was painting this watercolor, I remembered my great-grandmother Tiodora, because of the physical characteristics that this girl possesses.

Today is the International Day of Indigenous Peoples.

Below I show you a photographic sequence of its preparation.
