The first in my "Dark Ladies" series; this piece features a woman with a dark smirk on a hill above an ocean obscured by fog. This piece is inspired by trips to Portland Head Light and the nearby cliffs and ruins in Maine. My girl is licking her lips because she bought a tasty treat at "The Cookie Jar", a bakery me and my mom always stop at on the way.
Originally from a colored pencil drawing; here is the initial sketch I uploaded into Procreate.
I created many trial and error pieces in order to experiment; I am fairly new to Procreate, only really delving into it over the past two weeks. I am enjoying the absolute power it gives me over an image; but with power comes responsibility.
I ended up deciding to partly obscure the silly face in the sky with clouds; he is still here but not quite as jarring.
I also ended up slightly erasing a layer where I had edited out to much personality attempting a perfection that I must accept will elude me for a while.
Here again is the final version. As you can see I added more darks and lights, little highlights on the face to make her look a little wet. I could work on it forever, constantly editing it; or let it go out and make it's own way in the world. (Please be kind with the rights if you so decide to purchase it, sniff) I wonder if there is a way for the buyer to privately contact me so I can send them prints.
I am just about going to sleep, after seeing this I feel like Jonathan Harker and am afraid to close my eyes
(got the feeling this is not about a cookie jar) 😉 - upvoted and reposted.
Thank you so much. Can you still see your reply? I hit something and it disappeared
