One of my first successful uses of a digital oil brush still stands out to me. I recall the sense of accomplishment I felt as I emulated aspects of transitional abstract portrait painting that I loved. The minimalist approach, the palette, and the blend of real-world assets in the background all came together to make it an endearing piece. Now, as I think about it, I’d like to create a redraw.
The question is: how should I approach this with my current knowledge? One thing’s for certain—I can definitely paint it a whole lot faster than I did back then.
