Another happening day // Chinese New Year Day 2!

in Life Stories9 months ago

Chinese New Year Day 2 was following my family side. We visited my mother’s side which was 30 minutes drive from where I stayed. It used to be a big gathering of 80 people because my mother has 9 siblings in total, however it was a smaller gathering this time.

OOTD first!

Light purple CNY top with a cream skirt. 💜

Then lunch!

After church, we went to have lunch at a shop at Kwontoon town, but I forgot what was the name of the Chinese Coffee shop. It was super noisy day with many people to attend too, sometimes 2-3 people talking to the at the same time, or even 5 if my nieces also need my attention, lol, and I got totally data signal and transmission overloaded. Hence, you would notice my photo-taking skills also had been affected. Not many photos too, gee...

Chicken Rice with roasted pork and BBQ pork

I ordered these sets for myself and my father. Super delicious although we were rushing and got to eat very fast, I literally couldn't enjoy all the bites. Just simply churned and swallowed. But I remembered it was delicious if my father said so.

I super love the oil rice and yummy soup, the soup was boiled with chicken bones and chicken feet, some Cabbage and radish. Yums!

Famous Homemade Fishball

My Aunt recommended this, she said it was highly-sought after due to made fresh daily by the owners. True enough, the fish balls were so bouncy yet you could taste the real taste of fresh fish. We loved it.

Nasi Lemak ayam

My brother's family all had a plate of 'nasi lemak'. Nasi = rice, lemak = fat, ayam = chicken. It was fragrant coconut milk rice with super flavourful spices fried chicken, drilled with appetising curry, pickled vegetables and sambal. A fried egg too. Everyone said it was yummy, big portion too.

Nasi campur

My mum had mixed rice. She chose a fried fish, a chicken, and sambal squid, a bit bitter gourd. Not really delicious, the chicken and fish were dry, probably overnight food, unsure. Nevertheless, she ate it all. And super spicy too to her liking.

Bak kut teh

My sister-in-law ordered a 'bak kut teh' meaning pork or pork rib herbal tea soup for sharing. Very very herbs-infused kind of soup, very appetising and good for blood circulation. Tasty too, but a bit salty.

Soup noodles

My nieces and my brother's mother-in-law ordered the noodle soup series, one with rice vermicelli, another with flat rice noodles. The broth was very flavorful making this soup noodles really mouth-watering. It came with big amount of minced pork ball, tofu beancurd stuffed with fish paste. They let me tried some, and I loved it too.

Coffee Coffee coffee!

It was such a hot day and we were all sleepy due to the heat. A coffee — a must. Most of us had it.

We ended spending 3 hours at my Aunt's house, this is my mother’s sister's house, not my the usual Aunt I always visit on Saturday (who is my father-in-law's sister). So many catching up to do with all my relatives, so many snacks to help my Aunt to clear and the children also got to play with one another, lastly some minor gambling, war between the adults and kids. Lol... I didn't join because I didn't know how to gamble, nor did I understand the card games. Haha. Mind you, they were so loud and noisy. By the time everything ended, it was already almost 5pm.

Tired and dusted but super satisfying!
