A Day in Cebu: Basilica Prayers, Mall Mayhem, and K-Pop Dreams

in Life Stories3 months ago
I can't help but smile when I think back to that trip to Cebu with my friends. It was around May, and we finally decided to take a long-awaited trip to visit the Basilica del Santo Niño. It was a fun-filled adventure, marking the first time my school friends and I truly got together for a planned outing. We'd always talked about going, but something always seemed to get in the way – a personal issue, a scheduling conflict, or just life getting in the way. This time, though, we were determined to make it happen.

We all met at the bus terminal, excited to embark on our journey together. Unfortunately, one of my friends couldn't wake up early enough, so she had to catch up with us later.

Once we arrived in Cebu City, we headed straight to SM Mabolo. We explored the mall, indulging in a delicious meal at our favorite restaurant, Mang Inasal. It was a bit tiring, but we enjoyed the time together.

Next, we set out to find transportation to the Basilica del Santo Niño. This proved to be a bit of a challenge, as we weren't familiar with the local transportation system. It was funny, though, because we all just laughed it off and eventually found our way.

At the Basilica, we prayed for peace, perseverance, and the fulfillment of our goals. We took photos to capture the moment and remind ourselves of this special day. Afterwards, we enjoyed some coffee and lemonade, bought a few local souvenirs, and soaked in the atmosphere.

Some of my friends headed home, but my friend and I decided to take advantage of a K-Pop fun meet happening that day. We were both hesitant at first, worried about getting lost and lacking funds, but the excitement of seeing our favorite group, Unis, outweighed our anxieties.

Unis is a new girl group that debuted through the survival show "Universe Ticket," and they're my absolute favorite. We hailed a taxi, even though it was expensive, just to reach the Ayala Center Mall (I think that's the right name). The mall was huge and we were a little lost at first, but the helpful signage helped us find our way to the fun meet.

The venue was packed with fans, all eager to see Unis. We waited patiently, and when they finally appeared, the energy in the room was electric. I was particularly drawn to Ghelee Dangaca;
she has such a captivating aura and stunning beauty. It was hard to get a good view because of the crowd, so we strategically moved around, using the escalators to catch glimpses of them. We managed to snap some photos and videos, but it wasn't enough. We were running out of time, though, and didn't want to be out late, so we left before Unis performed. I wish we could have stayed longer, but we had other plans.

Leaving the mall was another adventure. It was so big, and we were unfamiliar with the layout, so we were lost again!

But, we eventually found our way out and made it back home safely. It was the end of a truly memorable trip, filled with laughter, friendship, and a little bit of K-Pop magic. Thank you for reading

Those are really good memories to look back to in the future especially the part that you get to see you favourite kpop group your so lucky! I think the malls are created like a labyrinth for you to be lost so that you can buy something unnecessary HAHAHA

You're totally right! It's like they're designed to make you wander around and spend all your money. I'm just glad I had my K-pop fix to keep me going.

I can totally relate! 😂😂 I still get lost at Ayala Center Cebu HAHAHAHAHAHA.

Ayala Center Cebu is a labyrinth! 😂

The life in Cebu was fun, til you'll get lost😭

You're right, it's a bit of a double-edged sword. The beauty of Cebu is so captivating, it's easy to get lost in it! 😅

I visited this place last 2020 before the pandemic. Sadly, I only stay for a while as it was in Cebu for work related matters..

Still, it was worth a visit.

Ah, I can imagine! It's such a beautiful place, even if it was just for work. I'm glad you got to experience it, even briefly. ✨

I'm glad you still enjoyed Cebu despite being lost. That's what makes the trip memorable.

It's true! The unexpected moments often make the best memories. I'm so glad I got to experience Cebu, even if it involved a little bit of getting lost. 😊
