The Wall

Our trip to Berlin last week ended up being a lot more eventful and entertaining than I had at first hoped. Going on previously disappointing experiences, I was pleasantly surprised by the city this time, maybe as we were also visiting relatives there this time, as opposed to just doing the tourist thing.

Still, when our cousin suggested we stop by the East Side Gallery as a "must", I was a tad skeptical. I am about most "must do" tourist things, you understand, but we decided to give it a go. I'm glad we did.

A weekend to cherish - family, milestones, and unexpected magic

This weekend was something else. Last week we got together with friends I hadn't seen for a long time, but it was a sad occasion. However, this weekend we gathered with my family for a happy occasion, and I really needed that. On Friday, we celebrated the birthday of my uncle, who turned 50.

Turning 50 in Slovenia is a big deal. I'm not sure if there's another word for this in other countries, but when you turn 50, it means you have reached "Abraham."

Sicilian Escape: A Day of Sun, Sea, and Serenity

Hi everyone, how are you?

This weekend I really did something crazy. I've always been a bit unconventional since I was a child, but this time, in just one day, I went back to Sicily. This was thanks to finding a great low-cost flight from Bologna, and in about an hour, I was back in Sicily.
For me, being born on this beautiful island, it's always so difficult to stay away from this place, which is mainly made up of sea and sun. But actually, I did this because I wanted to have my first official swim of the season.

The Most Epic Night Of My Life..... Ever!

Friday the 5th of May 2024 is a night I shall never forget, this was the most epic night for photography ever, and it saved me going to Iceland lol.

A friend of mine contacted me and asked if I was going out to look for the Aurora as it had been forecast for a great storm that evening, it was really cloudy all day but I told him that I would go but will keep an eye out on the weather, as you know with aurora, it's not always predictable, especially in England.

Visiting an ancient burial site at Cairnpapple Hill in Central Scotland

We recently visited an ancient burial site in Central Scotland thought to date back to around 2800 BC (so 4800 years old - 600 years older than the pyramids !).

We'd never visited the site before, so it was a first for us to see, even though it was only around 30 or so miles from where we live. Its right up in the hills in Central Scotland, and not an area we would normally pass.

You have to take some pretty small roads to get to it, that we had never been on before, and then you have a short climb to get to it. You can see where we parked at the bottom of these steps.
