Ding Liren surprisingly won the first game in the Chess World Championship!

Reigning Chess World Champion Ding Liren scored his first victory and took an early lead (often the games 1 in WC matches end in draws).

In this position Gukesh had to play Be1 to keep the balance, after the Rc1 he had played things went south for him and Ding Liren executed his advantage (almost) flawlessly!
