The 2024 Chess World Championship will take place in Singapore from November 25 to December 13!
Current World Champion Ding Liren from China and challenger Gukesh Dommaraju from India will face each other in a fourteen-game classical chess match. The player who scores 7.5 points will get the title. In case of a tie, rapid (and blitz) games will decide!
The reigning champion Ding Liren (31) has been struggling with poor results in recent tournaments. However, he has proven that he can rise to the occasion when it matters most. Will he be able to recapture the brilliance (example of one of his legendary wins) that made him World Champion?
In order to defend his title, he needs to overcome the only 18 years old challenger Gukesh D. If Gukesh wins, he will rewrite chess history as the youngest World Champion ever, surpassing Garry Kasparow’s record from 1985 (who was then 22y old when he won against Anatoli Karpow).
What do you think? Who will win?
My money is on Ding Liren, never underestimate a rising star with a few bumps on the way as that means they learn from they inexperience's mistakes to be better in the long run
