Openings from my childhood

From an early age I have been dedicated to the practice of chess, I started playing in 2006 and my first national tournament was a year later in 2007 but at that time I did not have very clear my ideas on the board, I knew very little of openings and only won games by the good use of moves in the middle game and endgame.
over the years I was correcting mistakes and learning a little more openings to develop a better game and not be so bad standing from the beginning, among them I started to play the Sicilian and French defense with black, with white I kept playing king pawn preferably rui lopez.
I have always liked to be well prepared to face big rivals and at that time the bid to stand out in our category was quite strong since most of those players had had experience in Panamerican games, In one of those nationals I was not so well prepared driving the white pieces and my trainer taught me variations of the Scottish gambit, observing it simple and comfortable and also that with a little luck and mistakes of my rival I could be getting victory easily and quickly, otherwise I would have to beat me on the board and show who was the best of the two.
Fortunately the first game where I decided to start with the Scotch gambit ended in victory for me and thus I was very well and was delighted with this famous opening but after winning several games and avoided entering into this variant or refute it, so I no longer had such good results and decided to train more thoroughly other openings, but nevertheless I did not leave aside the Scotch gambit because in quick games or blitz I could open with it and surprise the opponent that as I mentioned before if he did not know how to get free he would be at a disadvantage.
Now let's talk about my experience in this tournament, if I'm honest I didn't remember exactly all the variations and I even made some serious mistakes but I fought with what I had and I supported myself with the 3+2 min rhythm of the game, I just tried to remember the variations and to offer a good level of play.

In this first game I faced an opponent with a higher ranking than mine but I was leading the white pieces and it was something comfortable for me, clearly you can see how I not only deliver the c3 pawn but also allow him to capture on b2 with the intention of developing my pieces quickly before he uses his castling, it is a game that serves as a great help for those who do not know much about the opening because this opponent made mistakes early and I could get clear advantage keeping it and securing the victory, in this way I continued: cxb2 Axb2 Nf6 Ce4 Dd5 attacking the knight, bishop and threatening mate on f7 at the same time, there was the variant on his part Cg4 instead of Ce4 but this was answered with Axf7 Rxf7 Dd5 leaving his king badly placed.

Thus concludes my first game defeating someone with higher elo and gaining some confidence in the tournament.

In my second game I faced ZGM_Samostically (2225) who was the undisputed champion of the tournament and I only have to give congratulations, a very curious fact is that this talented player apart from being very good is fast, in all of its items use the berseck and had good knowledge of the positions

image.png

Unfortunately at this point of the game for not remembering the order of plays I made a serious mistake which is to play Ab4+ after c3 dxc3 bxc3 my two pieces are attacked, the horse of f6 and the Bishop located in b4 being in disadvantage almost total, I thought about giving up but I don’t usually do it in blitz and quick games, continue playing also for the use of his berseck to try to complicate things a little

image.png

Later we came to this position even with piece of less but not as lost as at the beginning and after playing Ae6 my rival performs Ag3 to defend the pawn of h4 without realizing that his lady was staying in the air,

image.png

In the final result I ended up winning him to the compeon of the event not in the best way to be honest but well we kept adding hehe points and just this had begun They were passing the games gradually and still having good results, in the third game my rival uses berseck and I accept the same challenge to be on equal terms

image.png

For mistakes and inaccuracies of his part I manage to win some material but after Cd7 but it would not be enough to win the game since the time I played against and I do not characterize me for being a player so fast it is a pity not being able to have won since that kept me in the top of the table

image.png

In this way the game ends with no advantage for either of the ‍ - ‍ Later in games 4 and 5 I used the berseck as despite not having lost I was left behind in the table and wanted to enter the podium managing to defeat my rivals and adding 3 points being in the fight of the first three places felt the pressure and right now I think I made a big mistake because after winning those two games I thought that if I ensured playing without berseck I could equally enter the top 3 places, I played in games 6 and 7 two rivals of higher ranking to mine and I played in a calm way obtaining again both victories, were very few minutes to finish the tournament and I placed in the second place but I would face Tony1294

I leave the gif of the game with a very bitter taste of mouth since it was quite even in a great transit of it but at the moment I had a clear advantage which I did not know to explode and then trying to look for the boards since I was above the end losing and well at that time I got my pyrmera defeat after 7 games and I thought well I will have to settle for the 3rd place Already in the last game I played very quickly with a premove leaving my Lady hanging and losing without giving what to do

image.png

The tournament ended and to greater surprise I was located in the 4th position, had climbed one more position compared to my previous tournament but I was very upset about having trusted me and it is something that will not happen again

Aca I show the final standing of the tournament congratulations to those who got the first places, a coordial salute to the organizers and continue to support our great beloved sport science, we will continue in the fight to improve and success to all!
