Hivechess Tournament Season 19 Round 7

Hi Chesslers,

haven't posted in a while, so here I am. Been doing a bunch of coding recently for worldmappin, hope you like the changes. Anyway, that's off-topic. So let's get into round 7.

How's the Hivechess Tournament Going for Me?

Due to missing a round while partying at Hivefest (I still need to make some posts about it), I've been battling ever since to try and get back up to 1st. There are still 5 rounds left so if my games don't go as badly as round 6 then I think I should be able to get back to the top.

So far, I have had some super good games against strong players, but I want to say that unfortunately, most of them were just because of luck. Give me a second, and I will explain.

Luck in Chess?

Well, yes, luck, or as you will know in chess, they are called blunders. Due to the Tournament being at 9 pm on a Friday and having a couple of drinks (I don't think I'm the only one), blunders seem to happen quite a lot, especially on my end.

Some interesting info or better said a conclusion as to why the games that I win against higher-rated opponents are due to luck:

Above is a game against none other than @stayoutoftherz. As you can see he was always at an advantage, but I got lucky in the end and landed a sexy pawn checkmate.

In the second game against @stayoutoftherz, same thing he is always at an advantage and that game I lost. I pushed quite far with my ideas into his position, this tends to work quite well against similar rated players, I try to have some fun when playing on fridays, I don't really try to play the best chess rather I try to make complicated tense positions which often scare lower rated players. But yeah like I just said it's not the best chess, but it's fun.

To back up my luck check this out:

In the picture above you can see a game that I played against @justola1 a slightly lower-rated player, and as you can see I'm keeping the advantage from quite early own. Yet, if you look closely you can see even from this games analysis the game is slightly more volatile at the start.

And here is another game:

This game was against @justfavour, as you can throughout the whole game the advantage goes from me back justfavour then back to me again and so on. Similar rated player so this analysis makes sense. But it's also interesting how different the analysis looks when versing a higher-rated opponent.

In conclusion, yes I just need to get better :D

lastly here is the game against @justola1. The last 20 moves, I was only pre-moving until the checkmate. I was low on time because I berserk and what I didn't know is that you don't just get your time cut in halt you also don't get any extra time. So it makes berserking even harder.

I'm ngl, this was one of my favourite games this round. The reason being, that the position was super complicated early on and there was a lot of pressure on me, to the point where I had to continue to defend myself justola did a great job here, what a lovely game!
