This morning, I woke up and did something I haven't done in a long time. I checked my FIDE rating. While, I had an idea what they were, looking at those numbers, all I could think of was returning back to competitive chess. My classical rating is 1941, rapid 1994 and blitz 1904. If I return to competitive chess, I can push it to 2000+ or I think so.
If you look at my stats, you'd notice I never lost rating since I started with a 1800+ I've moved up only, rapid too the same, added 4 Elo's since starting with a 1990. Only blitz have I dropped 1 elo, from 1905 to 1904
There is a national tournament upcoming in April. It would feature both blitz and classical chess. Just maybe I can prepare and do better then.
A Change in Approach
What this means is that I have to stop playing bullet chess because it wont help my training. I'm currently 2460+ on lichess. I'd try get it up to 2500 then pause for a while. I know I'm a great fan of bullet chess, However I know it affects classical play. My instincts are already good enough to close a game but I can't there if I don't survive the slow grind phase.
My training plan. I'd do more of watching videos and playing rapid games and analyzing them. I already love to watch Nakamura so I'd just focus on some of his videos that involves tournament analysis.
Also I'd probably do physical exercises daily so I'm physically prepared.
I also not going to put alot of expectation on myself, just want to also play and enjoy the

I also not going to put alot of expectation on myself, just want to also play and enjoy the game at the same time increase the fide numbers.
A Step at a Time
Before April comes, I still have an immediate goal for today, winning HiveChess tournament tonight for the third time in a row. You can find the link to the tournament here. https://peakd.com/hive-157286/@stayoutoftherz/reminder-round-5-of-the-hivechess-tournament-s20-friday-20h-gmt-and-a-question-for-the-chess-community
To end this post, here’s an online game I played yesterday, one that reminded me why I love this game in the first place.
[Event "Rated bullet game"]
[Site "https://lichess.org/aQfCDZoD"]
[Date "2025.02.28"]
[White "ZGM_Samostically"]
[Black "sinarbawa1"]
[Result "1-0"]
[GameId "aQfCDZoD"]
[UTCDate "2025.02.28"]
[UTCTime "03:28:25"]
[WhiteElo "2423"]
[BlackElo "2463"]
[WhiteRatingDiff "+7"]
[BlackRatingDiff "-6"]
[Variant "Standard"]
[TimeControl "60+0"]
[ECO "A01"]
[Opening "Nimzo-Larsen Attack"]
[Termination "Normal"]
[Annotator "lichess.org"]
1. b3 { A01 Nimzo-Larsen Attack } 1... e6 2. Bb2 Nf6 3. e3 Be7 4. f4 O-O 5. Nf3 d5 6. Bd3 c5 7. O-O Nc6 8. Ne5 a6 9. Rf3 Bd7 10. Nxd7 Qxd7 11. Bxf6 Bxf6 12. Bxh7+ Kxh7 13. Rh3+ Kg6 14. Qg4+ Bg5 15. Qxg5# { White wins by checkmate. } 1-0
When I play bullet, I often begin with 1.b3 and 2.Bb2 because it avoids so many theories and aims to catch the opponent off guard. I have so many successful quick games playing this line and this is one example. The game ended in 15 moves

The idea of this opening is simple. Place the both bishops to face the opponent king. Get the rook to join the attack and hope for the best. 50% of times, this has worked perfectly.
After black last move 9.Bd7. White already has his idea set up and was ready for the attack. Believe you me, this position is clearly winning for white and even against a 2600+ player, they don't realize until the next move.
10.Nxd7 and now the threat start becoming real.
You cant take with the knight because Bxh7 followed by the rook check and queen to h5 is disastrous.
Black took with the queen and then came the move Bxf6 removing the defender of h7 forcefully.

Then the game ends decisively with Bxh6 followed by Rh3 and Queen check.
15 moves and the game ends in checkmate! Feel free to try it. Remember 1.b3!
