Chess has always been a big part of my life, I've playing since I was 10 so it's no suprise that my home reflects my love for the game. I moved into a new place a year ago, and it took some time, but I finally got some chess frames. I carefully chose the designs as they all represent something to me. Each frame has a unique story or hidden meaning. Today in this post, I've decided to share them and also what they represent.
The Cat vs the Board
I'm starting with my favorite frame. Cats are known for their patience and sharp instincts. Something I think I lack, I'm not usually patient and it reflects in chess games too. I rush and try to win quickly. Another thing i like is the focus of the cat. It reminds me of an opponent I played in the National sports festival in 2019, He wont stop staring at me. I ended up losing that game out of fear because I was really uncomfortable. Maybe that's why I love this frame. Or maybe I just like the idea of the cat looking like it's about to checkmate someone.
The Torn Bible, Scattered Chessboard, and Chaos
This frame is the most intense one. Immediately I saw it on pixabay, I knew I wanted to wake up to this image everyday. A chessboard with pieces scattered, and a Bible with torn pages, you might ask, what does it represent?
To me, it means struggle. Chess is respected because most people think chess is a noble game, but the thing is, it is also a game of war. While the torn bible to me poses a deep message about my beliefs, about how uncertain I am in certain areas of my life.
If you look closely, you will also notice the surroundings is a chaos, you can straight out assume after the game, the player who lost took his frustration by scattering pieces. I just love that the frame can be interpreted in so many ways.
The Gorilla Smoking and Drinking, Playing Against a Man in Deep Concentration
This is both funny and a bit provoking. The gorilla relaxed and the man looks like he is having a very tough game. However with a deeper look at the board, you'd realize the game just started and it is mostly likely still an equal position.
The gorilla makes chess look easy and fun which sometimes it's how to take the game. One the other hand, you need to be focus and discipline at all times irrespective of how your opponent reacts. Just another frame I like but mostly for it humor
The 3D Frame with a Colorful Chessboard
Unlike the others, I just love this one because it looks really good. It doesn't have a deep meaning or represent anything to me. I just chose it because it's stunning. It is art and I keep in a place where light shines on it, making it glow beautifully.
Conclusion
These frames are not just decorations, they mean alot to me. from curiosity and laser focus of the cat to the fine artistic 3D chess board, they all capture different angles of the game of chess. I could create different stories for each one of them. Waking up and seeing them every day also reminds me of how much I love the game of chess.
I am @samostically,I love to talk and write about chess because i benefited alot from playing chess and I love writing about chess.
