Dear chess fans!
the eigth round of S10 is played this Friday 4th Mar., 20h GMT, as usual.
The current standings after 7 rounds you can find here.
This time it will be a 4+1 Swiss mode over 7 rounds. For noobs, more infos about the Swiss mode you can find further down this post. Swiss tournaments are rather rare lately, do you want to have them more often?
IMPORTANT REMINDER: In order to play in R8 tomorrow, you need to be part of the NEW Hivechess Lichess team called "The Blockchain Chess Team". There are currently only 38 members, so apparently not all have moved over yet: PLEASE JOIN HERE!
Mode: 4+1 (4 minutes per game, 1 sec. increment), 7 rounds Swiss mode
Tournament Link: https://lichess.org/swiss/M71Jeabo
There are already app. 324$ (331 Hive!) in the pricepool! As predicted, the Hive price is again close to 1$ 😄!
RULES
For Hivers, Steemians, Blurters, noise.cashers and all others!
Players of all skill levels are welcome, from newbies to experts, you just need a free Lichess-account!
Every Friday is one round
Time mode is varying (5+0, 3+2,...), rated, berserking allowed (except in Swiss mode)
The winner of each round gets the number of points equaling the number of players in that round, the second ranked one point less and so forth until the one on the bottom of the table who gets one point.
Occasionally a round may be divided into 2 skill classes
In case two players have the same number of points, the one who played less rounds is first. If that is equal too, then the average tournament performance decides.
PAYOUT: This season goes over 10 rounds and the tournament points are summed up. All Hivechess-related post rewards are pooled and 80% go to the price pool (PP). The tournament winner will get 25 Hive bonus, a unique NFT trophy and the rest of the PP is divided among all players according to the number of tournament points achieved, but only if a player has participated at least 3 times (if <3 games are played in a round it will be not counted)!
There will be special prices for the highest overall tournament performance and the highest performance in relation to the own rating (counted by averaging the rating after the first and the last round)
If I don´t know your Hive username, I can´t consider you in the final rankings, so please let me know your Hive name in the comments or in the Lichess chat!
If you have not yet joined our team in Lichess, please do it here, so that you can participate (required for the Swiss tournaments only).

By the way, while digging out old posts I found my very first chess-related post. What a small chess community we were back then in 2017! Really amazing, how much stronger we are today!
Check it out for fun:

See you there.
It's great to hear about the history of the community of chess players on Steem-Hive.
I will try to be despite possible attack of Putin Russian forces on Ukraine's Black Sea coast. I'm just from Ukraine and live here...
