Yesterday I got the last brief feedback on a project I'm currently managing and when I read through it, I had some mixed emotions.
My clients (joint owners of the business) were so happy with the project so far and were lavishing praise for how I've fleshed it out and how it's grown from skin and bones to a well rounded product that they can use for all manner of things going forward. That made me very proud, to have been a small, but crucial part in the beginning stages of the start-up.
It also made me a bit sad knowing that my particular part of project management would soon be coming to an end and I went through the project stages in my mind as they were laid out in the proposal to double check each one according to the brief and the (almost) finished product.
The emotions were mixed because signing off will be wonderful as it can then move on to the next stage of development, but at the same time, this duo have been so unbelievably pleasant to work with, that it was almost bittersweet. I know that we will have development goals to work on together in the future as there are parts of the project timeline that I will be mandated to consult on, but this chapter will be coming to a close with the month of June now here, the original deadline that we set.
Considering that the project morphed from an idea into something tangible, fills me with a sublime sense of accomplishment and will help to fuel me in moving forward with the other projects too. I applied all of my knowledge from many years of work in many different positions to bring the highest level of customer service and I delivered on each promise. My management are pleased that we hit the deadline as well - at one stage we were doubtful.
There are very few items left on the list to double check and tick off now, but today will be handover. Some clients just stick in your heart and mind as really wonderful people to work with and this pair have cemented their spot there. Something that I will mention when I complete my project SWOT analysis with management later this week. I, in turn will also get feedback from management from their side.
