Life Update: My Sister's Still in ICU

in Hive PH6 days ago (edited)

Hello guys!

It takes one to get sick, but it takes the whole community to heal.

I'm usually not the one to beg for help, but I'm already desperate. Most of my donation drives before were not for me, but for other people. This time, this is for my sister. I am already so grateful for the help of the entire Hive community that was spearheaded by @worldmappin. As an update to what's happening, my sister is still in the ICU and she was supposed to be transferred to the normal ward today, but she had seizures. I honestly don't know anymore. One day her progress was impressive and then she will crash the next day.

I hope this post will serve as an update to you all on what's happening to her. More than that, it serves as an outlet for me. I don't know where to rely at this point. The community has been very helpful in sending positive thoughts and prayers aside from the monetary contributions. I don't know how I will sustain her daily medications on top of her mounting hospital bill, but it's the least of my concern as of this moment. I just want her to be okay. I'm just not ready yet on anything that might happen to her.

You all have been so helpful and I'll forever be grateful for that. I'm glad to be part of the community that values its members. At this point, just an upvote and reblog of this post will suffice. I just want to help with her daily medicines in any way I can.

My sister has been my confidant when it comes to household affairs. I don't know if I'll be able to manage the bills without her support. When I was scammed earlier this year, all I hear from her was, "Okay ra na Nong, ako lang bahala. Mangutang lang ko." (It's okay brother, I'll take care of everything. I'll just take a loan.). It's all the assurance that I needed to hear even if I know she was already burdened by her own debts.

I just learned a few days ago from her friends who visited that she helped a lot of people. I was wondering why she's in constant debt and now it made sense. She helped a lot of people and those people are now also giving back.

Honestly, I'm slowly slipping away. I'm so confused as to what's happening. One thing is for sure, I witnessed twice the life in her eyes slowly drifting away; one in the emergency room last November 5 and the other in the ICU last November 9. Earlier this afternoon, I also witnessed her seizures twice. The feeling of helplessness is unbearable that my younger brother got out of the ICU as he couldn't take it anymore. It was so painful to watch, but I didn't have a choice but to be with her. She wants to know that we are with her and I don't want her to be disappointed.

To those who sent their HIVE and HBD, I'll forever be grateful. Thank you so much! You all have made a difference especially when we had nothing. Her insurance coverage was eaten on the second day in ICU. We have to buy her daily medicines and I honestly had no idea how I was able to sustain everything until now. One thing is for sure, any small amount sent to me has a huge difference.

I still have to recount everything that happened since the start of her admission to the hospital and then her diagnosis of SLE (systemic lupus erythematosus). First her kidney was attacked by her own immune system causing Stage 3 renal failure, then her heart and she had a heart attack during the time we were in the emergency room, then her lungs were filled with fluid to the point that she was internally drowning. Now, she's having seizures and it might still be caused by her lupus. She will be scheduled for MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) scan tomorrow. She had her EEG (electroencephalogram) earlier to monitor her brain activity. That was after her seizures four times.

I already paid almost PHP 100,000.00 on medicines and laboratory tests alone. Our outstanding hospital bill is already at PHP 450,000.00 based on the update earlier this morning. The doctors' professional fee is still to be accounted in the final billing and she already had 10 doctors. But I'll think of the hospital bills later. I have to make sure she's okay and that's when the monetary problem comes into play.

Thank you so much to the @worldmappin team for the all out support! I don't know if I was able to manage it without you guys. Thank you to my friends! It goes to show you really loved me even if I'm not that easy to love. Thank you to @indayclara who has been my constant companion during these trying times. To those who extended their help, please know that I tried to take note all of you. Please don't be offended if you were not mentioned this time. I'll personally thank you all in the future.

I guess that's all for this update.
