Just like yesterday, today was another warm day. However, according to the weather forecast, today is the last of the warm days, and winter is expected to return starting tomorrow.
While running various errands today, I took a slight detour and stopped by a shrine. It was a small shrine with a green roof. I thought about praying for my eldest son’s exam success, but the wooden fence at the entrance was closed. There was a sign that read, “No entry except for authorized personnel and worshippers,” which made me hesitate to even touch the fence. There were also a couple of notices within the grounds, including at the water purification pavilion, stating that “Security cameras are in operation.” The shrine didn’t really give off a welcoming vibe, so I decided not to go inside. In the end, I just took a picture from outside the fence!
One good thing, though, was that I got to see some plum blossoms. Most of them were still in bud, but I spotted one that had already bloomed. Seeing plum blossoms makes me feel that spring is just around the corner. Speaking of which, I feel a slight tickling in my nose. I used to have hay fever when I was a teenager, but after moving to Niigata for college, my symptoms almost completely disappeared. Still, during pollen season, my eyes and nose tend to get a little itchy.
After mailing some letters and doing a bit of shopping at the drugstore, I headed home. The last photo isn’t from today, but it’s a shot I took the other day when I made tai-meshi (sea bream rice).
昨日に引き続き、今日も暖かい1日でした。ただ天気予報によれば、暖かいのは今日までで、明日からはまた冬に逆戻りらしいです。
今日は諸々の雑用を済ませるついでに、少し遠回りして神社に立ち寄ってみました。緑色の屋根を持つ、小さな神社でした。長男の合格祈願でも・・・と思ったのですが、入り口の木の柵が閉まっています。「関係者及び参拝者以外立ち入り禁止」との看板があり、柵に触るのも躊躇われました。境内には手水舎を含め２ヶ所ほどに、「防犯カメラ設置中」の貼り紙もあるし・・・ 何となくウェルカム感のない神社だったので参拝はやめておきました。というわけで、ただ柵の外から写真を撮っただけ！
良かったのは、梅の花が咲いているのを見られたこと。まだ蕾がほとんどでしたが、一つだけ咲いている花を発見。梅の花を見ると、春がすぐそこまできているのを感じます。そういえば、ちょっと鼻がムズムズするような。私は10代のころは花粉症だったのですが、大学進学を機に新潟に引っ越して以降、ほとんど症状が出なくなりました。それでも花粉が舞う季節は何となく、目と鼻がむず痒くなります。
郵便物を投函して、ドラッグストアで買い物をして帰宅しました。最後の写真は今日のものではありませんが、先日鯛飯を作った時の一枚です。

Those pictures of the plum blossoms also remind me that spring is coming. Here the days are cold and rainy, but it is noticeable that the sunlight is lasting longer.
