Hello there, Hive friends! Life is getting a bit heavier lately and will definitely become way more heavy soon. It's starting to sink in my mind that I will be officially starting my internship next week.
It's getting a bit overwhelming, or is it just because I am still wide awake at 4 in the morning writing this blog, thus making me overthink things? Dark circles around my eyes are starting to get visible; I'm afraid I might soon look like a panda 🐼. Though pandas are cute~
Anyway, I decided to stop by real quick to get my mind off these thoughts about my internship, but then here I am yapping about it T-T.
Now, on to this blog. I would like to share the drawing process of one of my favorite illustrations I have made before. It's a digital illustration of Toga Himiko from Boku no Hero Academia.
Toga is one of the members of the League of Villains; they are basically the villains who go against the group of heroes in the anime. And if you've seen the anime or have read the manga, then I'm sure you recognize her. She is actually one of my favorites from the anime despite her being an enemy. I personally like her character design. She is cute and kinda twisted of a character, yeah, she is.
Process
Like how I usually do my drawings, I started by sketching her character, but this time, instead of making a traditional sketch first, I directly went on to sketch her digitally. I always start by creating a circle with guidelines whenever I draw characters.
After making a very rough sketch, I cleaned it up and proceeded with placing the base colors. I like to use peach color for skin tone. I think my palette revolves around the warm colors. I like using orange, brown, and reddish shades.
I don't specifically know why, but I like drawing characters with bangs. Does it have something to do with my own bangs? Well, I don't know, hmm, probably there is? Hahaha.
I find drawing characters with bangs easier. Toga is my comfort character to draw; I just realize that whenever I draw her, I never mess up.
This is my second drawing of Toga, the first one I did it traditionally, using my pencil and watercolor. I drew it during my first visit in Camotes.
Another thing I enjoyed doing as I drew her was putting on her blush. I splashed an orange color on her face and switched to using the erasing tool and started making variations. I even added these two adorable heart shapes to each side of her cheeks. Adorable, isn't she?
Afterwards, I added the background. I made some of the outlines darker and the others lighter. To finish the piece, I added highlights. These are just tiny details that make a huge difference to your drawings. It makes it livelier and pleasing to the eye.
Here's the final piece! I hope you enjoyed and liked my drawing of Toga-chan.
PLUS ULTRA!
