I'd just pass this by because is a niche subject within a niche anime called sports. It may have a good story and character building but it's also understandable for it to be dismissed given how it's still about golf. A sport that isn't as intense as other contact sports.

Even golf can be intense given the right build up, high stakes and directing, heck, Death Note made writing on a notebook and eating potato chips look cool.
