Greetings, Hive! Before I start this post, before I get lynched for what I'm writing, and before my friends probably exclude me from the group for what they are going to read here, I want to clarify something: It was very difficult for me to write this post because I had no idea which anime to write about, I mean, if I don't like something I simply don't watch it, and that's it. It happened to me recently with Jujutsu Kaisen, I watched the first episode and the truth is that it didn't catch me and I didn't continue watching it, and that doesn't make Jujutsu Kaisen good or bad, I just didn't like it at the first time. So talking about "the worst anime I've ever seen" is complicated because why am I going to waste my time watching something I don't like? So after thinking a lot about the situation I decided to talk about an anime I started watching a few months ago and it took me a lot of time to get to where I got to: One Piece. Yes, Eiichiro Oda's opera prima, Monkey D. Luffy’s journey pursuing his dream of being the King of Pirates along with his faithful crew, the straw hats.
So without any further ado, let's start!
The first thing I want to say about One Piece is that I DO NOT consider it in any way a bad anime, on the contrary, I find it a very solid and well-argued work, to say that its universe is giant is an understatement, I have cried on a couple of occasions watching it, I have become attached to all the crew and their adventures at sea, I recognize the importance of the work in modern anime and I even have its first opening, We Are, downloaded on my cell phone and I always sing it with my friends in our meetings. So, why One Piece? It's hard to explain, but I think it's about social pressure. In my rock band Ensamble Multiverso we are all very otaku, we all love anime and it's one of the things that brought us together in the first place apart from music obviously. We are 12 or 13 members, of which ALL of us have seen anime, but only 3 or 4 of us had seen One Piece. It wasn't until a few months ago that by recommendation, the rest of us started to watch One Piece (each one at our own pace, obviously) and suddenly an incredible hype was created around the series.
Without realizing it, One Piece was practically the only topic of conversation in the gang, my friends wrote me every day to tell me how amazing it was, that it was the best anime they had ever seen in their lives, that they couldn't stop watching it, that I had to get to episode 23456265456 to see how good the series gets, and well... While watching it, yes, I liked it, I found it funny and entertaining... But that's it, it wasn't that big of a deal. As the others progressed they talked more and more and said that this or that arc was the best, and every time I caught up with them and reached the famous arc they talked so much about I couldn't help but feel disappointed. I wanted to see something incredible that would change my life, and even though I did enjoy what I saw... It didn't seem like a big deal.
I stayed that way for 325 episodes, three hundred and twenty-five episodes, specifically until the end of Enies Lobby where I said "I have to stop, I can't stand this anymore." I really tried really hard to like it and enjoy it, I didn't want to feel like I was the only weirdo in my group of friends who doesn't like One Piece, but each episode was getting heavier than the last, especially in the Ennies Lobby arc, where there's literally like 8 episodes of Luffy running around the island saying obvious things and beating up useless marine soldiers. This wouldn't be a problem if these episodes were filler and I could skip them, but no, they are canon episodes that within the 20 minute footage there are between 7 or 8 minutes important to the plot. The Mugiwara's fights against CP9 were okay bordering on weak, the best ones were Sanji against Jabra, Franky against Fukuro, and Luffy against Rob Lucci, the rest of the fights went by without any glory and hardly caused any emotion in me. And in this case I'm only talking about the Enies Lobby arc, let alone Skypia....
However, as I said before, I think my problem with One Piece is the expectation I made myself due to the constant conversations about the series, maybe if I had seen it at another time and without pressure, I would have a totally different perspective. I want to emphasize that all these things I have said do not take away any merit from the series, and rather, objectively speaking, it is very very good, I recognize all the things it does well and I have allowed myself to enjoy quite a few moments of this amazing anime, but simply so far, until episode 325, I don’t like One Piece.
I know I put a bit of a funny spin on this day since I was supposed to talk about the worst anime I've ever seen, but as I said in the beginning of the post: if I don't like something I'm not going to watch it because I'm not going to waste my time on something I don't like, the only anime I've tried it with is One Piece and that's because even though I don't like it so far, I recognize and respect everything this great anime does well. What I personally don't like it? That's fine! Does that make One Piece a bad anime? Of course not!
Oh, I forgot to talk about Nanatsu no Taizai, it's so bad that I only watched the first season and some episodes of the second season and I couldn't take it anymore.

Antes de comenzar este post, antes de que me linchen por lo que estoy escribiendo, y antes de que probablemente mis amigos me excluyan del grupo por lo que van a leer aquí, quiero aclarar algo: Fue muy difícil para mí escribir este post porque no tenía idea sobre cuál anime escribir, es decir, si algo no me gusta sencillamente no lo veo, y eso es todo. Me pasó recientemente con Jujutsu Kaisen, vi el primer episodio y pues la verdad no me atrapó y no lo seguí viendo, y eso no hace a Jujutsu Kaisen bueno o malo, simplemente no me gustó a la primera. Por lo que hablar acerca de “el peor anime que haya visto” es complicado porque ¿por qué voy a perder mí tiempo viendo algo que no me gusta? Así que después de pensar mucho en la situación decidí hablar de un anime que comencé a ver hace unos meses y que me costó muchísimo llegar hasta donde llegué: One Piece. Si, la opera prima de Eiichiro Oda, la travesía de Monkey D. Luffy persiguiendo su sueño de ser el Rey de los Piratas junto a su fiel tripulación, los sombreros de paja.

Lo primero que quiero decir acerca de One Piece es que NO lo considero de ninguna forma un mal anime, por el contrario, me parece una obra muy sólida y bien argumentada, decir que su universo es gigante es decir poco, yo mismo he llorado en un par de ocasiones viéndola, me he encariñado con toda la tripulación y sus aventuras en el mar, reconozco la importancia de la obra en el anime moderno y hasta tengo su primer opening, We Are, descargado en mi celular y siempre la canto junto a mis amigos en nuestras reuniones. Entonces, ¿por qué One Piece? Es difícil explicarlo, pero creo que se trata de presión social. En mi banda de rock Ensamble Multiverso todos somos bien otakus, a todos nos encanta el anime y es una de las cosas que nos unió en primera instancia aparte de la música obviamente. Somos 12 o 13 integrantes, de los cuales TODOS hemos visto anime, pero solo unos 3 o 4 de nosotros habían visto One Piece. No fue sino hasta hace unos pocos meses que por recomendación, los demás comenzamos a ver One Piece (cada quién a su propio ritmo, obviamente) y pues de repente se creó un hype increíble alrededor de la serie.
Sin darnos cuenta, One Piece era prácticamente el único tema de conversación de la banda, mis amigos me escribían todos los días para decirme que increíble era, que es el mejor anime que han visto en sus vidas, que no podían parar de verlo, que tenía que llegar al episodio 23456265456 para que viera como se pone buena la serie, y pues… Mientras la veía sí, me gustaba, me parecía graciosa y entretenida… Pero ya está, no era para tanto. Conforme los demás avanzaban cada vez hablaban más y más y decían que tal o cuál arco era el mejor, y cada vez que los alcanzaba y llegaba al famoso arco del que tanto hablaban no podía evitar sentirme decepcionado. Quería ver algo increíble que me cambiara la vida, y a pesar de que si, disfrutaba lo que veía… Pues no me parecía nada del otro mundo.
Me mantuve así durante 325 episodios, trescientos veinticinco episodios, concretamente hasta el final de Enies Lobby donde dije “tengo que parar, ya no soporto esto.” De verdad me esforcé muchísimo para que me gustara y para disfrutarlo, no quería sentir que yo era el único raro de mi grupo de amigos al que no le gusta One Piece, pero cada episodio se me hacía más pesado que el anterior, sobre todo en el arco de Ennies Lobby, donde literalmente hay como 8 episodios de Luffy corriendo alrededor de la isla diciendo cosas obvias y golpeando soldados inútiles de la marina. Esto no sería un problema si estos episodios fuesen relleno y los pudiese saltar, pero no, son episodios canon que dentro del metraje de 20 minutos hay entre 7 u 8 minutos importantes para la trama. Las peleas de los Mugiwara contra el CP9 estuvieron bien rayando en lo flojo, las mejores fueron la de Sanji contra Jabra, Franky contra Fukuro, y Luffy contra Rob Lucci, el resto de peleas pasaron sin pena ni gloria y difícilmente causaron alguna emoción en mí. Y en este caso estoy hablando solamente del arco de Enies Lobby, ni hablar de Skypia…
Sin embargo, como dije antes, creo que mi problema con One Piece es la expectativa que me hice debido a las constantes conversaciones acerca de la serie, quizás si la hubiese visto en otro momento y sin presión, tendría una perspectiva totalmente diferente. Quiero resaltar que todas estas cosas que he dicho no le quitan nada de mérito a la serie, y más bien, objetivamente hablando, es muy muy buena, reconozco todas las cosas que hace bien y me he permitido disfrutar bastantes momentos de este increíble anime, pero simplemente hasta ahora, hasta el episodio 325, no me gusta One Piece.
Sé que le di una vuelta un poco curiosa a ese día ya que se supone que debía hablar del peor anime que haya visto, pero como dije en el principio del post: si algo no me gusta no lo voy a ver porque no voy a perder mi tiempo en algo que no me gusta, el único anime con el que lo he intentado es con One Piece y eso es porque a pesar de que hasta ahora no me gusta, reconozco y respeto todo lo que este gran anime hace bien. ¿Qué personalmente no me gusta? Eso está bien ¿Eso hace a One Piece un mal anime? ¡Por supuesto que no!
Ah, me olvidé de hablar de Nanatsu no Taizai, es tan malo que solo vi la primera temporada y algunos episodios de la segunda y no pude más.

No lo he visto, mis amigos lo han tenido entre sus animes favoritos desde siempre, pero sinceramente nunca me ha llamado la atención. Quizá luego me lea el manga, lo prefiero así.

Puedes darle una oportunidad a One Piece, de verdad no es malo y objetivamente reconozco que todo lo que hace lo hace muy bien, es sólo que bueno... A la hora de gustos no hay nada escrito. Pero yo te lo recomendaría, es una experiencia.
