Digimon Adventure Tri: An Inevitable Journey into Our Childhood Nostalgia...

Okay... This post will make me cry. In 1999, I was only 7 years old. I was a lonely little girl who loved to watch television. At home, we couldn't afford to pay for cable TV, so I had to wait from Monday to Friday, in the afternoons, to watch anime and cartoons that were broadcast by the public television of my country... There, one spring afternoon, if I remember correctly, I was able to watch the first episode of Digimon Adventure. They were children, a group of them, a bit strange, a bit different, wrapped up in a world they didn't know but which had suddenly become their reality...

We don't forget that we are at the very edge of the millennia. The generation that grew up with the Internet and ultra-fast micro chips, has no idea what the world was like in my generation... The fears, the uncertainty; and the world of animation, and therefore anime, would be no exception. On the contrary, what did happen is that I became completely hooked on Digimon.... By the summer of 2000 I had already finished that wonderful first season, and frankly I (and I think all those who were my age or similar) demanded more and more Digimon Adventure.

And so came Digimon Adventure 02 and a whole bunch of stories, sequels, digievolutions, etc, etc. But frankly, none of them had the substance or the affection that that season cousin had... 14 years in the future had to pass before a sudden hit of nostalgia and rapture assaulted my senses. Not even Netflix in Latin America had the fame or market share it has today. Again, the world lives in constant change, 9 years ago in the past, the world looked like what it is today but it wasn't what it is today? So, there I was, sitting quietly at my computer when an email arrived and occupied my attention... ‘Digimon Adventure Tri, new series. Premiere 21/11/2015’.

I'll never be able to forget what I felt at that moment... My eyes filled with tears, I immediately googled if the news was true, and indeed it was. Crunchyroll, my first streaming system of my life, had given me the most beautiful notification. Digimon didn't want to relaunch a new product, nothing like that... I wanted to make a series of OVA's for its fans, who are millions of us, precisely with that generation of chosen children who made us fall in love with this franchise in the first place. Plus, it was the 15th anniversary of the series and it all seemed to fit together beautifully. And honestly, it did...

From the opening, to the countless excellently animated references (that only the most attentive fans can relate to) to that first series in 1999, it made it impossible not to cry. In 2015, I was 23 years old... But the first two OVA's released at the time stole my breath. I cried, I laughed, I reminisced, and I even remember writing about how I felt in notes that have since disappeared. Without a doubt, it was a shock and a pleasant surprise. I'm more than convinced that many in this community have seen Digimon Adventure Tri, and I think at some point they can relate to these words. It was a wise move, you know? Anime means a lot to a lot of people. And making its fans feel that they still remember them is worth a lot; too much...

digimon what memories, I liked it a lot, excellent post!

Digimon Adventure Tri (2015 - 2018),not Digimon Adventure (1999) but yeah!

jeje si se que no es la misma, solo que la palabra digimon me trajo recuerdos, pero esa si la del 2015 creo que no la vi de verdad

hehe yes I know it's not the same, only that the word digimon brought back memories, but that if the 2015 I think I did not really see it.

Yeah! @yasmarit Hope you find the time to watch it

I haven't had the chance to watch Digimon Adventure Tri yet , but like you I felt a lot of nostalgia when I heard it was going to be aired.

I can't explain how much I liked Digimon Adventure, in fact, I liked it much more than any season of Pokemon, I still listen to the openings today, these are wonderful.

Thanks for sharing with the community.

So, you love Digimon? Well, stop waiting, friend. Go now and watch it. Then, come back here and we will discuss. I promise you something, prepare the tears. Digimon Adventure Tri and next to it: Digimon The Last Evolution, Kizuma (the Final movie from this generation).... Do that and return! @musicandreview

Did they really show anime on public TV in your country? That's cool haha
I also have a great affection and appreciation for Digimon. And I think that those of us who watched it when we were less than 12 years old were lucky. It's a great series for kids. I can still remember when Agemon first appeared. Who has since become my favorite digimon.
The thing about Digimon is that it's super emotional and they know how to make you cry. I remember the ending where the hat flies off while listening to the opening song in a cappella and I get emotional.

😭

Well, you seemed to fit for a Digimon fan. So, I recommend you to watch "Digimon The Last Evolution Kizuma". It's the end of this generation, placed in 2010 (the story, not the movies. Premiered in 2020). I watched recently and I couldn't stop crying. It's emotional, yes, like you said but it is also wonderful, and warm. Thank you so muc for stopping by and commenting @leansorribas
