Within the universe of Gantz there are several productions or rather adaptations that have emerged from his excellent manga, including some Live action that I have not seen yet, the anime that remained unfinished, and the CGI called Gantz: O, which I'm going to write about today in this post.
Beforehand I tell you that this is a good start to see if you know nothing about the world of Gantz, since here we have a main character in the series but who has his first mission, and basic and simple things are explained to get an idea of everything that this magnificent universe offers.
I must say that it is an excellent CGI, one of the best I've seen, even better than many that are produced today, and this one was made 9 years ago in 2016. Hiroya Oku's manga continues to carry weight in our times, and more so when we see productions like “The Squid Game” or “Alice in Borderland” which are quite well known today.
While these are made in another cinematic sphere, the essence of the survival game is maintained, and from there I can say that Gantz could have been of inspiration for these movies in some sense. Now, going back to the CGI Gantz: O, it is certainly an interesting adaptation, very condensed with important characters that appear in the original series.
Even the character attributes of the characters are maintained, and that fascinates me. Nishi is still a merciless egoist, Susuki a very paternal old man, Reika beautiful as always and Kato with his protective instinct. As soon as it starts we have the death of Kurono, the main protagonist, who appears later in some flashbacks, but he is not the central character in this CGI but Kato and the aforementioned.
The aesthetic design of the characters, both humans and monsters that appear is spectacular, the production company Digital Frontier did an excellent job, as expected due to its good reputation and trajectory. I really have no complaints about their work on this CGI.
Gantz: O, takes us to Osaka where the mission takes place. Keep in mind that in this adaptation we only see one mission, but with a high level of difficulty, so much so that two teams from different cities in Japan are brought together to carry it out, amidst the characters that appear, Anzu gains some weight in the story because she is related to Kato instead of her Osaka origins, and influences some of the character's final decisions.
I honestly like the essence of the game, I think it is a very well worked element in all the series, and in Gantz: O is no exception, because you must survive at any cost to “temporarily return” to your original life, get points to be totally free of the game, and defeat the final boss before the time set to accomplish the goal is over.
In addition to that, sentimental themes that do not escape reality are touched upon, such as love, compassion, the will to live, and others. All in all, Gantz: O is a great adaptation, which I highly recommend. So, if you haven't seen it yet, grab your popcorn, your Coke and go do it, as I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

I remember that this movie was revolutionary at the time, I saw Gantz on Animax channel (now defunct) and it was one of the anime I liked the most at that time.
Thanks for sharing!
No doubt, my friend. When it was launched it was really well received. I tell you I also watched Gantz on Animax haha, what a great channel back then.
I still haven't watch it, I watch the main anime and read the manga I wasn't so curious about other productions but this one seems interesting.
Yes, it is very good indeed. 90 minutes to narrate a mission with excellent graphics, plot and animation.
I'm glad you've seen the anime and read the manga, you're one of mine haha.
It's one of the few anime adaptations that have been done well and as you say, the CGI is really good, better than many today.
Yes, my friend. It really was very well done, somewhat atypical at the time but widely received. And its quality endures.
Regards
Is it a video game or an anime?
A CGI of Gantz (manga - anime)

It is a real pleasure for me to do so. Thank you
I will only say that things were done with more love before, and that's why jewels like this will last over time.
Exactly, you hit the nail on the head
Oh I remember this classic. Was a good movie just for the fandom.
