Looking for a romance anime packed with themes of overwhelming emotions? Then look no further than I WANT TO EAT YOUR PANCREAS. Based on a 2015 novel written by Yory sumino, Kimi no Suizo wa Tabetai is a Japanese anime film that was released in 2018. The anime tells the story of a boy in highschool who stumbled on the diary of his classmates by accident and discovers that she has a deadly illness. The girl Sakura Yamauchi has kept the secret hidden from the entire class so that she can keep living what's left of her life without people feeling sorry for her.
The boy who found the diary is revealed to be Haruki Shiga, a boy who has a completely opposite personality compared to Sakura's cheerful and extroverted life style. He is usually quiet, prefers to be alone but despite their differences, the two are able to develop an unusual bond that transcends ordinary friendship.

At the very beginning Haruki is reluctant about becoming friends with Sakura finding pleasure in solitude but after acting indifferent even after discovering about her terminal pancreatic illness his actions shocked Sakura who is used to people feeling sorry for her or avoid talking about her condition in general, she is moved which made her want to be friends with him even more and making Haruki promise not to tell any one to which after much persuasion agrees to Sakura's terms.
The sudden closeness between both parties becomes the center of attention in school with Sakura's closest friends warning her about it because she believes that Haruki is a no good outsider but despite it all she still chooses to stay friends with Haruki chipping off the walls he built to keep people out bit by bit. They began to spend time together even going on a trip to the beach and Haruka soon discovers how full of life Haruka was despite having a limited time to live.

The bond grew exponentially to the extent that Haruki who once believed that emotions and relationship were unnecessary ends up feeling something really for Sakura going as far as wanting to protect her from the very fate that awaits even he knows he can't.
One day, as Sakura and Haruki were both walking together after a fun day out, Sakura tells Haruki about an old Japanese belief when entails that if you eat the organ of a healthy person, you will end up with a healthy organ too. She then playfully says, "I want to eat your pancreas" meaning that she wishes to have a healthy organ so that she can live longer.

With the bond ever growing, Sakura invites Haruka on a special dinner date. This makes Haruka extremely nervous as he plans to tell her about how he feels for her but Sakura never shows up . Later on that very night, Haruka discovers that Sakura has been stabbed to death by a random assailant from the local news. This shocking event caused Haruka to revert to his previous self, isolating himself from the rest of the world wondering why someone so full of life can disappear from the world in an instant.

A few days later, Haruka receives a letter from Sakura's mom. The contents of the letter was filled with Sakura telling Haruka she had feelings for him all along with the intent to reveal all of it on the dinner date that never happened. She told him to live his life to the fullest even without her embracing all of life's ups and downs. Determined to honour her memory, Haruka begins to open himself to the world. He reaches out to Sakura's closest friend who hated him along showing her the diary and they both work things out. The movie ends with Haruka visiting Sakura's grave and though her life with him was
short , she made a huge impact on him teaching him the importance of life, love and the importance of human relations.
