Coming from a tribe where reincarnation is not just a belief but a way of life contributing to a vast section of its values, it is no secret why I love isekai animes. The genre used to be one of the most interesting and exhilarating parts of the universe with the first for me being an anime called DRIFTERS. The very idea of being transported and or born in another world that is completely different and free from the restrictions plaguing real life really lit a spark in my head and the fact that my folks always told me I was the reincarnation of my grandpa made me more accepting to its ideals. The genre usually explored new ideas about adventures and fantasies that brought a sense of fresh air into the anime verse especially for newbies who want to try something new but now it has become nothing more than an empty, generic pile of nonsense that just feels like the authors of these works are simply using the copy and paste buttons on all their projects with titles that neither makes sense or captivates the audience.
To be honest I can't even remember the last time I watched a legit isekai anime that represents authenticity. The main characters barely have to work for their success, posses any reasonable form of character development or the necessary themes for connection. Back in the good old days when isekai was at its peak, there were masterpieces like no game no life, drifters, the first few seasons of Sword Art online, Konosuba and my all time favourite Mushoku Tensei where you get to feel the depth of its storytelling and incredible world building unlike these shallow laziness I see everyday with forgettable plots that all follow the same pattern- DISGRACEFUL.

The current phase of this genre usually starts with either a neet ( a person who stays in doors all day gaming and has no real social life) , a bullied a high school kid or an overworked/ underappreciated salary man who either dies from exhaustion or is hit by a truck transporting them to another world where they are first met by the god( Kami sama) of the universe, giving them an overpowered set of skills and abilities before finally letting them loose in their new body. The setting is usually fantasy medieval style where magic and sword fighting exists and the protagonist usually excels more in both than every person or just focused on magic but is still the best in the field even without any form of prior knowledge or training. There is always a big bad usually with the title of DEMON LORD who is out to destroy the world with the MC being the only true resistance to his world domination objectives.
It only gets worse from here, the protagonist is also sounded by different varieties of girls from different races all of whom are attracted and obsessed with him despite his bland personality. Every problem that pops up during the course of the adventure is almost immediately squashed by the Hero with little to no effort or any form of struggle and the most annoying part of it all would be their titles. I once saw an anime with the name the time I got reincarnated as a vending machine, what is this supposed to be about by the way. Some of the titles are so long that they give away the entire plot of the anime without even watching them. It's like they don't even care about their work anymore and if you ask me I believe the anime that started this dumb troupe would have to be 'That time I got reincarnated as a slime'.
The list of unnecessary mistakes goes on and on and I am begining to lose hope I'm the genre I was loved and adored. What exactky is the problem. Are the authors of this monstrosities tired of they just don't care about the work they put out anymore. There are still a few good isekai animes released in this day and age but for every decent isekai, there is over a hundred terrible ones to make you question your very existence.
The genre still remains one way up there among the greats for me but if some sort of intervention does not cleanse out this stain on its record, then I am afraid that we might just have to put it down for good.

Viniendo de una tribu donde la reencarnación no es solo una creencia, sino una forma de vida que contribuye a una gran parte de sus valores, no es ningún secreto por qué amo los animes isekai. El género solía ser una de las partes más interesantes y emocionantes del universo, y el primero para mí fue un anime llamado Drifters. La idea de ser transportado o renacer en otro mundo completamente diferente y libre de las restricciones que plagan la vida real realmente encendió una chispa en mi cabeza. Y el hecho de que mi familia siempre me dijera que era la reencarnación de mi abuelo me hizo aceptar aún más sus ideales.
El género solía explorar nuevas ideas sobre aventuras y fantasías que aportaban un soplo de aire fresco al mundo del anime, especialmente para los principiantes que querían probar algo nuevo. Pero ahora no es más que un montón vacío y genérico de tonterías, donde parece que los autores simplemente usan copiar y pegar en todos sus proyectos, con títulos que ni tienen sentido ni logran cautivar al público.
Para ser honesto, ni siquiera recuerdo la última vez que vi un anime isekai legítimo que representara autenticidad. Los protagonistas apenas tienen que esforzarse para tener éxito, carecen de cualquier desarrollo de personaje razonable o de los temas necesarios para generar conexión. En los buenos tiempos, cuando el isekai estaba en su mejor momento, había obras maestras como No Game No Life, Drifters, las primeras temporadas de Sword Art Online, Konosubay mi favorita de todos los tiempos, Mushoku Tensei, donde podías sentir la profundidad de la historia y la increíble construcción de su mundo. No como esta pereza superficial que veo todos los días con tramas olvidables que siguen el mismo patrón… ¡DESHONROSO!
La fase actual de este género suele comenzar con un neet (una persona que se queda en casa todo el día jugando y sin vida social), un estudiante de secundaria acosado o un asalariado sobrecargado y sin aprecio, que muere por agotamiento o es atropellado por un camión, transportándolo a otro mundo. Allí es recibido por el dios (Kami-sama) del universo, quien le otorga un conjunto de habilidades y poderes extremadamente rotos antes de dejarlo en su nuevo cuerpo. El escenario suele ser un mundo de fantasía medieval con magia y combates con espadas, donde el protagonista sobresale en ambos mejor que cualquier persona o simplemente se enfoca en la magia, pero sigue siendo el mejor sin necesidad de conocimiento o entrenamiento previo. Siempre hay un gran villano con el título de Rey Demonio que quiere destruir el mundo, y el protagonista es la única resistencia real a sus objetivos de dominación mundial.
Y aquí es donde empeora aún más. El protagonista siempre está rodeado de diferentes tipos de chicas de distintas razas, todas obsesionadas con él a pesar de su personalidad insípida. Cada problema que surge en la aventura se resuelve casi de inmediato con poco o ningún esfuerzo o dificultad. Y lo peor de todo son los títulos ridículos. Una vez vi un anime llamado La vez que me reencarné como una máquina expendedora… ¿de qué se supone que trata eso? Algunos títulos son tan largos que te cuentan toda la trama del anime sin siquiera verlo. Es como si ya ni les importara el trabajo que producen. Y si me lo preguntas, creo que el anime que empezó esta tontería fue That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime.
La lista de errores innecesarios sigue y sigue, y estoy empezando a perder la esperanza en el género que tanto amé y adoré. ¿Cuál es exactamente el problema? ¿Los autores de estas atrocidades están cansados o simplemente no les importa la calidad de su trabajo? Todavía hay algunos buenos animes isekai en esta época, pero por cada isekai decente, hay más de cien terribles que te hacen cuestionar tu existencia.
Este género sigue estando entre mis favoritos, pero si no ocurre alguna intervención para limpiar la mancha en su historial, me temo que tendremos que darle el golpe de gracia.
