I love the art-style too, actually even more than the modern art-style of Detective Conan.

Considering it's adapted from a manga I think it can get more episodes depending on the number of chapters released, Saiki Kusuou is a comedy anime with short episodes and it had 120 episodes in season 1, and then had a sequel, so it is possible.
