One of the few times when an animated horror tv show is actually scary, or at least causes real discomfort. Or at least that was the perception for several years after Higurashi's release. Strangely enough, the Japanese are able to perfectly convey various emotions with images, words or music, but when it comes to fear they often fail.

I understand you, in Japan they have many of the scariest stories that exist and their material to contribute to the horror genre is very vast. However, when it comes to the anime industry, very few meet the high standards of horror that one expects from a country as rich in this type of stories as Japan is. If there are good horror animes, they are very few and almost unknown.
Among the best, for me, is Higurashi for the way it conveys a more emotional, mental and realistic horror. It is not about themes like ghosts, monsters or creatures from space, but about human beings who sink into madness and kill, causing horror and a feeling of uneasiness and indescribable suspense.
Thank you very much for the support.
