I have similar thoughts. I only differ in that I bet on a different genre, although initially I also bet on the return of action shounen, but not as long as the tapes of our times. However, they will definitely be action series, because the younger generations like things to happen quickly on the screen.

Shounen is easily one of the genres that can't be forgotten, and yes action series are indeed much more compatible with larger audiences because it doesn't complicate things that much. Unlike other genres that somehow need compatibility of perspective (because you can't watch a seinen if the ideology there contradicts yours—and so as romance. There are concepts that are like a bitter pill for me as much as possible I steer clear from them). Shounen however is much more open...maybe because its goal usually isn't that complicated, and younger generation do like those because they're enjoyable and also aren't taxing to understand.
A fair point about ideology. A certain group of people watch anime to confront their views or to get angry about something they don't like. It doesn't necessarily have to be so-called hate-watching, but something that can develop in that direction. You can watch something like that, but the older I get, the more often I leave such heavier titles for free time, appropriate atmosphere (autumn and winter are good for this). Or I skip them altogether, so as not to get angry xD.
Ahahahaha I definitely agree with this one because sometimes there are anime series that I really skip because I don't want to compromise my current mood, so maybe some other time when my mood coincides with them I'll get back if I can remember them again 𓁹‿𓁹 ʰᵉʰᵉ
