At the end of the fight, Mugen and Jin are arrested to be executed the next day. Fuu helps them escape in exchange for helping her find the "samurai who smells like sunflowers." Despite agreeing to the deal, Mugen and Jin are always trying to finish each other off, in an almost professional rivalry. Both samurai have a blurry past. Thus, the story tells of their journeys through dark paths and passages, and how they fix the messes they get into.
