The season finale I would think is one of the best things I've seen, and with kimetsu it's not hard to be surprised by the quality he has. Zenitsu's downfall and his personality change is what I aspire to see the most (I actually know what happened but I want to see it animated).
In effect everything is a transition for the three movies to come. I'm not a big fan of that format, I think that given the great acceptance of the anime they want to lengthen it for economic purposes, we know that money is everything. Yes I think like you that the pauses are necessary but I hope they don't go overboard with this. There are several fights coming up that will surely be of high impact. Rengoku's death will be nothing for what awaits us.
