Sounds very interesting... I love that anime can touch on such deep themes as war and friendship, and that it also has literary references. The combination of a good story with well done animation is always a plus. Thanks for sharing!

You're welcome! Its theme really intrigued me because it wasn't often that I got to see a historical anime that was inspired by real-life accounts, especially about the post-war era. I really like how it was able to incorporate the literary inspiration it had into the experience of the people during those times... so yeah, if it piqued your interest, then you definitely need to watch it.
