Hello everyone my anime fan friends, I hope you are all doing great today... this time, I want to share a new review of a pretty unique and fun anime... today I'll talk about Pretty Boy Detective Club, honestly, many people may have dismissed this anime at the time because it seemed too childish or even boring... even the premise seems strange, we're talking about a club with ridiculously attractive people solving problems and mysteries... and although at first I thought it would be something super random and without a joke, the truth is that I couldn't be more wrong, in part yes, it is about good-looking people solving mysteries.. but it is also much more than that.
The story begins with a girl, Mayumi, who is trying to find a star she saw when she was a child... a beautiful star in the sky, that inspired her to dream big... into her life enters Manabu, a little eccentric young man who is obsessed with beauty in every sense of the word... he is the leader of the Pretty Boy Detective Club, a group of curious characters with quite particular personalities... in this group we will find Nagahiro, the student council president, who is a master of oratory, we will also meet Michiru, a rebellious boy with a secret talent for cooking, Hyota, the athlete whose fame is due to his legendary and fabulous legs... and Sosaku, the silent artist who is dedicated to creating masterpieces, but almost never speaks... and obviously we have to mention Manabu, the leader, a quite optimistic boy who always has something to say, and obviously everyone listens to him because well, he's Manabu.
These guys start to get involved with this girl and their life changes completely, becoming much more colorful and fun.. the concept of the club is crazy, they only accept cases that are, between "pretty" what does that mean? It's never implied as such, but it's part of the charm of the entire series. The first case they take on, is to help Mayumi find said star, the development of this case may seem quite silly, but it hooked me immediately. The way they approach the mystery is so exaggerated and at the same time thoughtful.. it's not just about solving the problem as such, but they try to find the beauty in the whole process.. that gives the show quite an entertaining energy and makes you, as a viewer, think about beauty in ways you probably had never considered, since it's something that goes far beyond simple physical attractiveness.
Hola a todos amigos fanticos del anime, espero que se encuentren súper bien el día de hoy.. en esta ocasión, quiero compartir una nueva reseña de un anime bastante único y divertido.. hoy les hablaré de Pretty Boy Detective Club, honestamente, puede que muchas personas descartaran este anime en su momento, debido a que se veía muy infantil o incluso aburrido.. es que incluso la premisa se ve extraña, estamos hablando de un club con personas ridículamente atractivas resolviendo problemas y misterios.. y aunque yo al principio pensaba que sería algo súper aleatorio y sin chiste, la verdad es que no podría estar más equivocado, en parte sí, se trata de personas apuestas resolviendo misterios.. pero también es mucho más que eso.
La historia comienza con una chica, Mayumi, que está intentando encontrar a una estrella que vio cuando era niña.. una estrella hermosa en el cielo, que la inspiró a soñar en grande.. a su vida entra Manabu, un pequeño excéntrico joven que está obsesionado con la belleza en todos los sentidos.. él es el líder del Pretty Boy Detective Club, un grupo de curiosos personajes con personalidades bastante particulares.. en este grupo encontraremos a Nagahiro, el presidente del consejo estudiantil, que es un maestro de la oratoria, también conoceremos a Michiru, un chico rebelde con un talento secreto para cocinar, a Hyota, el atleta cuya fama se debe a sus legendarias y fabulosas piernas.. y a Sosaku, el artista silencioso que se dedica a crear obras maestras, pero casi nunca habla.. y obviamente tenemos que mencionar a Manabu, el líder, un chico bastante optimista y que siempre tiene algo que decir, y obviamente todos lo escuchan porque bueno, es Manabu.
Estos chicos empiezan a relacionarse con esta chica y su vida cambia por completo, volviéndose mucho más colorida y divertida.. el concepto del club es una locura, solo aceptan casos que sean, entre "bonitos" ¿Eso qué significa? Nunca se da a entender como tal, pero es parte del encanto de toda la serie. El primer caso que abordan, es el ayudar a Mayumi a encontrar dicha estrella, el desarrollo de este caso puede parecer bastante tonto, pero a mí me enganchó de inmediato. La forma en la que abordan el misterio es tan exagerada y a la vez reflexiva.. no se trata solo de resolver el problema como tal, sino que tratan de buscar la belleza en todo el proceso.. eso le da al show una energía bastante entretenida y te hace, a ti como espectador, pensar en la belleza de formas que probablemente nunca habías considerado, ya que es algo que va mucho más allá del simple atractivo físico.
Manabu is the heart and soul of the series.. this character in particular feels almost otherworldly, he’s a boy who sees the beauty in everything, and has an infectious enthusiasm.. you really can’t help but grow fond of him and root for him, but what really struck me though, was how perfectly the rest of the group fits in with him.. and putting everyone in the same club is a pretty difficult job. They’re all so different.. I mean, who would have thought that a delinquent, a jock, and the student council president could all work together? Yet, they’re all united by this shared appreciation of beauty.. it’s just.. I don’t know, kind of inspiring and weird to describe, but it kind of hooks you in.
And obviously we have to talk about the animation, the strongest point of this anime.. if you’re a fan of Shaft’s work on Monogatari, you’re in for a treat for the eyes, the visuals are truly stunning, with vibrant and detailed backgrounds that make every scene feel like a piece of art.. there are certain scenes where they’re simply discussing a mystery, and the art style completely changes to reflect the whole specific tone of each theory.. this whole series is so creative and adds so many visual things to the narrative.. they play with animation in some amazing ways, that I really recommend watching it on a screen with the highest quality possible in order to appreciate it properly.
Honestly, I think this type of series is one of those that maybe isn’t the most narratively striking, but the technical part is so impressive that for that alone it’s worth watching.. the mysteries themselves aren’t exactly revolutionary or impactful, they’re more like a medium or a vehicle to explore the characters and their interactions, which for me is the best thing about anime. All the conversations are witty, funny, and sometimes totally absurd, but that's exactly what makes the whole cast and the group dynamic so entertaining.. it's really fun to watch Manabu jumping to weird, outlandish conclusions out of nowhere but trying to give it an explanation that ends up being pretty coherent to a certain extent and obviously all related to the philosophy of beauty.. it's so over the top, but at the same time so brilliant, I think that even though the series is about detectives, you don't watch it because the mysteries are too complicated, but rather it's a series that's interesting to watch because of the background behind it and obviously the cast of characters.
Manabu es el corazón y alma de la serie.. este personaje en particular se siente casi de otro mundo, es un chico que le ve la belleza a todo, y tiene un entusiasmo contagioso.. realmente no puedes evitar encariñarte con él y apoyarlo, pero lo que realmente me impactó en sí, fue cómo el resto del grupo encaja perfectamente con él.. y es que poner todos en el mismo club es un trabajo bastante difícil. Todos son tan diferentes.. quiero decir, ¿quién habría pensado que un delincuente, un deportista, y el presidente del consejo estudiantil podrían trabajar juntos? Sin embargo, todos están unidos por esta apreciación compartida de la belleza.. es simplemente.. no sé, algo inspirador y raro de describir, pero te engancha de buena manera.
Y obviamente tenemos que hablar de la animación, el punto más fuerte de este anime.. si eres fanático del trabajo de Shaft en Monogatari, te espera un deleite para los ojos, los visuales son realmente impresionantes, con fondos vibrantes y detallados que hacen que cada escena sienta como una obra de arte.. hay ciertas escenas en las que están discutiendo simplemente un misterio, y el estilo artístico cambia completamente para reflejar todo el tono específico de cada teoría.. toda esta serie es tan creativa y añade muchas cosas visuales a la narrativa.. juegan con la animación de maneras increíbles, que realmente recomiendo verla en una pantalla con la máxima calidad posible para poder apreciarla como debe ser.
Honestamente, creo que este tipo de serie es de aquellas que tal vez no sean las más llamativas narrativamente, pero la parte técnica es tan impresionante que solo por eso vale la pena verla.. los misterios en sí no son exactamente revolucionarios ni impactantes, son más como un medio o un vehículo para explorar a los personajes y sus interacciones, que para mí es lo mejor del anime. Todas las conversaciones son ingeniosas, divertidas y a veces totalmente absurdas, pero es justo eso lo que hace que todo el elenco y la dinámica del grupo sea tan entretenido.. es muy divertido ver a Manabu sacando conclusiones extrañas y extravagantes de la nada, pero intentando darle una explicación que hasta cierto punto termina siendo bastante coherente y obviamente todo relacionado a la filosofía de la belleza.. es tan exagerado, pero a la vez tan brillante, creo que aunque la serie se trata de detectives, no la ves porque los misterios sean demasiado complicados, sino que es una serie que es interesante de ver por el trasfondo que tiene detrás y obviamente el elenco de personajes.
While I really liked it, I have to admit that I had some issues with it… for one, some of the side characters outside of the detective group, like the antagonists or the people involved in the mysteries, aren’t fully developed… there are some really good characters, and it’s like we’re given glimpses of their potential, but it’s never really fleshed out enough to fully understand them. There were times where I thought: Oh wait a minute, I want to know so much more about this person… but then the anime just goes ahead and completely dismisses it… and while I loved the main cast, I would have liked to see them go a lot deeper into the stories related to the mysteries, it’s something that would have been super interesting, and would have served to make the series feel a bit more serious… not that it needed it, but if it were it would have been an added bonus I would have loved it.
And also, another thing I would like to mention is the humor… sometimes it’s so dry and self-aware, that you have to work a bit to understand it, but that doesn’t mean it stops being funny. Personally, I love absurd humor, and it's always constant... so, I have to say that, if you don't like things that don't make sense at all, and you prefer a more light-hearted or logical humor, well, it's possible that some jokes won't be funny for you, and they might even put you off. But well, for example, there's a recurring joke about how absurdly extravagant their school is... really ridiculous things like them having a helicopter ready to be used for unknown reasons, I mean, things like that that are so... crazy, but the anime and the story treat it so naturally, and in the best way possible, that it's extremely funny.
Si bien me gustó mucho, tengo que admitir que tuve algunos problemas.. por un lado, algunos de los personajes secundarios fuera del grupo de detectives, como los antagonistas o las personas involucradas en los misterios, no estan completamente desarrollados.. hay algunos personajes muy buenos, y es como si nos dieran destellos de su potencial, pero nunca se profundiza lo suficiente para entenderlos del todo. Hubo momentos en los que pensé: Ya va, espera un momento, quiero saber mucho más de esta persona.. pero luego el anime simplemente sigue adelante y lo descarta completamente.. y aunque me encantó el elenco principal, me hubiera gustado que profundizaran mucho más en las historias relacionadas a los misterios, es algo que habría sido súper interesante, y fuera servido para que la serie se sintiera un poco más seria.. no es que lo necesitara, pero si fuera sido un plus adicional que me fuera encantado.
Y también, otra cosa que quisiera mencionar es el humor.. a veces es tan seco y autoconsciente, que tienes que esforzarte un poco para entenderlo, pero eso no significa que dejes de ser gracioso. A mí personalmente me encanta el humor absurdo, y siempre es constante.. entonces, debo decir que, si a ti no te gustan para nada las cosas que no tienen sentido, y prefieres un humor más llevadero o más lógico, pues, es posible que algunos chistes no te hagan mucha gracia, y pueden que hasta te echen para atrás. Pero bueno, por ejemplo, hay un chiste recurrente sobre lo absurdamente extravagante que es su escuela.. cosas muy ridículas como que tengan un helicóptero listo para usarse por razones desconocidas, o sea, cosas como esas que son tan.. locas, pero el anime y la historia lo tratan con tanta naturalidad, y de la mejor manera posible, que es sumamente gracioso.
By the end of the series i was completely moved and satisfied.. it’s not a perfect series, but it has so much heart and charm that you can’t help but love it.. each episode has a special way of capturing your attention and surprising you with its animation, whether it’s because of the moments of unexpected humor or because of some impressive details.. everything enriches the experience a lot. As I mentioned, the main characters have such a natural and entertaining chemistry that it’s very easy to become fond of them and want to see them more and more, even when their actions are extremely exaggerated and unrealistic, you end up enjoying it all a lot.. one of the most interesting things about this anime is the way it approaches the concept of beauty.. many would think that it is only about physical beauty, but no, this is not limited to the superficial, but rather they explore the idea of finding beauty in everyday life, in human relationships, and obviously in unexpected moments.
It’s a message that feels refreshing and optimistic, especially in a medium that can be very cynical and serious at times. If you like shows that mix humor, beautiful animation, and a touch of reflection, as well as cute guys, then I’m sure you can be just as satisfied as I was. I would give it a rating of 8.5/10. It’s not an anime that’s going to blow your mind with its mysteries, but it will definitely make you smile, and maybe even make you think a little differently about the world around you when it comes to beauty. I think it’s a pretty cool anime, and while it’s somewhat well-known, I feel it deserves a lot more recognition. And well, that’s all for today. Al final de la serie estaba completamente conmovido y satisfecho.. no es una serie perfecta, pero tiene tanto corazón y encanto que no puedes evitar amarlo.. cada episodio tiene una manera especial de captar tu atención y de asombrarte con su animación, ya sea por los momentos de humor inesperado o por algunos detalles impresionantes.. todo enriquece mucho la experiencia. Como les mencionaba, los personajes principales tienen una química tan natural y entretenida que es muy fácil encariñarte con ellos y querer verlos más y más, incluso cuando sus acciones son sumamente exageradas y poco realistas, acabas disfrutando mucho de todo.. una de las cosas más interesantes que tiene este anime es la forma en la que aborda el concepto de belleza.. muchos pensarían que solo se trata de la belleza física, pero no, esto no se limita a lo superficial, sino que exploran la idea de encontrar belleza en lo cotidiano, en las relaciones humanas, y obviamente en los momentos inesperados.
Es un mensaje que se siente refrescante y optimista, especialmente en un medio que a veces puede ser muy cínico y serio.. si te gustan las series que mezclan humor, hermosa animación y un toque de reflexión, además de chicos guapos, pues estoy seguro que puedes quedar igual de satisfecho que yo. Yo le daría una calificación de 8.5/10. No es un anime que te vaya a volar la mente con sus misterios, pero sin duda te hará sonreír, y tal vez incluso te haga pensar un poco diferente sobre el mundo que te rodea en cuanto a la belleza se trata. Creo que es un anime bastante genial, que si bien es algo conocido, siento que merece mucho más reconocimiento.. y bueno, eso es todo por hoy.
