Hello everyone, dear friends of The Anime Realm community. I hope you are feeling great today... this time I want to share with you all a new review of a series that I saw some time ago, but that was very important for me at the time, because I identified myself a lot with the things that happened in this story. So today I will tell you about my opinions about the anime ReLIFE. This anime left me with many emotions, it made me laugh and in some other moments it allowed me to reflect deeply about certain topics. It is one of those series that have a special charm... they present a story that could be a little short, but I felt it was very complete... As I was saying, I feel that this anime surprised me in many aspects, and I am sure that many of you will find that special something in it if you give it a chance.
The plot starts with Arata, a 27 year old man who has lost the direction of his life, I'm sure many of us, came to feel that way, or we probably do, right. He is stuck in a loop of low paying jobs and feels he has no future in Japanese society.. this is something quite common for many young adults in Japan, however, his life takes an unexpected turn when he meets a young guy who is a representative of a secret project called ReLife.. this young guy offers Arata the chance to go back in time, literally. Giving him some sort of medicine or pill that will rejuvenate him to the point of being 17 years old again, so that he can re-experience high school life and have a new perspective with which he can change his future.
The premise sounds simple and a bit crazy, but I think the concept of “starting over” carries an emotional weight that the anime manages to explore in a very good way. Through the 13 main episodes and the 4 ovas that conclude the story, ReLIFE takes us on a journey through the difficulties of adolescence and the regret we may have when we reach adulthood. We are presented with two stages that sometimes are not fully understood until they have already been lived, but are very necessary for each person and can shape our lives in a way that we may not have expected.

Espero que se encuentren genial en el día de hoy.. en esta ocasión les quiero compartir a todos ustedes una nueva reseña de una serie que vi hace algún tiempo, pero que fue muy importante para mí en su momento, ya que me identifique mucho con las cosas que sucedían en esta historia. Así que hoy les hablaré de mis opiniones sobre el anime ReLIFE. Este anime me dejó con muchas emociones, me causó risa y en algunos otros momentos me permitió reflexionar de manera profunda sobre ciertos temas. Es una de esas series que tienen un encanto especial.. nos presentan una historia que podría ser algo corta, pero que yo sentí que estaba muy completa.. Como les decía, siento que este anime me sorprendió en muchos aspectos, y estoy seguro de que muchos de ustedes encontrarán ese algo especial en el sí le dan la oportunidad.
La trama comienza con Arata, un hombre de 27 años que ha perdido el rumbo de su vida, seguro muchos de nosotros, llegaron a sentirse así, o probablemente lo hagamos, no?. Él está atrapado en un bucle de trabajos mal remunerados y siente que no tiene futuro en la sociedad japonesa.. esto es algo bastante común para muchos adultos jóvenes en Japón, sin embargo, su vida da un giro inesperado cuando se encuentra con un joven chico que es un representante de un proyecto secreto llamado ReLife.. este joven le ofrece a Arata la oportunidad de retroceder en el tiempo, literalmente. Dándole una especie de medicina o pastilla que lo rejuvenecerá hasta el punto de tener 17 años otra vez, para que vuelva a experimentar la vida de preparatoria y tenga una nueva perspectiva con la cual él pueda cambiar su futuro.
La premisa suena simple y un poco loca, pero creo que el concepto de "volver a empezar" tiene un peso emocional que el anime logra explorar de una muy buena manera. A través de los 13 episodios principales y las 4 ovas que concluyen la historia, ReLIFE nos lleva en un viaje por las dificultades de la adolescencia y el arrepentimiento que podremos tener cuando llegamos a la adultez. Nos presentan dos etapas que a veces no se entienden del todo hasta que ya se han vivido, pero que son muy necesarias para cada persona y pueden moldear nuestras vidas de una forma que tal vez no esperábamos.
One of the strong points of this series is that we see how the protagonist, with his adult mind and some more years of experience, faces the reality of being a teenager again... throughout the episodes, we will appreciate how he tries to adapt to an environment that in theory should be familiar to him, but it is not at all. The difficulties of studying, socializing and fitting in with a group of teenagers who are concerned about problems that to an adult's eyes seem trivial, but for them are the center of their universe, becomes a great challenge for this character, there is a certain interesting contrast of ages that is handled brilliantly in the series, with very funny situations, with Arata thinking like an adult when he should behave in a certain way as a teenager, having to act many times in a way that may not be the one that comes naturally to him... this ends up being a funny resource that does manage to get some laughs out of you.
There are also moments where the adult side of Arata has a unique ability to offer honest advice to his classmates as they face their own insecurities... I consider him a character that while he seems a bit silly at first, he ends up being very complex. He learns from his mistakes and I think that's exactly what makes him more relatable... one of the surprises I got while watching this anime is the depth with which the issues of the Japanese work system are addressed, it's not just about Arata's personal redemption, but this story also serves as a subtle critique of how Japanese society perceives success and failure...
Arata's story is that of someone who was forever labeled as a “failure” after leaving his previous job due to a certain traumatic event, and has since struggled to integrate back into a society that seems to look down on him somewhat, and this causes him to constantly fail. This focus on all those job expectations and societal pressure to “fit in” is something that resonated strongly with me, as it is something I have experienced in some way.
Uno de los puntos fuertes de esta serie es que vemos como el protagonista, con su mente adulta y algunos años más de experiencia, enfrenta la realidad de ser un adolescente de nuevo.. a lo largo de los episodios, apreciaremos como él intenta adaptarse a un ambiente que en teoría le debería ser familiar, pero no lo es en absoluto. Las dificultades de estudiar, socializar y encajar en un grupo de adolescentes que están preocupados por problemas que a ojos de un adulto parecen triviales, pero para ellos son el centro de su universo, se vuelve un gran desafío para este personaje, hay cierto contraste interesante de edades que es manejado de manera brillante en la serie, con situaciones muy cómicas, con Arata pensando como un adulto cuando debería comportarse de cierta manera como un adolescente, teniendo que actuar muchas veces de una manera que tal vez no sea la que le sale natural.. esto termina siendo un recurso gracioso que sí logra sacarte algunas risas.
También hay momentos en los que el lado adulto de Arata tiene una capacidad única para ofrecer consejos sinceros a sus compañeros de clase cuando enfrentan sus propias inseguridades.. lo considero un personaje que si bien parece ser un poco tonto al principio, termina siendo muy complejo. Él va aprendiendo de sus errores y creo que es justo eso lo que lo hace más relatable.. una de las sorpresas que me llevé mientras veía este anime es la profundidad con el que se abordan los temas del sistema laboral japonés, no se trata solo de la redención personal de Arata, sino que está historia también sirve como una crítica sutil a cómo la sociedad japonesa percibe el éxito y el fracaso..
La historia de Arata es la de alguien que fue etiquetado desde siempre como un "fracasado" tras dejar su trabajo anterior debido a cierto evento traumático, y desde entonces ha luchado para volver a integrarse en una sociedad que parece despreciarlo un poco, y esto lo hace fallar constantemente. Este enfoque en todas esas expectativas laborales y la presión social para "encajar" es algo que resonó fuertemente conmigo, ya que es algo que he experimentado de alguna manera.
This anime makes it clear that life is not simply a straight path and that success has no universal definition, but shows us how one “mistake” can perhaps taint a person's future, something that feels quite unfair, but is a sad reality that is very present in Japanese work culture.. this criticism makes the series feel much more mature than it appears at first glance. For me, the real heart of this series also lies in all the interesting relationships that Arata forms throughout his “second adolescence” we see how he meets the shy Chizuru and also befriends the friendly Oga, among others, each character has their own internal conflicts that they resolve throughout the series. I feel that the way these secondary characters evolve through interactions with the main character and each other were great, especially Chizuru, who I found to be a fascinating character and quickly became one of my favorites.
She is a girl who is socially awkward and struggles to understand human emotions a bit better, which makes her a person who is easy to empathize with, the relationship she forms with Arata builds gradually and naturally, avoiding any kind of cliché coming from other types of genres... I think their dynamic in this series feels really authentic and we can see how they both help each other to be able to grow and be better. This is something that I quite liked, as it doesn't feel forced, but rather the group of friends that is forming really could be formed in any type of institution.
Este anime deja claro que la vida no es simplemente un camino recto y que el éxito no tiene una definición universal, sino que nos muestra cómo un "error" puede tal vez manchar el futuro de una persona, algo que se siente bastante injusto, pero que es una triste realidad muy presente en la cultura laboral japonesa.. esta crítica hace que la serie se sienta mucho más madura de lo que aparenta a simple vista. Para mí, el verdadero corazón de esta serie también recae en todas las relaciones interesantes que va formando Arata a lo largo de su "segunda adolescencia" vemos cómo conoce a la tímida Chizuru y también se hace amigo del amigable Oga, entre otros, cada personaje tiene sus propios conflictos internos que van resolviendo a lo largo de la serie. Siento que la manera en la que estos personajes secundarios van evolucionando gracias a las interacciones con el protagonista y entre sí fueron geniales, en especial Chizuru, que me pareció un personaje fascinante y se volvió rápidamente uno de mis favoritos.
Es una chica que es socialmente torpe y lucha por entender un poco mejor las emociones humanas, lo cual la convierte en una persona con quien es fácil poder empatizar, la relación que va formando con Arata se construye de manera gradual y natural, evitando cualquier tipo de cliché proveniente de otros tipos de géneros.. creo que su dinámica en esta serie se siente realmente auténtica y podemos ver cómo ambos se ayudan entre sí a poder crecer y ser mejor. Esto es algo que me gustó bastante, ya que no se siente forzado, sino que el grupo de amigos que se va formando realmente podría formarse en cualquier tipo de institución.
And well, speaking of the secondary characters, it's worth noting that they also get their moment to shine... this series takes its time to explore all those conflicts of school life, academic rivalries, romantic insecurities, and the desire for social acceptance. While at times the drama can seem a bit over the top, it's always interesting how the main thing comes back to focus on the message of ReLIFE, i.e. the importance of learning from mistakes and taking advantage of safe opportunities. As for the technical aspects, for example, the animation here in this anime is not the most impressive of all.. it has a clean, affectionate style that fits well with the light, emotional tone the anime is trying to convey, the facial expressions are funny, entertaining, and the comic scenes are very well animated..
The color palette is vibrant, but not overwhelming at all, which makes it an easy series to watch.. it has normal, decent animation, I liked it, it delivers. I also liked the music quite a lot... both the opening and the endings seemed to me to give a unique touch to the series... also the soundtrack in the episodes have certain melodies that are very nice and that serve perfect to accompany, and achieve establish the right atmosphere, this I always appreciate...
Y bueno, hablando de los personajes secundarios, cabe resaltar que ellos también tienen su momento para brillar.. esta serie se toma su tiempo para explorar todos esos conflictos de la vida escolar, las rivalidades académicas, las inseguridades románticas, y el deseo de aceptación social. Aunque en algunos momentos el drama puede parecer un poco exagerado, siempre es interesante cómo lo principal vuelve a centrarse en el mensaje de ReLIFE, es decir, la importancia de aprender de los errores y de aprovechar las seguras oportunidades. En cuanto a los aspectos técnicos, por ejemplo, la animación aquí en este anime no es la más impresionante de todas.. tiene un estilo limpio y afectivo que encaja bien con el tono ligero y emocional que trata de transmitir el anime, las expresiones faciales son graciosas, entretenidas, y las escenas cómicas están muy bien animadas..
La paleta de colores es vibrante, pero no es nada abrumadora, lo que hace que sea una serie fácil de ver.. tiene una animación normal, decente, a mí me gustó, cumple con su cometido. La música también me gustó bastante.. tanto el opening como los endings me parecieron que le dan un toque único a la serie.. también la banda sonora en los episodios tienen ciertas melodías que son muy lindas y que sirven perfecto para acompañar, y lograr establecer la atmósfera adecuada, esto siempre lo agradezco..
ReLife is an anime that strikes a perfect balance between comedy, drama, and teaching, with characters that are sure to make you laugh and make you think at the same time. Despite being a slice of life/school type anime, it feels very fresh and different, with a premise and approach that focuses on much more adult themes, such as failure, redemption, and finding purpose in life. I give it a 9/10 rating. At times the pacing can be a bit slow, and the ending, while satisfying, will probably leave you wanting to see much more.
As I was saying, this anime has only one season, and then, some years later, they finished the story through some ovas, so it feels like it was a bit short, but I have to be thankful that they at least bothered to finish this story. So don't forget, if you decide to watch it, don't look for a second season, because you won't find it... on the contrary, look for the final ovas that adapt the end of this story. I consider it a series that can make you rethink your own decisions and how to face certain obstacles in life.... It has an interesting mix that certainly invites you to value time and appreciate opportunities, both the first and the second, so it's a series that I would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to be entertained and at the same time reflect. ReLife es un anime que logra un equilibrio perfecto entre la comedia, el drama y la enseñanza, con personajes que seguramente te harán reír y te harán pensar al mismo tiempo. A pesar de ser un anime del tipo historias de la vida/escolar, se siente muy fresco y diferente, con una premisa y enfoque que se centra en temas mucho más adultos, como el fracaso, la redención, y la búsqueda de un propósito en la vida. Yo le doy una calificación de 9/10. A veces el ritmo puede ser un poco lento, y el final, aunque es satisfactorio, probablemente queden con ganas de ver mucho más..
Como les decía, este anime tiene una sola temporada, y luego, algunos años después, terminaron la historia mediante unas ovas, así que se siente como que fuera un poco corto, pero tengo que agradecer que por lo menos se hayan molestado en terminar esta historia. Así que no se olviden de, si deciden verlo, no busquen una segunda temporada, porque no la van a encontrar.. al contrario, busquen las ovas finales que adaptan el fin de esta historia. Considero que es una serie que puede hacer replantearte sobre tus propias decisiones y cómo se deben enfrentar ciertos obstáculos en la vida.. Tiene una mezcla interesante que sin duda te invita a valorar el tiempo y apreciar las oportunidades, tanto las primeras como las segundas, así que es una serie que sin duda recomendaría a cualquiera que quiera entretenerse y al mismo tiempo reflexionar.
