Boku no Hero: Work for what you want to be

Although I usually enjoy anime that has more to do with fighting and surviving, I started watching this one and liked the theme because it made me see it through the eyes of a mother and how I could motivate my children to make the most of their potential.

This story takes us to the life of Izuku Midoriya, a young man without gifts in a world in which most people were born with some ability in particular that can make them heroes and live off of it. His greatest desire is to become like "All Might", the most recognized hero in the city, whom he has admired since he was a child.

One point that I like is that, in his process of wanting to reach the top, he focuses on the study of the qualities of each one of them, carrying a notebook with notes on the performances in the different scenarios in which they have had to face the villains and save the city.

Up to here, it might seem like a pretty simple story, but the plot is based on how a young man must face his own fears to achieve what he wants, supported by someone who sees his potential even though he lacks a super gift.

It is a story in which the enemies are more than the friends, something so similar to reality that any adult can see themselves reflected in it, remembering how the process that has led them to where they are today.

Even reading a little bit about the process that led to the mangaka Kōhei Horikoshi, who after a failure, took up an isolated idea and developed it to create this work, we can think that it is in some way the reflection of a part of his creative process.

During the story, we see how the protagonist (Midoriya) focuses on using his mind before the Gift that he is just starting to get to know, with which we see that it is not only the strength, but also the intelligence that must be put into practice both in fiction and in real life.

I haven't finished watching it yet, but the awakening of our fearful character has already begun, recognizing his inner strength above what others see of him.

I like to see that transformation because it gives me the opportunity to encourage my children in the pursuit of their dreams and show them that it is not only in fiction that someone "without talent" can reach the top, as long as they have a focus and make an effort to achieve what they so desire.

When I started watching Boku no Hero I was very excited because I like stories of overcoming and this story is a great example of that, however, over time I lost track of it.

This is without a doubt a great shonen, as soon as I have I will pick up the anime again.

Thanks for sharing with us. Regards!

That's the bad thing when you see anime that are not finished. It happened to me with Shingeki no Kyojin, but since the last season was going to be released later this year, I managed to follow it to the end.
With Boku no Hero I'm really at ease, since I also like that kind of shonen.

I loved your post and how you broke down your view of an anime series as a mother. I found it quite interesting, thank you very much!

Me resultó bastante interesante, muchas gracias!

Watching anime is a way for me to get closer to my older son, and even though sometimes we see things that are quite violent, I always try to turn it around to get a lesson out of it for him who is in that rebellious stage.

I'm trying not to go crazy and watch 5 episodes a day (like I did with One Piece) so that I can enjoy the anime and not have to switch to manga.

I got goosebumps seeing Deku struggle so hard to bear the burden of One For All, an anime that is worth the time to watch and patiently wait for the newest season. Thanks for sharing :)

It really is a difficult gift to handle, as it involves a lot of responsibility and also humility, unlike Kacchan who is more impulsive and reckless.

I’ve seen this piece and I’m happy you get it a befitting review. One of my bests so far.

It's a story that works even for you as an adult when you feel trapped in a dead end.
My son was crazy for me to watch Jojo's with him, but I refused and then he suggested this anime, and it really was a better choice (Not because Jojo's is bad, but this story suits my tastes more).

Thats is definitely a plus.

I can say that Deku is the kid that worked hard and took advantage of all the help he can get to progress and maximize his potential. Though I like Mirio's style of hardwork, make use of what you have, exploit your weakness to become your strength kind of dude.

But still, reading the manga, All Might's attitude and will make my heart weep and have an emotional bump every now and then. All Might is still the GOAT

At the beginning I saw it because of the waifus.
The hero apprentice started off well, then it got worse when he pulled out 1,000,000% Delaware Detroit Smash attacks.

I mean exceeding the 100% limit just by random script.

In the end I lost interest in the anime, because they started to put filler sports games between schools, random casual enemies, among other things that made me lose the attention of the viewers.

The series is interesting, but when they started to do the avatar thing (with previous holders of the shared power), I really stopped watching it.

I haven't gotten to that part of putting in extras yet. At the moment I watch it and I take samples of it so that my children understand that people evolve and improve, only if they want to and if they put their mind to it.
Maybe when I get to that part you say I will also lose interest, as happened to me with Clannad.

Yo todavía no he llegado a esa parte de meter extras.
