Fire force: An anime about fighting fire with fire

in The Anime Realmlast year

Hello Hive friends. Since high school, I've been watching anime and reading manga, so I'd like to take the opportunity to review for the first time. Although I don't have extensive knowledge like many, I know more or less something. I would like to start with Fire Force, which I think is an interesting anime and manga.

I learned about Fire Force from watching a video that came up by chance on my YouTube feed, of top 10 anime coming out soon. At the time, the first season hadn't even come out, but I was quite struck by the trailer showing firefighters defeating fire monsters, as well as the aesthetics of the animation. Then I lost track of the anime and forgot about it. Later, I found it on an anime page and watched it in its entirety quite often, as well as its second season, which I didn't even know it had come out. This made me read the manga, especially knowing that it had already ended.

In Fire Force, we get a little introduction to the problem at the time, which is spontaneous human combustion. This causes people to turn into monsters called infernals, which are fought by the special fire department and the fire department, made up of several members who can control the flames to fight them. To understand this a little more, we must explain that there are three types of generations of powers: the first is that of the infernals, the second is the ability to manipulate fire and the third, to which our protagonist belongs, is about creating and controlling fire.

Our protagonist is named Shinra, and we are introduced to a train station when suddenly a person spontaneously combusts and becomes an infernal. As this happens, the fire brigade 8 comes into action and manages to contain the infernal using different techniques. But they overlook the fact that one of their members is still in danger, but Shinra realizes this and, setting his feet on fire, uses them as propellants to save this member, who is a nun with whom our protagonist will fall in love. After this, he is incorporated into the number eight fire brigade, or as they call it, the eighth.

The goal of our protagonist is to be a hero, since he has something characteristic which is that he smiles in a peculiar way when he is nervous. This made many people consider him a demon, which during the anime or manga puts him in funny or dark situations or misunderstandings. This characteristic happened to him because of a trauma from his past when he was a child: an infernal burned both his mom and brother. This was also a reason why Shinra wanted to join the fire brigade.

As the anime or manga progresses, there are more and more unknowns about spontaneous combustion and how it is gradually discovered that there is a big secret behind it. So much so that it is discovered that even the organization that fights the fire is hiding something. In addition, a group appears that will be the main antagonist of the anime called the Evangelist.

The anime changes almost nothing from the manga, neither in design nor in plot. That's why, before reading the manga, I do a little research to know if I have to read it from the beginning in case they omit something or not. The plot is quite interesting, but it feels kind of slow at first. Also, one might think it will be an anime as usual: a protagonist who wants to be a hero and whose past is tragic. But as it progresses, it becomes clear that this is not the case. In addition, we are shown different characters that will be appearing and very epic battles, making them more worthwhile for the animation that the anime has.

I recommend Fire Force for the backstory it has, as that's what really hooks you. So much so that I read the manga, as I couldn't contain my desire to know what was going on. Also, the different power ups that each character has are interesting. There is one in particular that I didn't really like at first, but as you go along you see that he has a great power and it becomes quite absurd. This is something I liked, as there are some very absurd things that become quite funny. However, something that I didn't like very much and I think it's mostly because I'm not a fan, is that there is a character dedicated only to fan service. This character has the peculiarity of having some part of his body touched or being left with almost no clothes on, which seemed unnecessary to me. In general, if you manage to watch the anime or read the manga, I would like to know what you thought of it. I was really taken aback by the ending. I hope you liked this review and I'll see you in the next post. If you have any suggestions I will gladly receive them <3.

I very much enjoyed this anime! That smile from Shinra was really so awkward, and can easily be misunderstood. 😅
It’s an anime I would recommend watching! Story is nice!
I haven’t read the manga but glad it followed what was there.

Despite having read the manga completely, I'm still waiting for the third season and I don't know if it will be the last but in the final arc there are some really good battles. Those moments where his smile was misinterpreted made me laugh, plus he not only comes out in moments where nothing is happening but where Shinra really looks like a demon as people call him, and it gives a darker touch to the anime. If at some point you read the manga I hope you like it as much as I do, Thanks for your comment <3

Saludos!

I will keep it in my list. Cheers!

You know this anime is actually a prequel to another?
Soul Eater...
That's one that I'm slowly getting to in my list.

I didn't watch the anime in particular but read the manga....
It was beautiful 🔥

I read the manga as soon as I finished fire force, which I found entertaining but not enough to read it non-stop, but the drawing is brutal. Thanks for your comment <3

No problem 😌

Good review man! This anime was so good. I hope they will do more seasons in future.

I hope so too, I think if they release another one it would be the last one since they would finally enter the final arc. Thanks for your comment <3
