Plot
The anime begins shortly after the end of Dragon Ball Z's Majin Buu Saga, with Son Goku and his friends having a party at Bulma's house. All the members of the iconic "Z Warriors" team and their families become children out of nowhere due to a wish made by the new king of the Demonic Kingdom, King Gomah. This wish is granted thanks to the help of the Dragon Balls from planet Earth who, when quickly gathered, call Shen Long that way. As Goku and his friends learn what has happened, they look for a way to go to this demonic realm to retrieve Dende who has become a baby and was captured by Gomah and his right-hand man. That same day a ship appears in which Glorio, a resident of the demonic kingdom who has been sent to look for them and take them to defeat the current king and thus recover their original forms.

Before I start giving you my opinion, I want to make it clear how much of a Dragon Ball fan I am because, as I'm sure it has happened to many of you in this community, I have grown up watching the series and movies since I was a kid. As someone who considers Dragon Ball Z a masterpiece of anime, it is only natural that I show a more than unique passion or interest with this new animated series. As has happened before with Dragon Ball Super and several of its movies these past 20 years, the fame and success that Dragon Ball Daima has achieved since it began airing last year to this day is enormous. With a community that has spent decades of their lives watching, talking about and fantasizing about this work by master Akira, it is only natural that they have awaited this new product with so much desire and excitement. I know, I already said it once in comments and I can say it again now without a doubt: Dragon Ball Daima is practically a copy of Dragon Ball GT. That series that became famous in the 90s and that the franchise launched as a work only for fans and without the supposed collaboration of Akira recently went viral due to the similarity it has with Daima, which did have the collaboration of the master. That is, the plot of the protagonists becoming children and traveling through unknown worlds is something that GT practically already did, but with a different objective. Whatever it is, the first impressions one had when watching this was of disinterest since it is clear that the goal is to reach a younger and new audience. Well, it is a Shōnen after all, so it is normal to expect this from Daima. However, watching it on air from beginning to end convinced me, even more so by its last episodes, that although it is an original work aimed at a new and younger audience, it is still a product with many winks and elements that make it nostalgic and familiar to those of us who have watched Dragon Ball since we were kids.
Before mentioning the spectacular animation work it has, I want to talk first about what I dislike about this series. Starting by reminding you of what I said a while ago about its similarity to GT and being practically a well animated copy of it; the theme of the main characters turning into children and all that is something that I don't digest at all as it is a cheap excuse to sell the characters as if they were real children (despite still having the mental age of an older person). Goku, for example, while he is the spitting image and perfect example of the "idiot and super powerful protagonist", in this new story we see how they turn him into a much more idiotic and retarded kid than he already was. Then there's the whole demonic realm journey thing, which I'm not complaining about at all and I'll even admit that the way they develop the lore, the division and difference of their three worlds is interesting. What bothers me are the new secondary characters that are added during the series, that although they all have something that makes them original, most of them only serve as filler or serve as references to other characters of predecessor series.

Goku, por ejemplo, si bien es la viva imagen y el ejemplo perfecto del “protagonista idiota y super poderoso”, en esta nueva historia vemos cómo lo convierten en un niño mucho más idiota y retrasado de lo que ya era. Luego está el tema del viaje por el reino demoníaco, el cual no me quejo para nada y admito incluso que la forma en la que desarrollan el lore, la división y la diferencia de sus tres mundos es interesante. Lo que me molesta en sí son los personajes secundarios nuevos que añaden durante la serie, que si bien todos tienen algo que los hacen originales, la mayoría solo sirven para hacer relleno o servir como referencias de otro personajes de series predecesoras.

His humor is another detail that I don't like at all in this series, being something that at the beginning can be passable and funny at times, it ends up being something so childish and stupid that it doesn't make sense. Of course, there is one or two exceptions, all related to characters that are not the main character, of course. But well, that's my business. Although, I repeat, I can tell it's a humor aimed at a younger audience.
While it is noticeable that the series deviates a bit towards the adventure genre at the beginning, it does not cease to be at the end a "Shōnen" of fights and pure action as Dragon Ball knows how to do. With an animation that I'll say at the end how much I like it, we can find a variety of battles and epic moments so memorable that they are practically unforgettable. Some of these moments, even, will remain in posterity as they gave and continue to give much to talk about on the internet. And regarding the latter, it can be said that Daima achieved something that was personally expected from the beginning: breaking the Dragon Ball canon. Or well, that's what everyone says, mostly those who are fans of Dragon Ball Super and who watched Daima expecting it to be a prequel to it but in the end it doesn't seem to have the intention of ending up being counted as such. The way in which this series divides the fandom is worth analyzing, since only a great work can have such an impact as to be on everyone's lips. That is why, although it has its details that I don't like at all, we must admit that this series made history in the world of anime, something that the master Akira has always managed to do.

Su humor es otro detalle que no me gusta para nada de esta serie, siendo algo que al principio puede llegar a ser pasable y gracioso a veces, termina siendo algo tan infantil y estúpido que no tiene sentido. Ojo, hay una que otra excepción, todo relacionado a personajes que no son el protagonista, por supuesto. Pero bueno, ya eso es cosa mía. Aunque, repito, se nota que es un humor dirigido a un público más joven.
Si bien es notable que la serie se desvía un poco hacia el género de la aventura al principio, no deja de ser al final un “Shōnen” de peleas y acción pura como Dragon Ball sabe hacer. Con una animación que ya diré al final lo mucho que me gusta, podemos encontrar una gran variedad de batallas y momentos épicos tan memorables que son prácticamente inolvidables. Algunos de estos momentos, inclusive, quedarán en la posteridad ya que dieron y siguen dando mucho de qué hablar en internet. In this case, with the animation of Dragon Ball Daima you can witness something that differs greatly from what has already been seen almost ten years ago in Dragon Ball Super. Super being an example of poor quality or poor production with the broadcast of its first episodes; we have the first and acclaimed episode of Daima with a "flashback" of some events of Dragon Ball Z summarized in a couple of minutes and with an animation so impressive that it is difficult not to jump from the emotion and nostalgia it generates (in short, we need a DBZ Remake with this level of animation, please). Already with this introduction, I knew from the beginning that what this new series would offer would be the "Peak" of western animation. With such wonderful, fresh and colorful flow, character design and style, it's hard not to be enraptured with each and every episode.
While the design of the main characters as children is something to dislike for any fan of yesteryear like myself, upon seeing them in action all doubt and dislike vanishes with a pure demonstration of fluidity, visual effects and blending of 2D with 3D in a pure and unique style. The choreographies, the action sequences, the iconic transformations, and the massive demonstration of power is one of those things that make this anime a perfect audiovisual spectacle for any fan of Dragon Ball-style action. It is not surprising that the only moments in which this series has become so popular during its broadcast were in the episodes where the battles are the protagonists from beginning to end. Although many are probably not interested in the theme of the Demonic Kingdom and all that "Lore" added in between, there is no denying that in terms of world design, landscapes and use of 3D for this is an excellence. We must also talk about the sound effects, which do not change being the typical sounds that anyone can hear and lead them to easily identify with Dragon Ball. The soundtrack is something original and very pleasant to listen to, especially in battle scenes. In short, this is an original series made for a new generation interested in Dragon Ball as well as for the nostalgic and fans of this great franchise.
Personally, I give it a rating of 8.5/10 for the adventure, fantasy and action genre.

Algo que sí digo que hizo a Toei Animation uno de los estudios más grandiosos de toda la historia es lo que ha logrado en esta última década. En este caso, con la animación de Dragon Ball Daima se puede presenciar algo que difiere muchísimo de lo que ya se ha visto hace casi diez años en Dragon Ball Super. Siendo Super un ejemplo de mala calidad o poca producción con la emisión de sus primeros episodios; tenemos el primer y aclamado episodio de Daima con un “flashback” de algunos sucesos de Dragon Ball Z resumidos en un par de minutos y con una animación tan impresionante que es difícil no saltar de la emoción y la nostalgia que genera (en definitiva, necesitamos un Remake de DBZ con este nivel de animación, por favor). Ya con esta introducción, supe desde el principio que lo que esta nueva serie ofrecería sería el “Peak” de la animación occidental. No es de extrañar que en los únicos momentos en los que esta serie ha llegado a popularizarse tanto durante su emisión fueron en los episodios en donde las batallas son protagonistas de principio a fin. Aunque a muchos no les interese seguramente el tema del Reino Demoníaco y todo ese “Lore” agregado entre medio, no hay que negar que en cuanto a diseño de mundos, paisajes y uso del 3D para esto es una excelencia. También hay que hablar de los efectos de sonido, los cuales no cambian siendo los típicos sonidos que cualquier puede escuchar y llevarlos a identificar fácilmente con Dragon Ball. La banda sonora es algo original y muy agradable de escuchar, más que nada en escenas de batallas. En fin, esta es una serie original hecha tanto para una nueva generación interesada en Dragon Ball como para los nostálgicos y fanáticos de esta grandiosa franquicia.
Personalmente, le doy una calificación de 8.5/10 en lo que respecta al género de aventura, fantasía y acción.
