Hello anime fans. Tonight I will talk to you about a typical romantic comedy from the anime world, but with one or two details in its story and characters that make it a bit different from most. Plot
The story opens with a girl dressed as a maid walking to a suburban house where young Hitoyoshi Yokoya lives. She offers her services to work for him. But, not knowing her at all, he hesitates at first, but then realizes that he lives alone and that his house does need someone to clean and cook. So he accepts her offer, although right after he realizes that she knows nothing about cleaning and cooking, something that will cost him a lot if he plans to work as a maid. To this, our protagonist asks her what she does know how to do, to which the girl shows him some blades she has hidden and throws them in front of a tree with great skill and speed. She confesses to him that she was an assassin until recently, but upon the death of her former master, she was sent as a recommendation from a friend of Hitoyoshi's relative. He is instantly surprised, but then accepts when he sees that she is not dangerous and that she really wants to serve and be useful to him.

I don't usually talk about anime that I didn't like that much. In the past year I've seen dozens of anime in the 'RomCom' (romantic comedy) genre on air that were so generic and uninteresting that they honestly weren't worth reviewing each one. I've passed up anime that have become popular even at the time for only offering something so shallow and unoriginal to my taste. It's like with the case of fantasy anime which, as I've mentioned to you before, is another genre so commonly exploited in this industry that you can find dozens of generic anime of this style. Honestly, I'm not sure if in the case of Kimi wa Meido-sama there is anything interesting to talk about and especially if it is recommendable, personally. While the plot does offer something different or interesting at first, I'll warn you right off the bat that what it has to offer is no more than what any other anime in this genre possesses as well. But, if you like a quiet Slice of Life with the occasional plot twist and romance intertwined with clichés, you might come to like this anime.

El año pasado he visto en emisión decenas de animes del género ‘RomCom’ (comedia romántica) tan genéricos y poco interesantes que sinceramente no valían la pena hacerles reseña a cada una. He dejado pasar animes que se han vuelto populares incluso en su momento por solo ofrecer algo tan superficial y poco original para mi gusto. Es como con el caso de los animes de fantasía que, como ya les he mencionado antes, es otro género tan comúnmente explotado en esta industria que se puede encontrar decenas de animes genéricos de este estilo. Sinceramente, no estoy seguro si en el caso de Kimi wa Meido-sama haya algo interesante del cual se pueda hablar y sobre todo si es recomendable, en lo personal. Si bien la trama ofrece algo diferente o interesante al principio, de una te voy advirtiendo de que lo que tiene para ofrecer no es más de lo que cualquier otro anime de este género posee también. Pero, si te gustan los Slice of Life tranquilos con uno que otro giro de trama y romance entrelazado con clichés, puede que te llegue a gustar este anime.

As you may have already noticed by reading the plot, this anime offers us an interesting story regarding a former professional assassin who attends the house of a young man named Hitoyoshi Yokoya to be his maid. Surely more than one may be interested in both the story of how a girl became such a dangerous assassin and how she has ended up in a not-so-fashionable maid's dress and in search of work. The theme of mystery surrounding this character may be one of the first things that manages to make you stay to watch it from beginning to end, as does seeing a person with such a dark past try to live a "normal" life with a young high school student. The latter may be the crux of the whole story they try to tell us from the beginning: how can a young woman who has lived almost her entire life as a murderer become a normal person. This is where our young protagonist comes into action, although in the end it's not like he does much, being the typical generic protagonist.
This is what we see throughout the anime; a girl dressed as a maid with experience annihilating people professionally trying to learn how to do everyday things like cleaning, cooking, shopping, etc. All this while our protagonist helps her learn more about the "normal" world he lives in and makes her experience emotions and moments she has never felt before. During the 12 chapters that usually last these anime, we gradually learn the story of each character, while we are introduced to secondary characters that, as always, come to influence in one way or another to the relationship that Hitoyoshi is forging with his maid (Yuki). While at first it may seem as if it has something to offer other than comedy, romance, and recounts of daily life, the truth is that the dramatic or mysterious tinge that revolves around our protagonist does not go beyond a few moments of suspense. However, it all begins and ends with a "cute love story" between a young murderess and her young master.

Seguramente a más de uno le puede interesar tanto la historia de cómo una chica se convirtió en una asesina tan peligrosa y cómo ha terminado con un vestido de sirvienta no tan moderno y en busca de trabajo. El tema del misterio que rodea a este personaje puede que sea de las primeras cosas que consigue hacer que te quedes a verla de principio a fin, al igual que lo hace ver a una persona con tal pasado tan oscuro intentar vivir una vida “normal” con un joven estudiante de secundaria. Esto último puede que sea el punto central de toda la historia que nos intentan contar desde el principio: cómo puede una joven que ha vivido casi toda su vida como una asesina convertirse en una persona normal. Es aquí donde nuestro joven protagonista entra en acción, aunque al final no es que haga gran cosa, al ser el típico protagonista genérico.
Esto es lo que vemos durante todo el anime; una chica vestida de sirvienta y con experiencia aniquilando a gente de forma profesional intentando aprender a hacer cosas de la vida cotidiana como la limpieza, la cocina, las compras, etc. Todo esto mientras nuestro protagonista la ayuda a conocer más del mundo “normal” en el que él vive y la hace experimentar emociones y momentos que nunca antes ha sentido. Durante los 12 capítulos que comúnmente duran estos animes, conocemos poco a poco la historia de cada personaje, a su vez que nos introducen a personajes secundarios que, como siempre, llegan a influir de alguna u otra manera a la relación que van forjando Hitoyoshi con su sirvienta (Yuki). Si bien al principio puede causar la impresión de que tenga algo más para ofrecer que no sea comedia, romance y recuentos de la vida diaria; la verdad es que el tinte dramático o misterioso que gira en torno a nuestra protagonista no va más allá de algunos momentos de suspenso. Sin embargo, todo inicia y termina con una “tierna historia de amor” entre una joven asesina y su joven amo.

No wonder that, because of this, this work is not free from the popular "fanservice" that many people love. Sometimes introducing the episodes in this way, this habit is present even with this kind of stories that try to be different. But hey, while it does have fanservice, it's not overused in an exaggerated way like certain ironically popular anime of this genre do. While it doesn't have much to offer on this side, perhaps it makes up for it in the way its characters are developed. Although, in this case, the development we see is mainly on the part of the protagonists who, as they begin to live together and get to know each other little by little, change their minds about certain things and at the same time see the moments they spend together as something valuable or magnificent.
Let's remember that what we will see is a young ex-professional assassin becoming a servant and an ordinary girl. This is why we won't find much action or drama as far as the murder theme is concerned, if you've thought about that. So on that side you will leave disappointed with this anime (it is not like Spy x Family which, personally, I highly recommend it for being a masterpiece that perfectly mixes action, fiction, romance and comedy in a perfect way like no other work does). On the protagonist's side we don't see much either, just the odd personal problem with his father, nothing interesting beyond the obvious in this very generic character. In general, the anime offers a quiet story, with not very normal characters trying to live a normal life while telling us a story of young love with indirect confessions, misunderstandings and all these kinds of clichés common in romantic comedies. With characters that you will surely identify with -or maybe not- and moments that are as exciting as they are fun to watch.

En cuanto al humor que tiene este anime es una mezcla de malentendidos con chistes de doble sentido y momentos incómodos. En fin, un humor que normalmente vemos en este tipo de animes de comedia romántica juvenil (Shōnen) que hay en la actualidad. No me extraña que, debido a esto, esta obra no se libre del popular “fanservice” que a mucha gente le encanta. Introduciendo a veces los episodios de esta forma, esta costumbre se hace presente aún con este tipo de historias que intentan ser diferentes. Pero bueno, si bien tiene fanservice, no es utilizado de manera exagerada como hacen ciertos animes de este género irónicamente populares. Si bien por este lado no tiene mucho que ofrecer, tal vez lo compense la forma de desarrollar a sus personajes. Aunque, en este caso, el desarrollo que vemos es principalmente por parte de los protagonistas quienes, al empezar a vivir juntos y conocerse poco a poco, van cambiando de parecer con respecto a ciertas cosas a la vez que ven los momentos que pasan juntos como algo valioso o magnífico.
Recordemos que lo que veremos es a una joven ex-asesina profesional convertirse en una sirvienta y una chica común y corriente. Es por esto que no encontraremos mucha acción o drama en cuanto al tema de asesinatos se trata, si es que has pensado en eso. Así que por ese lado te irás decepcionado con este anime (no es como Spy x Family que, personalmente, la recomiendo bastante por ser una obra maestra que mezcla de manera perfecta la acción, la ficción, el romance y la comedia de una forma perfecta como ninguna otra obra hace). Por el lado del protagonista no vemos mucho tampoco, solo uno que otro problema personal con su padre, nada interesante más allá de lo evidente en este personaje tan genérico. En regla general, el anime cumple con ofrecer una historia tranquila, con personajes no muy normales que digamos intentando vivir una vida normal a la vez que nos cuentan una historia de amor juvenil con confesiones indirectas, malentendidos y todo este tipo de clichés comunes en las comedias románticas. Con personajes que seguramente te sentirás identificado -o quizá no- y momentos tan emocionantes como a la vez divertidas de ver.

Last but not least, let's talk about the technical side of this anime. It was aired at the same time as a fantasy anime that I have already talked about recently. Both were animated by the same studio and, personally speaking, I have no complaints about it. While it is not as high quality as popular anime of this genre made by industry giants like A-1 Pictures (Makeine), this does not detract from the fact that it has an acceptable and enjoyable animation and production quality. As for character design, it's not bad, as it is with the drawing style, the use of light and shadow, the mixed and mostly bright color palette and the fluidity in terms of visual effects, movements and expressions. As for the latter, this anime has at most two or three moments that, visually, is wonderful. The same can be said of the soundtrack which, unlike the common sound effects it has, offers an excellent ambiance and generates the right emotions for each scene. It can even be said that in terms of Opening and Ending, they are among the most "creative" at the audiovisual level. In short, this is an anime that is perfect for those who are looking for a quiet Slice of Life with former assassins dressed as maids trying to live a normal life.
Personally, I give it a 7/10 rating as far as the romantic comedy genre is concerned.

Este fue emitido al mismo tiempo en el que se emitió también un anime de fantasía del cual ya he hablado hace poco. Ambos fueron animados por el mismo estudio y, personalmente hablando, no tengo ninguna queja al respecto. Si bien no tiene un nivel de calidad tan alto como animes populares de este género hechos por gigantes de la industria como A-1 Pictures (Makeine), esto no quita que tenga una calidad de animación y producción aceptables y disfrutables. En cuanto a diseño de personajes, no está mal, al igual que es con el estilo de dibujo, el uso de luces y sombras, la paleta de colores mixtos y mayormente brillantes y la fluides en cuanto a efectos visuales, movimientos y expresiones. En cuanto a esto último, este anime tiene un máximo de dos o tres momentos que, visualmente, es maravilloso. Lo mismo se puede decir de la banda sonora que, a diferencia de los efectos de sonido comunes que tiene, ofrece una excelente ambientación y genera las emociones adecuadas para cada escena. Incluso, se puede decir que en cuanto a Opening y Ending, son de lo más “creativos” a nivel audiovisual. En resumen, este es un anime que es perfecto para los que buscan Slice of Life tranquilos con ex-asesinos vestidos de sirvientas intentando vivir una vida normal.
Personalmente, le doy una calificación de 7/10 en lo que respecta al género de la comedia romántica.

When I read about this part, my interest immediately perked up. I mean it's a romcom and it isn't usual that it gets mixed up with thess themes, however, I hesitated as I read further your review. Ok, the cliches are tolerable because even though if the concepts were pretty used the execution may be entertaining, but when I read that it has a fanservice, that's where it kinda turned me off. I've seen a fair share of anime series with lots of fanservice, and I often cringes and ends up leaving them—but anyway, I'll try giving it a shot since this is just 12 eps long. It looks interesting the plot, it may be another Romcom but with the theme of the professional Maid killer gives that touch that at least attracts you to see a chapter hahaha, this kind of stories of someone trying to get used to the “daily life” always tend to have entertaining moments, its animation is fine, as you say is not a work of visual art but hey it looks nice indeed. I think beyond Yuki becoming a servant, I wonder how the main character, a high school boy, is supposed to live alone and have a maid to support haha.
