This weekend just ended Dragon Ball Daima, a series that brought us exciting moments, memorable characters and also left us with some questions that are still unanswered.
Este fin se semana acaba de terminar Dragon Ball Daima, una serie que nos trajo momentos emocionantes, personajes memorables y también nos dejó con algunas preguntas que aún están pendientes por responder.
Technically speaking, Dragon Ball Daima was an example that Toei Animation (the animation studio responsible for the entire Dragon Ball franchise) can do things right when they put their minds to it.
Técnicamente hablando, Dragon Ball Daima fue una ejemplo de que Toei Animation (el estudio de animación responsable de toda la franquicia de Dragon Ball) puede hacer las cosas bien cuando se lo proponen.
The series has a wonderful animation during all 20 episodes, or at least I don't remember a single mistake worth mentioning or criticizing. For me, in terms of animation, set design and character design, they did excellent and I give it a 10/10.
La serie cuenta con una animación maravillosa durante todos los 20 episodios, o al menos yo no recuerdo ni un solo error que valga la pena mencionar o criticar. Para mí, en términos de animación, diseño de escenografías y de personajes, lo hicieron excelente y le doy un 10/10.
As for the soundtrack, both the opening and the ending are a well-deserved and beautiful tribute from the creators of the series to Akira Toriyama, creator and original mangaka of Dragon Ball, who passed away a year ago, on March 1, 2024.
En cuanto a la banda sonora, tanto el opening como el ending son un merecido y hermoso homenaje de parte de los creadores de la serie hacia Akira Toriyama, creador y mangaka original de Dragon Ball, quien falleció hace un año, el 1 de marzo de 2024.

As a fun fact, the final episode of Dragon Ball Daima was released one day before the first anniversary of Toriyama's death.

As you may already know, in this series we are introduced to Demon King Gomah who asked the dragon spheres to make Goku and company become children again in order to weaken them, causing them to venture to the Demon Realm in search of the dragon spheres there to reverse that wish.
Como ya deben saber, en esta serie nos presentan al Rey Demonio Gomah quien pidió a las esferas del dragón que Goku y compañía se volvieran niños nuevamente con el fin de debilitarlos, haciendo que estos se aventuren al Reino demoníaco en busca de las esferas del dragon de allí para revertir ese deseo.
We meet several new characters, such as the aforementioned Demon King Gomah, who is in the image above and we also meet Degesu, Arinsu, Glorio, Panzy, among many others.
Conocemos varios personajes nuevos, como el ya mencionado Rey Demonio Gomah, quien está en la imagen de arriba y también conocemos a Degesu, Arinsu, Glorio, Panzy, entre muchos otros.

The journey through the Demon Realm is short, with only 20 episodes, but it is loaded with lots of adventure and very exciting fights, such as those of Goku and Vegeta against the Tamagamis, where it was finally revealed that Vegeta can achieve the SSJ 3 transformation.
El viaje por el Reino demoníaco es corto, con solo 20 episodios, pero está cargado de mucha aventura y peleas muy emocionantes, como las de Goku y Vegeta contra los Tamagamis, en donde se reveló finalmente que Vegeta puede alcanzar la transformación del SSJ 3.
Or like the final battle against Demon King Gomah, where we see Vegeta again in SSJ 3 as an adult, and Goku's SSJ 4 transformation was made official.
O como la batalla final contra el Rey Demonio Gomah, donde vemos a Vegeta nuevamente en SSJ 3 ya siendo adulto, y se hizo oficial la transformación del SSJ 4 de Goku.
First he transforms while still a child, without becoming an adult when he transforms, and then when Glorio's wish is fulfilled and he becomes an adult again, he transforms again and we see a design very similar to the one seen in Dragon Ball GT with slight differences. Like the color of Goku's hair and the size of his hands, which are a bit bigger.
Primero se transforma siendo todavía un niño, sin volverse adulto al transformarse, y luego al cumplirse el deseo de Glorio y volver a a ser adulto, se transforma nuevamente y vemos un diseño muy parecido al que se vio en Dragon Ball GT con ligeras diferencias. To be honest, I didn't have much faith in the Daima project at first. I did feel some excitement, I can't deny it, but I didn't expect it to be a good series or that it would add something interesting to the lore of the franchise. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I watched it because, as I said before, it has excellent animation and a good soundtrack.
Siendo honesto, al principio no le tenía mucha fe al proyecto de Daima. Sí sentía algo de emoción, no lo puedo negar, pero no esperaba que fuera una buena serie o que aportara algo interesante al lore de la franquicia. Sin embargo, me llevé una grata sorpresa al verla porque, como dije anteriormente, tiene una excelente animación y una buena banda sonora.
In addition, the story of the Demon Kingdom and the origin of different characters such as Kaio Shin, whose real name is Nahare, Piccolo, Dende and even Mister Popo was a great addition to the lore of the franchise, as they complement very well what we already knew about the franchise and some secrets that had not been revealed all this time were revealed.

The SSJ 3 transformation of Vegeta is something that has been a long, long time coming, ever since it was revealed that Goku could achieve it in the Majin Buu saga, and I actually found it a plot inconsistency, as it was a bit odd that Vegeta hadn't reached SSJ 3 in Dragon Ball Super but did reach SSJ God with training.
La transformación en SSJ 3 de Vegeta es algo que se ha estado esperando desde hace muchísimo tiempo, desde que se reveló que Goku podía alcanzarla en la saga de Majin Buu, y la verdad me parecía una inconsistencia en la trama, ya que era un poco extraño que Vegeta no hubiera alcanzado el SSJ 3 en Dragon Ball Super pero sí haya alcanzado el SSJ Dios con entrenamiento.
And something totally unexpected but that I deeply appreciate is that they have finally made Goku's SSJ 4 official. It's my favorite transformation and I was quite sad that it wasn't official since, as you may know, Dragon Ball GT is not part of the official canon of the franchise since it wasn't created by Akira Toriyama.
Y algo totalmente inesperado pero que agradezco profundamente es que hayan hecho oficial, finalmente, al SSJ 4 de Goku. Es mi transformación favorita y me daba bastante pena que no fuera oficial ya que, como sabrán, Dragon Ball GT no forma parte del canon oficial de la franquicia al no ser creación de Akira Toriyama.
Now, the questions left in my mind as of now are: How will they do to introduce Vegeta SSJ 3 and Goku SSJ 4 to the main plot of Dragon Ball Super? Or how will they go about justifying not using them all this time? I mean, these are transformations that could have been helpful in the Power Tournament, for example.
Ahora, las preguntas que quedan en mi mente a partir de ahora son: ¿Cómo harán para introducir el SSJ 3 de Vegeta y el SSJ 4 de Goku a la trama principal de Dragon Ball Super? O ¿Cómo harán para justificar que no se hayan utilizado durante todo este tiempo? Quiero decir, son transformaciones que podían ser de ayuda en el Torneo del Poder, por ejemplo.
And to finish, I know I've already said several times that this series belongs to the official canon of the franchise and makes such transformations official, but the truth is that I'm not very clear. I say yes because it is an official creation of Akira Toriyama, which in theory should make it official, right? But it is inevitable to have certain doubts due to the questions I mentioned above.
Y para finalizar, sé que ya he dicho varias veces que esta serie pertenece al canon oficial de la franquicia y hace oficial dichas transformaciones, pero la verdad es que no tengo muy claro. Yo digo que sí porque es creación oficial de Akira Toriyama, lo que en teoría debe hacerla oficial, ¿No? Pero es inevitable tener ciertas dudas debido a las preguntas que mencioné anteriormente.
Unfortunately the great Akira Toriyama is no longer with us, he passed away a year ago, so we can't ask him directly or wait for him to reveal it himself in an interview. However we do have Toyotaro, the heir to his legacy, in charge of continuing to draw and create new adventures for Goku and his friends.
Lamentablemente el gran Akira Toriyama ya no está con nosotros, hace un año que falleció, por lo que no podemos preguntarle directamente o esperar que lo revele él mismo en alguna entrevista. Sin embargo contamos con Toyotaro, el heredero de su legado, encargado de seguir dibujando y creando nuevas aventuras para Goku y sus amigos.
I hope that very soon our questions will be answered and deep in my heart I wish to see Goku's SSJ 4 again, and maybe Vegeta's and other characters like Gohan, Trunks or Goten in future adventures, because if there is one thing I am sure of, it is that this is not the end of Dragon Ball.
Espero que muy pronto nuestras preguntas sean respondidas y en lo más profundo de mi corazón deseo volver a ver el SSJ 4 de Goku, y tal vez el de Vegeta y otros personajes como Gohan, Trunks o Goten en futuras aventuras, porque si de algo estoy seguro, es que este no es el fin de Dragon Ball.

I have a problem with Diama. If the ssj4 exists at this point then it descanoniza Super. If on the other hand Diama is in a parallel universe, like in the movies for example, then it's not Canon.
But that continuity problem aside, it had some very good final chapters.

Como tu dices, la animación es un 10/10. No hay ninguna queja con respecto a eso.
Yo disfruté Dragon Ball Daima, pero lamentablemente tiene varios errores. Lo del SSJ 3 de Vegeta y el SSJ 4 de Goku, provoca un gran problema de continuidad. Pero honestamente, creo que ya no les importa. Creo que la franquicia hace varios años le dejo de importar ciertas cosas.

Precisamente a eso me refiero con las preguntas que planteo en el post. ¿Cómo pretenden añadir el SSJ 3 de Vegeta y el SSJ 4 de Goku a Super? Cronológicamente hablando, ya han pasado 4 arcos completos después de lo ocurrido en Daima y no se han visto dichas transformaciones. ¿Harán como que nunca existieron? ¿Será que de pronto se les olvidó que las tenían? Toca esperar a ver cómo lo solucionan, pero por mi parte estoy feliz porque fin me dieron algo que llevaba años pidiendo jajaja.
Me alegra ver que te ha gustado mucho este anime. Si es cierto que lo que más se destaca es la animación por sobre su historia un tanto original y su enorme número de referencias y uno que otro personaje secundario de relleno fácilmente olvidable y sus transformaciones finales que solo hicieron que todo el fandom se matara entre ellos en internet durante semanas sobre si es canon o no Daima, etc. Pero bueno, a pesar de todos estos detalles, esta obra cumple con ofrecer algo diferente, fresco (aunque un tanto copiado de GT) y muy típico del gran maestro Akira Toriyama.

La verdad, la historia me pareció bastante buena, aunque sí parece reciclaje de GT. El diseño de los nuevos personajes me pareció excelente y el rediseño del SSJ 4 me gustó muchísimo.
De si es canon o no, tocará esperar a que salga alguna información oficial que nos de la respuesta. Mientras tanto, disfrutemos de todo el fan service que nos dejó Toriyama antes de fallecer.

I haven't seen Daima but I have seen Dragon Ball Super
Watch Daima when you can. It's chronologically situated after Z and before Super.

In my opinion, DBDaima is worst DB series. I can only praise it for its nice animation, some of the jokes, and some cool characters. Other than that, it's a huge amount of wasted potential.
Well, to each his own. I liked the series. I do consider that more could have been done, and that the plot could have been better, but I am quite satisfied with what I saw.
Well, Im not. For me its completly failure.
We have to wait and see what they're gonna do with the series' continuity. If they do something good with what we saw in Daima, it would be a good thing.
