Psycho-Pass: The Movie (2015)

in The Anime Realm4 hours ago

AI-governed techno-dystopia spreads democracy "happiness" from Japan to South-East Asia by helping regional tyrant to genocide local population, lying, cheating, betrayal, assassination, mass-murder and even secretly replacing leader of the nation with android, as any means justify expansion of de-humanising dominance of machine over people, depriving people of free will.

The movie is a continuation of propaganda series, with same traits like complete acceptance of "New World Order" by protagonist (as well as almost everyone else), and numerous hints about how you (the viewer) might be enslaved in the future.

Here is a short dialogue (15:05):

– You're finally getting married! Congratulations!
– Thanks. We've got matched-up by the Sibyl System. ... I have to admit, it did a better job at finding me a partner than I ever have. ... It hasn't all been smooth but ups and downs in love - that's just normal. I mean, big picture -- when Sibyl says it's found a perfect man for you, it's like, who am I to argue, right? ... Sibyl not only knows the path to true happiness for every single person in Japan, she sees that path clearer than they could ever hoped to see it themselves. ... One day Sibyl might actually save everyone in the whole world.

And another (1:39:20):

– (To Sibyl System:) You intervened in a country's domestic affairs. And worse, you conspired with a traitor to assassinate their leader. That's clearly an international crime!
– Strictly speaking, there is no such thing as "domestic affairs" in this country any more. ... As of two years ago, [the country] ceased to be recognised as a federal nation. ... You claim that our endeavour here is a crime. However, a crime is a deviation from the law.
– The law isn't just some guiding principle. It can't be sustained without full support and consent of the people. You never even tried to get the approval of the citizens, when you swooped in and started governing this place. All you did was con a dictator into doing your bidding.
– ... All that we did here, was choose the most effective solution.
– Chairman Hang, step down! Hold a free and fair election to let the people choose a new leader, and whether or not to use the Sibyl System. That decision should be theirs and theirs alone.
– You honestly believe these people would reject us? That they would ever abandon the security of this utopian city, after actually grasping it in their hands?
– The balancing of freedom and security is something that they have to determine for themselves. So that they can embrace the law as a positive force to uphold, rather just a set of rules to be obeyed.
– You insist on going through the motions of this charade even though the outcome of the public vote would be entirely obvious.
– ... Having a voice in shaping the government that represents you -- people have fought and died to achieve those rights.

(Then Sibyl system goes ahead with political theatre of staged election with pre-determined outcome to legitimise techno-tyranny, as protagonist insisted.)

And another (1:46:00), after victory of AI-controlled "government":

– So what is all that mean?
– It means we might not need our guns anymore.

I mean, filthiness of this cheap "philosophy" and propaganda garbage is over the top and its realism and accuracy makes it even more disgusting...

Apart from propaganda, the show is packed with nice visuals, action, violence, and incompetent hand-to-hand combat. It is entertaining enough to watch.
