is an Ongoing Japanese Manga about The Warring States of China authored by Yasuhisa Yara. The story revolves around Shin (a war orphan and a slave at the start of the story) and his journey to achieve his dream to become a Great General of the heavens and El Sei (the 31st King of Qin), whose dream is to Unite all of China and become its First King. I started reading Kingdom way back in 2017. One of my workmate suggested it so I gave it a shot. I got really hooked to the story, art and war action. For me, the way the story progress is just right, not too slow and not too fast. And in every story, there is always a Top or Best Arc.
Actually there are two arcs of this manga that I really like:
1. ᙎᙓSTᙓᖇᑎ ᘔᕼᗩO IᑎᐯᗩSIOᑎ ᗩᖇᙅ
With 147 Chapter, this arc is the longest arc in Kingdom so far. I really tried my best for my Summary to be as short as possible. I even leave some important details so not all details is spoiled. This Western Zhao Invasion/ Gyou Campaogn, whatever you like to call it, is very important to both Qin and Zhao. If Zhao wins this, they will weaken the military forces of Qin and if the Qin wins, they will acquire a territory crucial to the Unification of China. Qin playing really risky this time, but if there is high risk, there is also high rewards.
In the middle of reading the Arc, I also try to think of a way on how they will resupply their food if they manage to capture Gyou. And I thought that they will do it through the yellow river, not from Qin but from Qi. Since I thought they are already in some sort of alliance to Qin which the other states did not know. And to my surprise I was right. I was so proud of myself for predicting that. LOL 😄
BRIEF SUMMARY:
The Western Zhao Invasion Arc runs from Chapter 496 to Chapter 642
Shou Hei Kun, Kai Oku, Mou Ki and Shou Bun Kun manage to come up with a plan to capture Gyou, a city of Zhao right under its Capital, Kantan. Thus ordering the army of 200,000 men to set out. This army was composed of Hi Shin Unit, Gaku Ka Unit, Gyoko Hou Unit, Heki Army, Kan Ki Army, Yo Tan Wa Army and Ou Sen Army, in which Ou Sen is the Supreme Commander. As part of the plan, the 200,000 men will march their way to Kaku You as their destination. Then they will switch their route at Kinan, where they store their food supplies.
Their first obstacle will be Retsubi, the gate to the Inner Zhao. The Yo Tan Wa Army and the Hi Shin Unit successfully captures Retsubi within half a day. During Ou Sen investigation of Retsubi, he has found a trick about Restsubi that will make Shou Hei Kun's plan on capturing Gyou crumbling to pieces. Because of this, Ou Sen decided to secretly set out during the night to see Gyou with his own eyes whether it is possible to conquer.
Ou Sen returns to Retsubi after visiting Gyou and orders that they will all leave Retsubi and go inside Zhao Territory. The Yo Tan Wa Army will separate to the main army to meet the Ryouyou Army and the Quanrong. Later on, the Heki Army will be sent by Ou Sen as Yo Tan Wa's reinforcement. The battle last for 10 days. in which the Yo Tan Wa and Heki Army will emerge victorious.
The Ou Sen Army together with Hi Shin Unit, Gaku Ka Unit and Gyoko Hou Unit will fight the Riboku Army at Shukai Plains. In this battle, the 3 young commanders of Qin, Shin, Mou Ten and Ou Hon will display a significant feat that neither Ou Sen and Ri Boku have expected. In this batlle, Shin will face Houken where he will be the victor. But in exchange of this win, Shin almost died but thanks to Kyoukai that he was saved. Battle at the Shukai Plains drags up to 15 days. Qin's food reached its limit by this day, but even with this problem they still manage to Win, resulting for Ri Boku to withdraw its army and rush to Gyou.
The Kan Ki Army was task to siege Gyou and to fight any Army that will come to Gyou's aid. At first they thought that it was them who has the easiest task, but they think again when enemies came in all directions. Gyou falls from the inside when the 9 cities worth of refugees forced they way out. The refugees came from the cities that the Ou Sen and Kan Ki Army attack along the route to Gyou. Even though they manage to take Gyou under Qin's flag, they still need to solve their food problems. And as all hopes seems lost, food carriages enters Gyou, not just for some days but for half a year. The surprising part is that this did not came form Qin but form the State of Qi. With this, the conclusion of this campaign to capture Gyou results with the Qin as the victor.
Chapter 639: Good News
2. ᙅOᗩᒪITIOᑎ IᑎᐯᗩSIOᑎ ᗩᖇᙅ
Maybe for many fan of Kingdom, this chapter is also their facorite because it gives way many chills and goose bumps as you read it. Especially the battle of Sai, on part when Sei addresses the people of Sai and make them wants to protect their Kingdom. He really captures the hearts of the people of Sai and I believe the hearts of readers as well. It is Legendary. Even I read it many times it still gives me goose bumps.
Shin really outdone himself to defend his part of the castle by giving his all. And also during that part when he battled Hou Ken and drive him out.
I also like the part when they are on the brink of being defeated and then BOOM!. Yo Tan Wa came! and with an Army of the mountain people. I have predicted this much but not on the manner of how they came. And the way Sei approached Yo Tan Wa, was a sight to see. He is really grateful.
BRIEF SUMMARY:
The Coalition Invasion Arc runs from Chapter 257 to Chapter 356
Ri Boku worked with Shun Shin Kun(Prime Minister of Chu) to form a Coalition Army that consist of the 6 other States (Zhao, Chu, Wei, Yan, Han and Qi). Their goal is to finally destroy Qin. But before the Qi Army have entered the Qin's Territory, the Qin manage to make a contact to the King of Qi, Ou Ken, through Sai Taku. With some discussions, Ou Ken withdrew his Army.
Qin gather all their Generals (Mou Bu, Duke Hyou, Chou Tou, Mou Gou, Ou Sen, Kan Ki and Tou) together with their corresponding Armies plus all of the small units that were scattered in Qin territories to defend at Kankoku Pass(Northern Passage leading to Kanyou, The Capital of Qin). And despite the Qin having lesser number than the Coalition Army, they still manage to make battle to be in their favor. Because of this, Ri Boku secrely sent some of his forces to go to Bu Pass(Southern Passage leading to Kanyou).
El Sei, the King of Qin, decided to go to the city of Sai, the last city before Kanyou, to make a stand against the Ri Boku Army. Together with Shin and Ka Ryo Ten they fight with all their strength the enemy for 7 days. As it seems that they were on the brinks of being defeated, Yo Tan Wa and the mountain tribes came to their rescue as reinforcement and drive off the Ri Boku Army.
Ri Boku returned to the camp of the Coalition Army and was ready to received whatever punishment they will implore. But before that he wants to turn their target to Sanyou, a region of Wei in the past that was now part of Qin after invading it. Ri Boku wants Sanyou to be on Wei again but Shun Shin Kun said their next target was already decided and that was the State of Qi, because of its earlier withdrawal. After capturing just 3 cities of Qi, the Coalition Army dissolves.
Qin emerge victorious in this battle with the Coalition. After some days, an award ceremony was held and in this ceremony Shin has been promoted to a 3000-Man Commander.
Chapter 330: Sei Addresses
As of this writing, Kingdom is currently running with 726 Chapters on a mission to totally invade and conquer Zhao.

It's one of those stories where the author wants to draw the full saga so expecting around more than a 1000+ chapters isn't that far fetched. I heard it's good but would prefer to just have it finished to binge the story through, just as how I can't get into One Piece without seeing it end.

Well you have a point, a complete manga is really awesome to read because it will not make you hang with the next chapter,especially on the climax of the Arcs. Still, I can't stop myself from reading these mangas. 😅
