Konnichiwa minna-san~ So today I'm going to share with you a manhwa that I've finished this morning. It's a new manhwa, and I know it's far from being completed. Usually, now I don't read works that aren't completed because I already encountered a lot of manhua, manhwa, and manga that were abandoned by their creator. I end up loving them, and when the creator left them, that as well made me heartbroken. Their plot was really good, and I can't really satisfy myself imagining a possible ending.
I know creators view their characters differently from how readers view them, and for me, they're the only ones who can give their characters the ending they wanted them to have. That's why, as much as possible, I somehow avoided unfinished or ongoing stuff, but now and then I really got lured with its plot, and this time its a josei romance manhwa. So join me as we sneak a peek at an odd romance between a kidnapper and a daughter of New Jersey's boss in Melt Bless You!
About the Manhwa
Melt Bless You is a josei manhwa written and illustrated by Jeong Wonsa. Its genres are crime, drama, mystery, and—of 'course, romance! It's a newly released manhwa, and it isn't licensed yet, so I'm reading the fan translations. Since it's still new, it only has 6 chapters translated as of now.
It started with a preparation for the 20th birthday celebration of the daughter of New Jersey's boss, Melt. Being the daughter of an influential person does come with pros and cons, and Melt experienced the cons on her 20th birthday. She was kidnapped by a hired killer named Bud—however, she is far from being vulnerable. It's not her who's stuck with him; rather, it's him stuck with her. And that's where his story begins—his happiness, his horror, and his love.
The intriguing plot really got me! I mean, it's not everyday you get to see a fl getting kidnapped by ml, then it turns out the fl is really the dangerous one! (Opps, did I spoil?). Well, I know it's far from its climax because, yeah, it's still in its sixth chapter and many things could happen. I really thought it would be another damsel in distress story, but thankfully it's not. Based on the recent chapters, the fl don't need protection; rather, it's the ml who needs it. He's really like a cute gerbil next to the lioness fl.
The characters of the story were pretty much unconventional for me. The ml is a morally gray person, but he has a soft spot because what kind of kidnapper gives food and his bed for the woman he'd kidnapped? It's pretty hilarious, but it's cute. The fl also is really far from being a damsel in distress. Being the daughter of a syndicate boss sure molded her to be an amoral person. She's really devoid of morals, and she's also self-centered. She only cares about her welfare, which really contrasts with ml's sympathetic nature.
As for its art style, it isn't that unique. It doesn't have a detailed set background; it's more like the creator focused more on the characters. The fl really reminds me of Marcille from Dungeon Meshi. They're also both feminine but not helpless—only that, the fl here is more extreme. I also like the sleep-deprived looking ml! (kyahhh, here comes my daddy fetish), but what really stands out in its art is how the father of fl was portrayed. He is portrayed in a human-dog appearance, which was really baffling. Is it just a metaphorical expression? Or is it really his true form? Well, it's still in its early chapters, so I can't conclude anything yet.
The color palette that the creator used was also interesting. It's really unlike the soft and pastel colors that I often saw whenever I read manhwa. For me, it's similar to a comic's color palette. Also, the charcoal-like shading was something that caught my eye because it's really noticeable. Unlike other art styles that I've seen, this one uses bold charcoal-like strokes for shading some parts, which isn't that common for me because most of the art styles I've seen used a darker shade of the skin's base color to emphasize the shaded areas. Nevertheless, it's fine and cool for me because it's kinda unique.
Overall, I really find this manhwa promising! The plot and art style really suit my preference, and I'm definitely looking forward to how the storyline will progress and also on how the characters will improve. For now, there aren't many villains—only the sloppy ones that die quickly. The fl is more like the threat, actually, and I wanted to know more about the mystery behind her ability. The romance between her and ml is not that noticeable, but it's definitely showing some prospects of improvement. So if you're interested in a crime romance with a tad or more mystery, then be with me as we wait on the further (translated!) chapters of Melt Bless You.
That's all for now, minna-san~ Have you already encountered this manhwa? Or was this your first time seeing it? Feel free to comment your opinions about it. Anyway, thanks for being with me 'til the end.

It's a shame when creators abandon their works, as you rightly say, they can break our hearts, so it makes sense to only see works that are finished. But you made an exception for this manhwa and I think rightly so since just by reading your review I can understand that it is quite funny and unconventional.
Thanks for sharing dear @ridgette.
It's really unconventional and fun to read, and I'm hoping it'll get finished someday! The storyline was really promising, and I'm excited to read another translated update about it!
You're welcome, @musicandreview. It's my pleasure!

Omg, it has a really interesting plot. I love that the FL is not the typical damsel in distress keneme, lol. But why there's only a few chapters, we need moreeee (눈‸눈). It will surely take a lot of time before we get more chapters so for bow I'll save this! UwU
The raw chapters are really far na, but the translated one isn't that much yet. It isn't licensed yet, so there's no official English translation for now, I'm still waiting for the fan translations... I tried reading the Spanish-translated version since it's more updated than the English ones (I somehow understood some parts... lol, but what matters is that I can see Bud and Melt!)—and yeah, the story gets more interesting. Hopefully there will be new updates for the English-translated version soon...
