With his sharp reflexes and sportman's physique, Yoigoshi managed to somehow adjust to Kabaddi. But when he finally enjoyed playing it, things suddenly went awry when Masaji got a serious injury. With their captain out of the picture, their team slowly drifted apart, until one day their club disbanded. Yoigoshi's frustrations built up so much that even his livestreaming won't cheer him up anymore.

Intending to distance himself from anything that would remind him of Kabaddi, he went on a vacation to another country—a country that he thought wouldn't remind him of any sports he once loved—and it's in the Philippines. However, just as he thought that he wouldn't get in tangled with any sports again, he unknowingly stumbled into one—and it's Arnis. It's quite similar to Kabaddi since it's also a full-contact sport, but this one has a weapon used, and it's a wooden stick. Like Kabaddi, touching an opponent will give you a point. Upon knowing that how it is played would just remind him of Kabaddi, he immediately turned down the challenge for a sparring, but he was then forced when a haughty man, Remy, challenged him.

Pissed off with Remy's haughtiness, he was determined to humiliate him. But it turns out, Remy wasn't all talk because, even though Yoigoshi has the height and reach advantage, Remy was extremely agile. He immediately landed a blow on Yoigoshi, and surprisingly, it's a strong one. Since they're using live sticks and not that padded ones, Yoigoshi really felt the pain, and that disoriented him for the rest of the game.

The matches ended without extending to the 3rd game. Utterly defeated, Yoigoshi refuses to admit his defeat, and instead he says that he can easily defeat Remy if he trains and studies Arnis for a whole week. Is this the start of his next sport's journey, or will he taste defeat and desolation again?

The moment I saw that this wild plot Wednesday will feature a traditional sport or game from my country, Arnis immediately came to mind. Arnis is our national sport, and aside from that, it's the only local sport that I'm really familiar with. I also know how sepak takraw/sipa is played, but I didn't really excel in it, so I tried joining our Arnis team at our university, and honestly, I enjoyed it. A lot of people often underestimate it because they thought it was just haphazardly striking a blow using a wooden stick, but it's much more than that. IMG_20241116_152250.jpg

This picture was taken by one of the co-arnis team member during our intramurals match last week. I'm the one in red gear!

It really requires discipline, and even though the blows need power and force, you also need to have control in it. I definitely enjoyed sparring, even though most of the time I'm the underdog during those times. I learned a lot of things from it—and yeah, the bruises I got from the intramurals' matches were definitely worth it because I somehow got a place! So yeah—that's all for now, and I hope you somehow enjoyed my fanfic plot. Ja ne minna-san~

Great job highlighting Arnis! Your experience adds a nice touch, and I'm excited to see what happens next for Yoigoshi!

Yay! Thanks, I'm really flattered that you find it interesting. It's just a fanfic plot, but it would be sure interesting to know on how he'll adjust to this kind of sport.

Thanks for stopping by @itsmemic!

I originally thought of using characters from Burning Kabaddi and make them play patintero... Hahahahah

Yoigoshi surely hates losing!!! 😂

Not really familiar with the rules for arnis, but way to go, imouto-chan!!! 💙💙💙

Yeah... the rules of Kabbadi is quite similar to patintero... But tubig-tubig was the first local game that came to my mind, however I'm not really confident if it is what I remember it to be.

And yeah! Yoigoshi really hates losing especially to the people that he felt na mas inferior niya, and this really pushes him to do things that he don't like (that he usually like later on ahahhaha).

Yep, I still have a long to go kay beginner pa man sad ko ani na sport. Hopefully I'll get better in it.
