Últimamente he visto que muchas personas han estado compartiendo sus openings favoritos, asi que decidi hacer algo un poco diferente. Todos conocemos cuales son los mejores openings, desde "Cruel Angel Tesis" de Evangelion, hasta "Gurenge" de Kimetsu No Yaiba, sin embargo, aquí les traigo 5 openings que a mi parecer, son muy buenos, y que además poca gente conoce. Mi intención es darles a conocer nuevos openings que se salgan un poco de lo que estamos acostumbrados a ver, ¡así que comencemos!
Lately I've seen that many people have been sharing their favorite openings, so I decided to do something a little different. We all know which are the best openings, from "Cruel Angel Tesis" from Evangelion, to "Gurenge" from Kimetsu No Yaiba, however, here I bring you 5 openings that in my opinion, are very good, and that also few people know. My intention is to introduce you to new openings that are a bit different from what we are used to see, so let's start!
Ousama Game - "Feed The Fire"
Empezamos fuerte con esta lista, con el tema "Feed the fire", de la banda japonesa de Hard-Rock "Coldrain". Ousama Game trata sobre un grupo de estudiantes que se ven atrapados en el macabro "juego del rey", donde irán recibiendo una serie de retos a cumplir, y quien no lo haga, morirá.
We start strong with this list, with the song "Feed The Fire" by the Japanese Hard-Rock band "Coldrain". Ousama Game is about a group of students who are trapped in the macabre "King's Game", where they will receive a series of challenges to fulfill, and whoever does not do it, will die.
Este es el ejemplo perfecto de como un pésimo (de verdad, pésimo) anime puede tener un gran opening. Desde el inicio se puede apreciar la intensidad en la banda sonora, y es normal, pues estamos ante un opening del estilo Rock-Hardcore, donde los momentos "calmados" siguen teniendo un tono altísimo. A nivel vocal no se queda atrás, sigue el alto ritmo que marca la instrumental, y los momentos donde la voz se pone un poco "aguda", inmediatamente hace contraste con otro tono de voz más grave. Por otro lado, la letra claramente está escrita desde la perspectiva del protagonista, quien ya había participado en el juego del rey con anterioridad, y habla precisamente sobre eso, es como un mensaje desde la experiencia del protagonista, hacia la ingenuidad de sus nuevos compañeros, quienes no saben lo que les espera. Las imágenes nos muestra a los personajes, y como van cayendo en la obscuridad, sin embargo, aquel que siempre termina alzando la mirada con firmeza, es precisamente el protagonista. Puede que más de uno piense que como tema de rock es algo genérico, pero como opening es más que sobresaliente, ya que cumple con el principal requisito de un buen opening: se ve y suena muy bien.
This is the perfect example of how a lousy (really, really lousy) anime can have a great opening. From the beginning you can appreciate the intensity in the soundtrack, and it is normal, because we are facing a Rock-Hardcore style opening, where the "calm" moments still have a very high tone. Vocal level is not left behind, it follows the high rhythm that marks the instrumental, and the moments where the voice gets a little "sharp", immediately contrasts with another tone of deeper voice. On the other hand, the lyrics are clearly written from the perspective of the protagonist, who had already participated in the king's game before, and speaks precisely about that, it is like a message from the experience of the protagonist, towards the naivety of his new companions, who do not know what awaits them. The images show us the characters, and how they fall into darkness, however, the one who always ends up looking up firmly, is precisely the protagonist. More than one may think that as a rock theme it is somewhat generic, but as an opening it is more than outstanding, since it fulfills the main requirement of a good opening: it looks and sounds great.
Juuni Taisen - "Rapture"
Continuamos con otro opening que, curiosamente, pertenece a un anime de la misma temporada que el anterior, y no está tan alejado en cuanto a calidad, por desgracia. Juuni Taisen, con su tema "Rapture" de Panorama Panama Town. En Juuni Taisen, un grupo de guerreros los cuales representan a los signos zodiacales chinos, deberán enfrentarse a muerte al mas puro estilo "Battle Royale", al ganador se le concederá cualquier deseo.
We continue with another opening that, curiously, belongs to an anime of the same season as the previous one, and it's not that far off in terms of quality, unfortunately. Juuni Taisen, with its theme "Rapture" by Panorama Panama Town. In Juuni Taisen, a group of warriors who represent the Chinese zodiacal signs, must fight to the death in the purest "Battle Royale" style, the winner will be granted any wish.
Este opening destaca sobre todo por ser pegajoso, y es que con solo escucharlo una vez, estoy seguro que se les quedará grabado en la mente la palabra "Raptcha", por la manera en que se pronuncia, haciendo énfasis en la letra R, lo cual, no es muy común de ver en los japoneses, además, la instrumental y el ritmo también hacen lo suyo. En cuanto a la letra, esta habla sobre "la luz del éxtasis que hay que alcanzar", haciendo referencia al premio que se llevará el ganador; también se menciona toda la muerte y destrucción que habrá en la batalla, e incluso, mirándolo en retrospectiva, pude notar que una parte hace spoiler, pues habla sobre cierta habilidad que tiene el protagonista. También quiero destacar el aspecto visual, que si bien, son solo imágenes, la verdad es que están muy bien hechas, y los efectos de movimiento quedan geniales. ¡Opening RRRRRRecomendado!.
This opening stands out above all for being catchy, and just by listening to it once, I'm sure that the word "Raptcha" will stick in your mind, because of the way it is pronounced, emphasizing the letter R, which is not very common to see in Japanese people, besides, the instrumental and rhythm also do their thing. As for the lyrics, they talk about "the light of ecstasy that must be reached ", referring to the prize that the winner will win; they also mention all the death and destruction that will take place in the battle, and even, looking back, I could notice that one part is a spoiler, since it talks about a certain ability that the protagonist has. I also want to highlight the visual aspect, that although they are only images, the truth is that they are very well done, and the movement effects are great. Opening RRRRRRecommended!
Mayoiga - Gensou drive
Si, este anime también es de la misma temporada que los anteriores, y si, la calidad es la misma. Ami Wajima interpreto este tema, Gensou drive, para Mayoiga, lamentablemente este es uno de los pocos, o incluso el único trabajo destacado de esta cantante. En Mayoiga, un grupo de personas suben a un autobús, el cual los llevará al "pueblo desaparecido", donde esperan alejarse de sus problemáticas vidas y empezar de nuevo.
Yes, this anime is also from the same season as the previous ones, and yes, the quality is the same. Ami Wajima performed this theme, Gensou drive, for Mayoiga, unfortunately this is one of the few, or even the only outstanding work of this singer. In Mayoiga, a group of people board a bus, which will take them to the "lost village", where they hope to get away from their troubled lives and start anew.
Anteriormente lamentaba el hecho de que este fuera el único trabajo destacable de Ami Wajima, y es que, si este opening esta en la lista, es gracias a ella, realmente ame su interpretación, de hecho, fue con esta misma que hizo su debut, aunque por algún motivo su carrera no pudo avanzar mucho mas. Durante el opening se pueden apreciar cambios de ritmo, me gusta mucho el contraste que Ami hace entre los momentos tranquilos y los intensos, esto se nota sobre todo al comparar el inicio con el final. La letra, por su parte, hace referencia a lo agobiante y desesperante que puede ser estar solo ante una situación difícil, no tener alguien en quien apoyarte, y encontrarte completamente perdido, pero que, sin embargo, alces la mirada, y aunque sea con una débil esperanza, salgas adelante. A nivel visual en su mayoría tenemos imágenes de los personajes, sin embargo, muchas transiciones y fondos están bien logrados, haciendo que, en general, el opening se vea bien a pesar de no contar con tantos momentos animados, y todo gracias al trabajo de edición.
Previously I regretted the fact that this was the only remarkable work of Ami Wajima, and if this opening is in the list, it is thanks to her, I really loved her interpretation, in fact, it was with this one that she made her debut, although for some reason her career could not advance much more. During the opening you can appreciate changes of rhythm, I really like the contrast that Ami makes between the calm moments and the intense ones, this is especially noticeable when comparing the beginning with the end. The lyrics, on the other hand, make reference to how overwhelming and desperate it can be to be alone in a difficult situation, not having someone to lean on, and finding yourself completely lost, but nevertheless, you look up, and even with a faint hope, you come out ahead. On a visual level we mostly have images of the characters, however, many transitions and backgrounds are well done, making that, in general, the opening looks good despite not having so many animated moments, and all thanks to the editing work.
Utau Shōjo Yu-No - Opening
De acuerdo, este si es un anime mas reciente, del 2019 para ser exactos. El opening de Utau Shōjo Yu-No interpretado por Yui Asaka, fue, para mi, uno de los mas destacados de su año, aunque para muchos paso inadvertido ya que no lo vi figurando en ninguna lista; curiosamente, el tema lleva el mismo nombre que su anime. Utau Shōjo Yu-No es una historia de viajes en el tiempo, en la cual, su protagonista tendrá que viajar entre diferentes líneas temporales para desentrañar un misterio que parece estar relacionado con su padre y una extraña chica elfo.
Okay, this is a more recent anime, from 2019 to be exact. The opening of Utau Shōjo Yu-No performed by Yui Asaka, was, for me, one of the most outstanding of its year, although for many it went unnoticed since I did not see it appearing in any list; curiously, the theme has the same name as its anime. Utau Shōjo Yu-No is a time travel story, in which the main character will have to travel between different timelines to unravel a mystery that seems to be related to his father and a strange elf girl.
Tengo que decir que no me gusta mucho la instrumental que se utiliza al inicio del opening, suena algo rara, sin embargo, todo cambia cuando comienza la letra, ya que me encantó la voz de Yui Asaka; la forma en como se va preparando el estribillo es genial, la utilización de la voz angelical, junto con los breves momentos de pausa, definitivamente fueron una idea acertada. Por otra parte, el opening no podría ser mas directo, nos habla sobre mundos pararelos, viajes en el tiempo, la ley de causalidad, y la misteriosa chica elfo. A nivel visual, recuerda un poco a Steins;Gate, de hecho, este último tomó inspiración en la visual novel de Utau Shōjo Yu-No, que es la obra original. No sé por qué, pero este opening me produce cierta nostalgia, me recuerda a esos momentos cuando veía anime en Youtube hasta las 5 de las mañana.
I have to say that I don't really like the instrumental used at the beginning of the opening, it sounds a bit weird, however, everything changes when the lyrics start, since I loved Yui Asaka's voice; the way the chorus is prepared is great, the use of the angelic voice, together with the brief moments of pause, were definitely the right idea. On the other hand, the opening couldn't be more direct, it talks about parallel worlds, time travel, the law of causality, and the mysterious elf girl. On a visual level, it reminds a bit of Steins;Gate, in fact, the latter took inspiration from the visual novel by Utau Shōjo Yu-No, which is the original work. I don't know why, but this opening makes me nostalgic, it reminds me of those moments when I used to watch anime on Youtube until 5 in the morning.
Basilisk - Kouga Ninpou Chou
Y para terminar, un anime más antiguo, lo cual se nota de inmediato al ver su opening, pero no por ello deja de ser bueno. La banda Onmyo-za interpreta el tema "Kouga ninpou chou" de Basilisk, una mezcla entre rock y algo de música instrumental clásica de Japón. En Basilisk, tenemos una historia al más puro estilo de Romeo y Julieta, donde ambos protagonistas se ven envueltos en medio de la interminable guerra de sus dos familias, las cuales, han seleccionado a sus 10 mejores guerreros para enfrentarse a muerte, ¿podrá acaso su amor superar los 400 años de odio interminable entre ambos clanes?.
And finally, an older anime, which is immediately noticeable when you see its opening, but it is still good. The band Onmyo-za plays the theme "Kouga ninpou chou" from Basilisk, a mix between rock and some classical Japanese instrumental music. In Basilisk, we have a story in the purest Romeo and Juliet style, where both protagonists are involved in the middle of the endless war of their two families, which have selected their 10 best warriors to face each other to death. Will their love be able to overcome the 400 years of endless hatred between both clans?
El opening inicia con el sonido de una flauta, tiene una melodía bastante agradable de escuchar, y que, además, hace alusión a la época en la que se desarrolla el anime; luego de eso, y durante la mayor parte del tiempo, los instrumentos que destacan son la guitarra y la batería, salvo en la parte final, donde nuevamente se puede escuchar la flauta. La cantante no se queda atrás, y quiero destacar sobre todo la manera en como utiliza su voz, subiendo y bajando el tono constantemente, diría que es como una montaña rusa, y la verdad, suena genial. La letra está llena de melancolía, con frases como "En una noche oscura... dos pequeñas almas son conducidas juntas hacia una trampa cruel", o "Aunque el destino traiga lágrimas, y el presente sea incierto ante mis ojos, mis parpados aun cerrados te recordaran". En cuanto a visuales no hay mucho que decir, simplemente se nos muestra a los personajes haciendo poses y, algunos, mostrando sus poderes. En definitiva, un gran opening, olvidado e injustamente irreconocido, así que tenía que cerrar esta lista dándole un digno puesto.
The opening starts with the sound of a flute, it has a quite pleasant melody to listen to, and it also alludes to the time in which the anime takes place; after that, and during most of the time, the instruments that stand out are the guitar and drums, except in the final part, where you can hear the flute again. The singer is not left behind, and I want to highlight above all the way she uses her voice, raising and lowering the pitch constantly, I would say it's like a roller coaster, and the truth, it sounds great. The lyrics are full of melancholy, with phrases like "In a dark night... two little souls are led together into a cruel trap ", or "Though fate brings tears, and the present is uncertain before my eyes, my still closed eyelids will remember you ". As for visuals there is not much to say, we are simply shown the characters posing and, some of them, showing their powers. In short, a great opening, forgotten and unjustly unrecognized, so I had to close this list giving it a worthy place.
Bueno amigos, hasta aquí el post de hoy, la verdad es que batallé muchísimo para poder colocar los gifs, pero creo que ha valido la pena.
