El día de hoy les contare como fue mi experiencia con mi primer anime, "School Days". ¿Vaya forma de empezar en este mundillo, no?.
Today I will tell you about my experience with my first anime, "School Days". What a way to start in this world, isn't it?
Un verano aburrido
A boring summer
Bueno, todo comenzó en el verano de 2014 (hace 7 años, maldita sea, el tiempo pasa demasiado rápido). En ese entonces estaba en primer año del liceo, y como suele ser costumbre para mi, incluso a día de hoy, estaba increíblemente aburrido, sin nada que hacer.
Well, it all started in the summer of 2014 (7 years ago, damn, time goes by too fast). I was a freshman in high school at the time, and as is customary for me, even to this day, I was incredibly bored, with nothing to do.
Dentro de ese aburrimiento, se me ocurrió ver nuevamente una de mis series favoritas de la infancia "Dragon Ball", mas específicamente, mi saga preferida, la de Majin Boo.
In the midst of that boredom, it occurred to me to watch again one of my favorite childhood series "Dragon Ball", more specifically, my favorite saga, that of Majin Boo.
No se si fue por el tiempo libre, o porque cada vez que veo esta saga me gusta mas, pero el punto es, que la termine en una semana. Aun así, seguía emocionado, y en mi afán por querer ver más, le di una segunda oportunidad a "Dragon Ball GT", la cual siempre he tenido en una lista negra.
I don't know if it was because of the free time, or because every time I watch this saga I like it more, but the point is, I finished it in a week. Even so, I was still excited, and in my eagerness to see more, I gave a second chance to "Dragon Ball GT", which I have always had in a black list.
Lo diré sin rodeos, no pude pasar del capitulo 10, así es, para mi GT ya es un caso perdido. Pero, aun así, seguía emocionado, fue entonces que me dispuse a encontrar una nueva serie.
I'll put it bluntly, I couldn't get past chapter 10, that's right, for my GT it's already a basket case. But, even so, I was still excited, that's when I set out to find a new series.
Aunque mis únicos acercamientos con el mundo del anime habían sido de niño, con lo típico: Dragon Ball, Naruto, Pokemon, Digimon, etc. Lo cierto es, que ya yo sabia que existían muchísimos mas, solo que no me había animado a verlos.
Although my only approach to the world of anime had been as a child, with the typical: Dragon Ball, Naruto, Pokemon, Digimon, etc.. The truth is, I already knew that there were many more, I just had not encouraged me to see them.
Entonces, como no sabia por donde iniciar, decidí buscar un Top random de "Los 10 mejores animes". Curiosamente, nada mas empezar el video, el que se encontraba en la decima posición atrajo toda mi atención, y decidí comenzar a verlo.
So, as I didn't know where to start, I decided to look for a random Top 10 best anime. Curiously, as soon as the video started, the one in the tenth position attracted all my attention, and I decided to start watching it.
School Days
School Days es un anime de romance colegial y drama, al principio con algo de comedia (aunque poco a poco se va dejando de lado, ya llegaremos a eso). Su protagonista, Makoto, se presenta como un joven algo tímido, aunque con cierto libido en su interior. Todo los dias va a la escuela en tren, donde coincide con una chica llamada "Kotonoha", y aunque ninguno se dirige la palabra, Makoto se enamora de ella por su belleza. En uno de esos días, Makoto le toma una foto a escondidas, y la coloca de fondo pantalla en su celular, pues según una leyenda, si logras tener a la persona que te gusta de fondo de pantalla durante un mes, sin que nadie lo note, esta persona se enamorara de ti. En un descuido, una compañera de su clase llamada "Sekai", se da cuenta de las intenciones de Makoto, y le propone ayudarlo a conquistar a Kotonoha. Esto marca el inicio del triangulo amoroso que se desarrolla a lo largo de la serie.
School Days is an anime of college romance and drama, at first with some comedy (though it gradually drops out, we'll get to that). Its protagonist, Makoto, is presented as a somewhat shy young man, although with a certain libido inside. Every day he goes to school by train, where he meets a girl named "Kotonoha", and although they don't speak to each other, Makoto falls in love with her because of her beauty. On one of those days, Makoto secretly takes a picture of her, and places it as wallpaper on his cell phone, because according to a legend, if you manage to have the person you like as wallpaper, for a month, and without anyone noticing it, this person will fall in love with you. In an oversight, a classmate of his named "Sekai", realizes Makoto's intentions, and proposes to help him to conquer Kotonoha. This marks the beginning of the love triangle that develops throughout the series.
School Days bien pudo ser una comedia romántica durante sus 12 capítulos, y aun así me habría encantado, pues fue precisamente eso lo que atrajo mi atención en un principio, al ser un genero inexplorado para mi. PERO, progresiva e inesperadamente, School Days se va transformando, comienza a dejar de lado la comedia para tener un tono mucho mas dramático y maduro. En retrospectiva, diría que deconstruye el genero "harem", poniendo sobre la mesa consecuencias reales al hecho de que el protagonista salga con varias chicas a la vez (cosa que por lo general, se le suele dar un enfoque mas cómico y complaciente para el espectador)
School Days could have been a romantic comedy during its 12 chapters, and I still would have loved it, because it was precisely that what attracted my attention at first, being an unexplored genre for me. BUT, progressively and unexpectedly, School Days is transforming, it begins to leave aside the comedy to have a much more dramatic and mature tone. In retrospect, I would say that it deconstructs the "harem" genre, putting on the table real consequences to the fact that the protagonist dates several girls at the same time (something that is usually given a more comic and complacent approach for the viewer)
Pero, sin duda alguna, lo que mas me impacto de este anime (al igual que cualquiera que lo haya visto), fue su final. Antes mencione que School Days pasaba de ser una comedia a un drama, pero ese no fue su único cambio, y es que, en su ultimo capitulo, la serie da uno de los giros mas impactantes en la historia del anime. Del drama, pasamos a un increíble festival de sangre y muerte, con decapitación incluida, recuerdo tener que repetir las escenas varias veces, pues no terminaba de asimilar lo que estaba sucediendo. Para muchos, un desenlace algo exagerado, pero no se puede negar que fue esto lo que permitió que School Days alcanzara su estatus de anime de culto. Personalmente, me parece un gran final, no se siente forzado, pues antes de que comience la carnicería ya sus personajes estaban en un estado mental bastante inestable. Y para colmo, ¡este fue mi primer anime!, el impacto fue todavía mayor, yo ni siquiera sabia lo que era una "yandere". Como dije al principio, !vaya forma de empezar en este mundillo!.
But, without a doubt, what impacted me the most about this anime (as well as anyone who has seen it), was its ending. I mentioned before that School Days went from being a comedy to a drama, but that was not the only change, and in its last chapter, the series gives one of the most shocking twists in the history of anime. From drama, we move to an incredible festival of blood and death, with decapitation included, I remember having to repeat the scenes several times, because I could not assimilate what was happening. For many, a somewhat exaggerated denouement, but it cannot be denied that it was this that allowed School Days to reach its cult anime status. Personally, I find it a great ending, it doesn't feel forced, as before the carnage begins its characters were already in a rather unstable state of mind. And to top it off, this was my first anime, the impact was even greater, I didn't even know what a "yandere" was. As I said at the beginning, what a way to start in this world!

creo que me animaré a verlo también ya que me lo han recomendado pero ha estado en mi larga lista de animes por ver y se quedó en lo más profundo jaja, me gustó tu artículo y el toque personal que le das ya que eso hace que la lectura sea muy amigable y es como si un amigo te estuviera contando su experiencia, espero sigas subiendo artículos sobre anime ya que son bastante buenos, saludos!
