Levi Ackerman of Shingeki no Kyojin (fan art)

One of the mainstream anime that I really got into way back 2013 was Shingeki no Kyojin. At first, I thought it was just about killing titans and surviving. But despite that, I still enjoyed the first season and patiently waited for the second season.

Yes, I patiently waited for years to watch the second season. I tried hard not to get tempted with reading the manga. Then season 2 came in 2017... and we didn't have to wait long for the first part of season 3 in 2018.

However, when something happened to Armin, curiosity got the better of me and I decided to read the manga. As I followed the manga, a lot of deep and dark things occurred. And I thought that there's more to Shingeki no Kyojin than killing titans and surviving.

When I caught up with the manga that year, I stopped reading... and never checked the continuation of the anime. I do get updates and spoilers here and there, so I'm aware of what happened.

There are several manga that I didn't dare finish not because I didn't like them, but because I felt like I'd have separation anxiety once I did... for example Fairy Tail, Darwin's Game, and 07 Ghost among others. hahaha

Anyway, a few days ago, I saw this video that mentioned how Bruno Mars binge-watched AoT before writing the song Die with a Smile. It's a song that I really like! Then the video I watched included clips of Eren's final moments with Mikasa with the song in the background.

It fit perfectly!!! And so... you know what happened? I ended up watching Shingeki no Kyojin again... and I'm currently in the middle of season 2. hahaha Dang it! I couldn't stop myself... Oh well... And since I started rewatching this series and plan to actually finish the whole thing, I decided to make a fan art of my favorite character LEVI ACKERMAN.

I painted a sad Levi-heichou... It's just that... the "feels" came rushing back when I saw Levi's squad's final moments in the first season. Ugh! I'm torturing myself again...

It's interesting though because rewatching the first season more than 10 years later made me relive some of the moments and discover things I didn't really pay attention to during those times.

I guess knowing what's going to happen and knowing how some characters turned up to be made me look at the first season from a different perspective.

Anyway, let me show some progress shots of my painting below.

It's an inception of Levi. hahaha Sorry, I'll just cover that with paint later on... xD

For this fan art, I used acrylic markers on an A5 canvas pad.

Levi is still my favorite character (alongside Armin) even after rewatching the first season, but for some reason, I got to appreciate Jean and Connie more this time around. They were just passing characters for me back then compared to the others.

I'll continue and survive watching the series this time... :) And perhaps get to love it even more than before.

Thanks for reading and I hope you like my fan art! Also, sorry for the rant regarding AoT. haha See you around! (^^,)/

I really liked your fan art! It happens to me too that I usually stop watching series I'm watching, not because I don't like them, but because I forget to follow them up hahahaha!

Hahaha... that often happens to me whenever I read ongoing manga. I sometimes want to build up more chapters before reading again, but I end up forgetting where I left. xD

Thank you so much. :)
