I haven't really watched any anime series these days because of my schedule, but I've been reading several manga on Manga Plus and of course, I've been hitting the "Sports" genre for the past week... well, except for binge reading about a hundred Black Clover chapters that I decided to pile up the past months. And oh boy... It was crazy!!!!
Before I get too side-tracked with Black Clover, let me introduce you to yet another baseball manga called THE DAYS OF DIAMOND.
As I always say, I'm a sucker for sports anime and manga, so yeah... you might be reading a bunch of sports-related stuff in the coming days. Also, the photos that I'd be sharing with you on this post are screenshots from Manga Plus App.
You can read a bunch of manga for free... well, the ongoing ones. However, you can only read each chapter once. After reading the free chapter, it automatically locks. In my case, I decided to subscribe to the standard option because I tend to go back to some scenes that I really enjoyed. There's also a premium option which allows you to read the completed comics, but I've read most of them and it's pricey. hahaha
So yeah, The Days of Diamond is an ongoing manga about an elementary school student named Ayasegawa Jirou or Aya. He's naturally gifted when it comes to sports. Sounds like a great thing, right? But not for our dear MC.
He used to play tennis, gymnastics, swimming and so on. And because of his natural talent for sports, he excelled in all of them. However, instead of being admired for his talent and potential, he was traumatized. Other kids blamed him for ruining their dreams. Some parents complained to coaches and asked to let Aya join another team because his level is otherworldly. Seeing how people reacted to it, Aya, who only wanted to enjoy the sports, decided to give up.
Well, that was before he met a baseball team called "The Bambies". They're a low-level local baseball team who mostly plays for fun.
After signing up for the team, Aya experienced the joy that he's been yearning for... however, it won't last long as the story took a sudden turn. Well, if you're interested to know what happened, feel free to read it!!!
The manga has 57 chapters so far... I already caught up with it, so I'm now patiently waiting for the next chapter.
One of the things I like about its plot is that, the MC is already pretty strong... strong to the point that it has become his weakness. It reminds me so much of MAJOR and Goro Shigeno's Little League days. They're both talented baseball players who plays for a weak team. The only difference is that Aya doesn't have the same confidence as Goro due to his past experiences.
The art style is also really neat! For now, it's not that focused on the game as they're still building up the characters, but I see potential in this manga. I hope it'd have its own anime someday.
Anyway, speaking of baseball anime...
Diamond no Ace: Act II (Zoku-hen) has been confirmed!!!!
I'm so happy as I have been waiting for this. The first season for Act II ended last 2020, so it's been almost five years. I'm so excited to watch the continuation... well, I've read the manga, but seeing them in action still hits differently!
In addition, Boukyaku Battery has four episodes left, so I'd get to watch it soon! I enjoyed the manga, so I'm really looking forward to binge-watching the anime version once it's completed. I just can't get enough of baseball anime... well sports anime for that matter.
I'll end my post here. See you around!
Sounds like a good manga, and for sure, marami ding lesson ano? Mga ganitong anime yong mas maraming catchy na line ee, lile you can really relate to it. The arts looks good too, are you using mobile ba to make the caption look bigger? Ito rason bat di ako fond masyado mag basa ng manga, the small captions, huhu
I'm using Manga Plus... :)
For the captions, you can always expand/magnify the screen, be it sa phone or PC.
Yes... it's just refreshing coz elementary students. Reminds me of Major S1... and Ginga e Kickoff (soccer anime) na mga little kids din ung characters... ^^
WoW years I do not see an anime that revolves around sports aspects, I remember watching a baseball one that as I would like to remember the name but it was so long ago that at the moment I do not remember it, a classic that I notice many saw slam dunk along with super champions that if I saw it but it was like the most abundant, the rest are very ephemeral, I will keep in mind this especially if they take anime second season etc etc although the emotional aspect of the protagonist does not encourage me much because I notice it too submissive haha 😅
Sports isn't really a huge genre, but it's definitely my favorite. If it's a baseball classic, it must be one of Adachi Mitsuru's work like Touch, H2, Cross Game, etc... there were a few others that I haven't seen.
Other baseball anime I've watched were MAJOR, Diamond no Ace, Ookiku Furikabute, One Outs, Battery.... Can't remember the others... Hihi
Days of Diamond - I'll try to remember this name. The plot seems interesting. I just hope they make an anime. I don't read much manga but this plot seems nice so I can just hope they will have an anime for it.
I really hope so, too... It's got potential! ^^
There are several manga that I hoped to have an anime and they really did like "Ao Ashi" and "Blue Lock", so who knows? hahaha
the story is great, it sounds quite interesting and the enthusiasm you describe makes you want to read it. I think I'll give it a try, thank you very much for recommending it!
