OKAY I just found this community for the Community Incubation Program, so I think it's working?...
I'm so excited to participate in OCD Community Boost Contest #3: Highlighting The Anime Realm but look, I'm not that old, I can´t talk about anime from 90s, I saw them but I don´t remember them.

My mom's favorites where Candy Candy, too sugared for me, actually I know the song in Spanish and Japanese, it's a classic for girls... and you know the other one my mom liked a lot and in fact she ran fast after school to get to watch it? Mazinger Z. My mom was in everything haha.
My favorites as a kid were Dragon Ball and Pokemon, Captain Tsubasa, Astroboy, but I tell ya, I can´t remember very well, the first I watched that right now I can actually remember is Naruto, but all this animes I said are actually very well known, so, I'm just gonna show you the weirdest animes, less known (at least as I know, they are not very mentioned) and old for me, they are from the beginning of 2000's, I just wanna hang out so please, if you know this animes, comment :D I feel alone trying to talk about them to my friends.
The next ones will have in common this:
Magic
Issues with time
Depressed characters
Battles
They are too young for all that ...
Very complex plot, not everyone likes them
Even us the ones who like them are a bit confused, specially with FLCL.
Our parents thought we were watching "just cartoons" and nope.

I found one of my favorites is in fact in the right time, so lets go a little trought this one movie:
Princess Mononoke

Princess Mononoke from Toho
From wikipedia: is a 1997 Japanese epic fantasy film written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki, animated by Studio Ghibli for Tokuma Shoten, Nippon Television Network and Dentsu, and distributed by Toho. The film stars the voices of Yōji Matsuda, Yuriko Ishida, Yūko Tanaka, Kaoru Kobayashi, Masahiko Nishimura, Tsunehiko Kamijo, Akihiro Miwa, Mitsuko Mori and Hisaya Morishige.
This one is one of the gems of Studio Ghibli, a producer that has very deep animes, specially movies, with a very unique point of view, in my opinion, very centered in the humans, the nature, and the human nature, even when there is a lot of magic involved, it's still about the human beings and their relation ship with the environment and others.

In this film, they show how disrespectful have been the humanity when it comes to power, we don't care if we need natural resources to live, we don´t care that next generations need it to, humans tend to think that one life matters more than the entire planet, I'm talking about the humans with the power, and the life I'm talking about, it's their own.
The enemies in the movie are in fact, the humans, and the monster are kind spirits, spirits of nature, corrupted by humans actions, it can be because they were already harm or they are trying to protect their land.

You can find a interesting summary in This link I can't explain it to you better than sending you to see the movie, because it's a very complex one, not for nothing it's called the darkest of Studio Ghibli ans got in trouble because people said it wasn't for kids. They were right? It has explicit violence but I think kids can handle it, also they can learn to respect nature, by hook or my crook.
So that's it, it feels good to talk a little about anime, but it has been a while for me, now I want to re watch all the ones I mentioned here.
Hope you liked it, until the next time

My mom also loved Candy Candy and I didn't like it much either hahahaha, I think all moms liked that anime. I think Dragon Ball marked the childhood of many of us, not to mention the success of Naruto. I loved the mentions! Higurashi no naku koro ni is pretty interesting gore and FLCL always gave me a laugh.
I loved your post!♡
Yay! Higurashi and Umineko are others that search in the dark of human nature, despite of all the magic, there is always a human in the background. Not so many people know about FLCL and less people understand, I personally think, it's better don't try it, just gonna get a headache hahaha
But I the one I really haven't meet another fan yet is Witch Hunter Robin, I found out about that in an old anime magazine
Great post about an outstanding movie! A great fantasy story, and is so unique! When fantasy is the subject, all movies, and series are the same. Dragons, trolls, orcs, gnomes, dwarfs, goblins... This production is not only beaty but unique!
One of my first contact with non comercial anime. Ghibli studio is full of awesome material! I was thinking about writing about this but looks like you got it first!
I have some in mind! Glad that one cant decide about wich anime is better... There are plenty!
Oh yes, Ghibli has so much more, they know how to make mainstream topics a complete master piece, because they are not afraid of show their real ideas, without filters because "it's for kids"
You're never too young to get into some older anime. I've actually done a few Retro Reviews of anime that came out before my time and found some absolute gems.
But yeah, Mononoke is an absolute classic. That movie has long proved it holds up to the test of time, every generation of anime fan seems to love that one.
Oh yeah,I have seen older animes, but I can't remember them as good as the
2000's ones.
Also, I have to search and download for free so I can't get all of them
I agree with you, the Ghibli studio really strives to make some puzzle movies, I've only seen Spirited Away, but this looks very cool to see too, and I'm sure Miyazaki made it as good as all the others, greetings, your post is very nice.
I have seen and recommend Howl's Moving Castle, Ponyo, Kiki's Delivery Service, The Cat Returns and Grave of the Fireflies, there are more but I haven't seen all of them.
I find the names interesting, I will see if I have time later to see them.(:
some good names here!
I've seen FLCL (one of my faves too!), Mononoke, and Wolf's Rain.
I'm gonna take notes about some of these animes because they look interesting.
These are awesome list of classic animes! alot of nostalgic feeling at the moment
Seems like you are a big fan of animes.
I have to admit I heard those for the first time.
Pokemon, Jungle Book, Shin Chan and the local ones here in India are my favorites.
Happy to know you thru this @OCD's initiative.
Have a good day :)
Yeah, I'm a big fan, I used to do cosplay too. I don't know, I have seen like... 100 animes, maybe more, some I don't even remember when but then I saw a part on internet and I go "Oh, I saw this in high school"... I started with the weirdest and not for kids should I say, I don't know what my parents were doing hahaha, probably like I said, they think anime are just other cartoon therefore it's for kids
Mononoke Hime is indeed a really amazing film. It's story is quite deep, I must say. It's influencing viewers to respect nature... and also women empowerment. <3
Wow, that's a lot that you have referred to. Interestingly, I haven't heard of even one of them.. Sigh.. But not to despair. It also means that so many new ones to have a look. :)
I never have watch any of this animes, from 1 to 10, what do you recomend me more of your list? I would like to know that for pass some time watching it.
It depends on your taste, all of them are great. I recommend the most to the less:
The one with more action and more understandable is Basilisk. 9.5/10 haha
My favorites, you have to watch first, Higurashi no naku koro ni, there are more seasons, kai, rei and kira but with the two first you are fine enough, and then watch Umineko no naku koro ni. These ones has comedy, gore, mind games, magic, all you can ask.
I don´t put them first because the last season of Higurashi was not as good as the rest and the next part of Umineko didn't came to air yet, no idea why. But they are 9/10
(there is also another sister serie of these two called ookamikakushi)
The ones with more story but a little slow, kind of depressive, Wolf's rain and The With Hunter Robin (but this is in a good way haha, I do recommend them) 8/10
The weirdest, watch it if you want just don´t mind anything, it's funny FLCL, wtf/10
