I must confess that I never used to watch animated films, mainly because I considered them as an exclusively children's genre, however, out of curiosity, after my nephew mentioned this film to me, I watched Midory, the girl of the Camellias, and of course I completely changed the perspective of my opinion, this movie is definitely not for children, it has a very strong background and difficult to watch even for a sexagenarian adult like me, in fact I would never want to see it again, and not because it is a bad movie, but because it is so raw that it left a bad taste in my mouth that I would not want to experience again.
Summary/Resumen
Midori is a girl who lives with her mother, who is sick and because of this she has to work selling camellias in the street to support herself and her mother. A girl alone is very vulnerable, especially because of her innocence and lack of malice, suddenly a man arrives and buys all the camellias that the girl was selling, which made her happy, besides, he gave her his card and told her that she could look for him in case she needed his help. Upon returning home Modori realizes that her mother was dead and to top it off rats were devouring her body. The girl has no choice but to look for the man who offered her help, so, following the address written on the card she arrives at a freak circus where she starts working, but it is there where Midori's real ordeal begins because the poor girl is assaulted and harassed in different ways, even going as far as intimate abuse, something absolutely disgusting.

The story of this film is already quite shocking and painful, but it is even more so in the visual section, as it is very graphic, they did not skimp on rudeness or unpleasant resources to represent the cruelty of some of the characters, and that is why I found it so unpleasant, that is, it is not that the film is bad, on the contrary, in general it is like a way of expressing what perhaps we all prefer to ignore, the suffering that many children have without parents, it's just that this kind of movies make me very uncomfortable, but mostly because of the fact of knowing that it is true, that many children are subjected to all kinds of abuse by unscrupulous people who have no heart. Every time the protagonist tried to be happy and forget the horrible things that had happened to her, someone made her live another horrible experience, there were even many scenes that I decided to skip and not watch, like the one where one of her coworkers kills all of Midory's puppies in a horrible way.
The animation is not the best, the characters look rather static most of the time and do not have much fluidity of movement, but as I am not a consumer of anime or animated films in general I ignore if maybe this is a type of genre or if it is due to the time in which the film was made, if I am not mistaken I think it was in the year 92, according to what my nephew told me.
And anyway, that's all I can tell you about this film, I invite you to watch it if you want to make your own opinion, but it really is very difficult to watch, especially when you have children. Thank you very much for reading my review, see you next time.

This anime has animation in keeping with the era, however, it could have been better. I think the story is quite distinctive, but it's not for everyone.
Thanks for sharing with the community. Hope to see it soon!
Yes, as I was reading, precisely because of its subject matter it didn't get much budget so they did what they could with what they had. You're right, this anime is not for everyone, I wouldn't watch it again.
Thanks to you for the opportunity.
It's clear that the movie had a big impact on you, and understandably so, as it deals with some very dark and difficult to digest themes. It's interesting how you mention that you didn't usually watch animations, and this one in particular seems to have changed your perspective. I'll add it to my list!
