Ah this movie, whenever I have this on my mind, the first thing that comes to mind is the rain.
Though regarding the relationship, it did confuse me a little, it seemed to lean more as companionship and friendship between a young man and an older woman, not anything more, definitely there is love, just doesn't seem to be the romantic type.
Yes, I kinda agree with this one because their relationship is more like a friendship that stepped up. It's nothing sexual, but there are really people who tend to associate companionship between the opposite sex as something that's related to that one (and so the grooming issue existed which was totally nonexistent in the story lol). I'm not sure if it's appropriate to immediately call it love, but I guess the act of letting go of each other is something that's close to that. There's definitely subtle romance there and it's hinted at the tanka and shoe-fitting part. It was indeed a nice movie with definitely enthralling art which really captivated me.
