The Death of Peace of Mind

Hoy use el titulo de una canción que me gusta de Bad Omens porque siento que representa este dibujo, hoy a pesar de tener un día bastante complicado, logre sentarme a dibujar un rato, tenia esta idea en mente, me encanta hacer retratos con ese efecto de “desvanecer” simulando pintura real, aunque a veces siento que le falta algo más, quizás tiempo de trabajo el cual últimamente me cuesta mucho conseguir, a peor de todo me gusto el resultado final, aunque para llegar a el tuve que hacer muchos cambios sobre todo en el cabello, esta posición de cabeza en la que trabaje se me hizo bastante difícil y tuve que redibujar el cabello varias veces, espero que les guste.

Today I used the title of a song that I like from Bad Omens because I feel that it represents this drawing, today in spite of having a quite complicated day, I managed to sit down to draw for a while, I had this idea in mind, I love to make portraits with that effect of “fading” simulating real painting, although sometimes I feel that it lacks something more, maybe some time to work which lately is very hard for me to get, but I liked the final result, although to get to it I had to make many changes especially in the hair, this head position in which I worked was quite difficult and I had to redraw the hair several times, I hope you like it.

Proceso/Process

Realice mi boceto, estaba algo dudosa si colocar el pelo con flequillo y además no sabia muy bien en que posición colocarlo, pero pensé en preocuparme por eso mas adelante, asi que comencé a pintar la piel usando tonos muy pálidos entre ellos marrones, rosas y color crema, en una nueva capa añadí mas colores para darle mejor forma al rostro, al principio quería hacer unos ojos azules, pero luego pensé en dejarlos en blanco, empecé a mezclar los tonos de la piel dejando un acabado suave y mas realista.

I made my sketch, I was a little bit doubtful about placing the hair with bangs and also I didn't know very well in which position to place it, but I thought about worrying about that later, so I started to paint the skin using very pale tones among them browns, pinks and cream, in a new layer I added more colors to give better shape to the face, at first I wanted to make blue eyes, but then I thought about leaving them white, I started to mix the skin tones leaving a soft and more realistic finish.

A pesar de que quería dejar la piel suave, tambien la deje con algo de textura, utilice un pincel con textura de tiza y con una opacidad alta para no mezclar los colores demasiado y dejar ese efecto de pinceladas, en este punto llego mi peor pesadilla, tuve que rediseñar el cabello varias veces hasta que conseguí un estilo que me gusto, pinté con color marrón y luego añadí pocas iluminaciones con marrón claro, para el fondo use un color azul oscuro desaturado y luego quise oscurecer un poco mas la piel, jugué con efectos de capa para lograr ver una piel mas acorde al fondo, pinte las pestañas y las cejas, luego empecé a darle mas detalles de color al rostro y por supuesto, agregar ese efecto de pintura chorreando mezclado los tonos de la piel con negro, finalice editando la imagen incrementando la saturación, contraste y color, además de añadir algunas luces en zonas del rostro que quería resaltar.

Although I wanted to leave the skin soft, I also left it with some texture, I used a brush with chalk texture and with a high opacity to not mix the colors too much and leave that brushstroke effect, at this point came my worst nightmare, I had to redesign the hair several times until I got a style that I liked, I painted with brown color and then I added a few highlights with light brown, for the background I used a dark blue desaturated color and then I wanted to darken a little more the skin, I played with layer effects to get to see a skin more according to the background, I painted the eyelashes and eyebrows, then I started to give more color details to the face and of course, add that dripping paint effect mixing the skin tones with black, I finished editing the image increasing the saturation, contrast and color, besides adding some lights in areas of the face that I wanted to highlight.
