30 creatures - 1 wizard

in Alien Art Hive3 days ago

I'm trying to start the year (and hopefully end it) productive. I took up a new art challenge again 🤣 that'll hopefully help me build up that consistency and development I've been hoping for. Also, I'm trying to refine my skills here and what better way to do so than with constant practise and constantly pressuring myself to do so 🤣 IDK pressure really helps me function and so does a list. it's one of the many perks of being me.

Duration: 3 hours
Materials: pens, watercolor

I actually kept telling myself that this year needs to start strong and I reaallyy liked where this one went ^^

as for the progression:

I started with a watercolour base and i originally wanted to continue this with pencil colors when it dried, but apparently i just couldn't get the glow effect i wanted when i was practicing with the staff sketch and the idea i had in mind

So i tried layering it up with pens and to my surprise, pens work on expensive watercolour 🤣🤣 it usually doesn't on the cheap ones and the cheap pnes end up clogging my pens and make them useless after even trying for a few minutes 🤣 it doesn't feel all that different as when I'm doing my base with ink though so I didn't really have to pull off a new technique

I continued my penning and my sequence here was actually light green > cyan > darke green > dark blue > then red for really deep shading. that puts your color theory in use and it's really nice not having to use black that much since it tends to overshadow a lot of things and makes the contrast way too sharp instead of harmonious

then this is before all the highlights i did ^^ and i do have new neon pens i bought on sale just recently and i finally got to use them! and they look soooo nice for that subtke highlight. something i had a hard time achieving with just the white gel pen. these pen innovations make me really happy ^^

and that's how i worked on this wizard ^^

Thank you guys for stopping by and I hope your hangovers are a little better and that your 1st of January is slow and restful because I will be summoned back to work so soon so I couldn't even get myself wasted on the 31st 🥲🥲 hopefully this will be a more consistent thing in between all the art contest and hive activities I want to rejoin this year.

This is all from me ^^ I will definitely see you guys again soon

Happy New Year oiiiee ┏(^0^)┛. Nagputukan din ba dyan sa inyo? Lol.

Good luck pressuring yourself girl, if it can give you an amazing result later then, go, go, go! Uwu. And I can't believe it took you 3 hrs for this, it looks good so I thought it will take longer coz diba ang hirap kaya ng art, pero parang maning mani lang sayo ( ꈍᴗꈍ)

tapos na putukan 🤣🤣 nakapag inom amd videoke na nga eh 🤣

lol let's see kung hanggang saan aabot yung pressuring skills ko kasi I'm just doing my best here 🤣 pag di kinaya yung 365 days edi hindi. but I'd still try

Working with prompts really helps, I trying to find something that works for me too. I really love this concept, beautiful colour choice... Happy new year

hmm maybe you could do like happy prompts since your style has always given such soft looks. i go for darker and more whimsical stuff cuz i cope with it better ^^
