The Circling Carriage Wheels - New Digital Art Piece

This Piece Was Inspired By A Trip To Batsto Village..

**This past summer we (my wife and parents) took a day trip to a state forest historical location called Batsto Village. Batsto is tucked into part of the Pine Barrens, and The Pinelands National Reserve. More specifically, Wharton State Forest.

The property is roughly a 30 minute drive from our home. The drive is scenic in itself, but the state park offers some neat views of nature that can be appreciated at a much slower pace. There are several historical buildings and structures littered throughout the grounds. Some of them can be toured and explored, while others may only be viewed from the exterior.

I'll save the full tour of the park to another post, but I will share this one particular building with you today.

The Carriage House ..

It's the bluish white, single story building, at the center of the photo. The Carriage House holds a few wagons and carriages of all types, which I do not know the names of or the details of. The park was nice enough to place a sign (see below) describing the carriage, but there were several inside, so I do not know what one they were describing.

And here are the lovely, or not so lovely means of transportation...

I was able to get a close up shot of the small one to the right. Check out the seats.. Horse Hair seats! Kind of cool and strange at the same time. I guess one uses what he has.

Not sure I would trust being pulled around in this one!

And Now For The Carriage Of Inspiration ..

Or rather the carriage that inspired todays are creation. The "Batsto Stage". This is actually a pretty cool looking stage coach. Now this one I would take a ride in, as long as someone would take the time to rid it of spiders and mice. And speaking of mice, it sort of reminds me of that movie "Cinderella". hehehe.

The picture is not the best shot ever, but then again we were not allowed into the carriage house, so the photos were taken from afar. I edited the shot and tweaked the color. I had a hard time stopping at just the simple edits, and before I knew it I was deleting this, altering that, and enhancing those colors even more! I then used a reflection edit to repeat a wheel pattern.

30 minutes later I had a neat little digital art piece which I call

'The Circling Carriage Wheels'

Like so many other things I work on.. I was about to just toss this one in a general art folder and call it done. Something told me to go ahead and share it here. Why not? That's what blogs are for anyhow.. Sharing our thoughts and creations, no matter how weird they are. And lately 'Weird' has been a theme of mine, especially when it comes to digital art work.

I have been enjoying this piece for the last month or so as a screen saver on my laptop. I am about ready to change it, because I think I have stared at it long enough. I do enjoy the bright colors found in the piece. The obvious bright red side of the carriage, with touches of copper here and there, draw my eye right to the center. From there, the enhanced shaded areas now appear blue and green, creating a balance to that bright cherry red paint.

Some of the other parts of the carriage create a mosaic pattern.. Behind the obvious pieces like the side of the carriage and wheels. Almost like a mechanical piece built to drive the rusty, blue wheels into a continuous circling motion. I could imagine that if those wheels were to turn and move, that the motion would be anything but smooth.

The whole strange piece appears to be sitting in some sort of dirty green box.. With slightly rounded edges. The leaves littering the ground and the small blocks of wood, placed under the wheels to help preserve them, add a tiny bit more interest to the art photo.

It's one of those pieces that where the more I stare, the more I find.. Interesting and unique patterns and textures, blended with warm and cool colors.

What Are Your Thoughts On The Piece?

Interesting or Maybe Not

Not everything that contains us is as elegant as a horse drawn carraige.

“Cinderella was such a dork. She left behind her glass slipper at the ball and then went right back to her step-monster's house. It seems to me she should have worn the glass slipper always, to make herself easier to find. I always hoped that after the prince found Cinderella and they rode away in their magnificent carriage, after a few miles she turned to him and said, "Could you drop me off down the road please? Now that I've finally escaped my life of horrific abuse, I'd like to see something of the world, you know?... I'll catch back up with you later, Prince, once I've found my own way.”

This is an amazing interpretation of the wagons @bdmillergallery well done and what an interesting place. We had some old carriages that belonged to family but we had to sell the property the barn that houses them on and they wanted to keep them. They took the property and developed it into housing but the main shared space for the community has the carriage in it. We still have the family photos of the family using tho, so that is good. So amazing how we used to get about.

Oh How Things Have Changed! Some of it for the better and some not so much. That's cool how they developed the property and made the decision to keep the carriage. At least they preserved that much! There is just something about a ride in a carriage on a warm summer night.. or a cool autumn one for that matter. I guess any ride in a carriage is nice unless its miserably hot or raining. lol.

Thank you for the compliments on my piece and I am thrilled that it brought back some memories for you!😊

That is pretty cool. I like how it turned out. I never would have guessed what the original photo looked like after seeing the edit. Pretty cool how something so unique and turn into something even more unique.

I don't know if I did it justice or not. Some folks may consider my "Art" a injustice to the actual carriage. lol. I appreciate the compliments though, because I think it came out pretty cool as well. Definitely unique though. 😁

This one turned out super badass! Great job on the art and thanks for sharing the inspiration.

AAaaaaaaaaaawesome! lol. Thanks for the compliment. I thought it did too, but you know how it goes.. sometimes we think our creations are the bomb and other... not so much. lol. THANKS!!!!

Hahaha... yes, i have had that feeling many times throughout the years. Sometimes though, you have to just trust your gut. You thought so and i agree so... this one is the bomb! Cheers my friend.

Thanks again! and CHEERS!!! 😁

You're always welcome browski!

This is nice. I want to be able to produce digital art, perhaps to mint on nft. But I not sure which software to use. There's so many to choose !

There are a bunch of programs out there, and I would be a bad person to ask for recommendations from. I am just learning myself, or I would definitely help guide you. Have fun if you try.

Beautiful work, very attractive and able to catch the audience. Greetings!

Awwww... Thank you! You made me smile with that compliment 😁
